About the host

Hosted by JLM Rentals - Leslie

Host profile image
We are Jeff and Leslie, retired professionals who love to travel and enjoy life. We’re fortunate to own and manage four vacation homes in some of our favorite places—Galveston, Texas; Petoskey, Michigan; Ventura, California; and New York City’s Upper West Side.

We spend time between our homes throughout the year depending on the season and rental schedules. In the spring and fall, we usually set out on longer travels, often exploring internationally and enjoying extended cruises.

When we are away, our daughter Sasha and our daughter-in-law Melissa help with guest messages so you’ll always have someone available if you need anything. We also have a local property manager/contact for each home if on-site assistance is ever needed during your stay.

We truly enjoy sharing our homes with guests and hope you feel comfortable and at home while you’re here.

Why they chose this property

Our connection to Petoskey began in 2008, during a road trip to an annual conference in Lexington, Kentucky. We passed through a place we had never heard of before—Petoskey—and noticed the 26-mile lakeside trail. It looked beautiful, but we didn’t have time to stop.

The following year, we made a point to return. We planned a day just to rent bikes and experience the trail properly. At the start of the ride, we noticed a “For Sale” sign on a home right on the bike trail and lake.

That evening, before heading to our conference, we scheduled a showing. As soon as the conference ended, we drove back and signed the paperwork.

Instead of buying a souvenir mug, we bought a house.

At the time, we were living in California, and most of our family and friends thought we were a little crazy for buying a home in Northern Michigan. That changed after their first visit—they immediately understood why.

What makes this property unique

What makes our property special is the combination of location and views. Situated directly across from Bayfront Park, guests enjoy sweeping bay views with immediate access to the beach, marina, breakwater jetty, and the 26-mile walking and biking trail. We also face west, offering stunning sunset views over the bay.

In addition, we are next to Bear River, with peaceful walking paths, fishing, and opportunities to watch local anglers, along with scenic trails—both paved and natural—that wind along the river and showcase seasonal wildflowers.

On top of that, we are just a 5-minute walk to downtown Petoskey.
