House was in a good location, 5 min walk to the beach, which is a public beach. FYI this beach was not all sand, there was a mix of gravel around the edge, so don’t expect a nice stroll down the shoreline, but we had a good half day at the beach laying around. As for the house, the owner lives in the underneath. He wasn’t there much but you could tell someone was down there when he was home. He did knock on the door to show us a way to get to the beach. So if you want a place all to your own, this isn’t it. The floors are wooden, every move you make, is loud. There’s a glass door with a rug hanging that has stairs that leads down to the owners half. It’s a keyed deadbolt but maybe consider updating to one less see though. The bed was like sleeping on a stack of plywood, please, please invest in a comfortable bed if you are gonna charge over 800 for 3 nights! We actually drove home a night early because we didn’t want to sleep on that bed. As for cleanliness; 5/10 extremely overpriced in my opinion but I also booked extremely last minute so final score 3/5. PS the pics on the listing are deceiving. There’s drywall tape falling from the bathroom ceiling. A white toilet they don’t show, etc. Every single rental on all these sites should be video only, it’s 2026!!! Pictures are deceiving, video tells more of the story. If I had seen a walk through video, I prob would have found something else.

House was clean and a beautiful location very close to beach. Bed was a full size not queen as noted in the listing.

I grew up on the sand dunes of the beaches of Lake Michigan. I have knowledge of the trails and the ins and outs of the lake and the trails. I own a welding company three miles away. Have been in the duneland community for 60 years.

Why they chose this property

some weekdays will have the beach to yourself. There is construction going on in the parking out so there are very few people coming to the beach. Weekends are busier but not overwhelming.

What makes this property unique

House have a beautiful rear porch where you can have your coffee and look out on the beach. Also, covered front porch for privacy. This property was once used as a "swiss chalet" Immigrants from switzerland would come to the midwest for work and they would have a hostel to stay in right on Lake Michigan.
