Great Location, But Privacy Concerns Affected Our Stay
We stayed with a group of 8 and had a mixed experience. The home was clean and matched listing photos—slightly dated, but expected for a 4x4 beach rental. The location is peaceful and remote, and the ice maker was helpful since there’s only one fridge, which made storing food and drinks for the week a bit tight. The host was accommodating in letting us arrive early to enjoy the pool and allowing our son’s emotional support dog, which we appreciated. However, the stay started off on a stressful note. Upon arrival, we were accused of having more than 8 guests. After a phone call, we explained that while 8 people were staying overnight, we had other family staying nearby visiting throughout the week. The host said this was fine and noted the cameras would be shut off.Unfortunately, the next morning we were contacted again about cars in the driveway. We clarified that we brought a Jeep on a trailer, plus another vehicle—3 total—and still only had 8 overnight guests. Despite this, we felt watched the entire week, which impacted our ability to relax and enjoy the stay.Bugs are to be expected in this setting, though there were a lot of ants on the deck.Overall, it’s a nice home in a great location with some thoughtful touches, but the camera situation and lack of privacy made our stay less enjoyable than we’d hoped.

Thanks for your review. It is listed on our site that there are outdoor cameras in use. We were not informed you would have 4 guests on your arrival, and 4 extra people staying there and your reservation was for 4 people, so it appeared you had 12 total staying. When we spoke on the phone, the night of your arrival, I was told everyone was leaving except those that were on the reservation. The next morning when we texted is when I was told 8 people would be staying instead of the 4 on the reservation, which we said was fine as long as it was not over 8 which is legally our maximum capacity. I do apologize that this added to any stress but if we had been notified ahead of your arrival we would have understood what was going on and that you were bringing additional guests not on the agreed to reservation. We do turn the cameras off when guests arrive, although that isn’t promised on our listing site, but since there were many more than the 4 guests on the reservation the night you arrived it wasn’t explained that 8 were staying and not 4, we did check the next morning and saw three automobiles in the driveway. As the reservation was confirmed for two adults and two children we knew more than four were there. The next morning when you explained by text 8 would be staying , which we agreed to, and the rest were just visiting, we understood what was going on. Thank you for visiting and we hope you had a great week.
