Architect's duplex loft in the heart of the Marais
Our charming duplex loft is ideally located in the best part of the trendy Marais district in Paris, just steps away from the Marché des Enfants Rouges, the Centre Pompidou, the Picasso Museum, galleries, restaurants and shops. This recently renovated house has a bedroom with office space upstairs, a bathroom with a large shower, an open kitchen, a dining area and a living space with a convertible sofa that has a very comfortable mattress. It sits tucked away in the second courtyard behind a 17th century hôtel particulier and has its own garden space with outdoor furniture. You’ll love the light streaming in through the glass roof and the huge sliding glass doors that look out onto your private cobblestone outdoor space.
You enter the apartment by going through the large cobblestone courtyard, through a landmark building into the second courtyard and then through a hallway that leads to the ground floor duplex loft.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, washer/dryer, multi-function oven, induction cooktop, refrigerator with freezer and all of the cooking equipment you’ll need.
The living room has a comfortable convertible sofa with a real thick mattress for two that you’ll definitely get your sleep on if there are four of you. There’s a flat screen TV and of course free WiFi and telephone. Feel free to browse the books in the huge bookcase next to the stairs.
The all white bathroom has a 90cmx90cm shower, a washbasin, a toilet and storage.
The bedroom is upstairs and has a Queen size bed (160cm x 200cm), a desk and storage for your clothes and luggage. A curtain can be pulled to close off the sleeping area if you need to sleep in the dark.
The outdoor space is the icing on the cake. It’s private and makes for a lovely view. It’s equipped with a table and chairs as well as lighting that makes outdoor dining a pleasure.
Clean sheets and towels are provided. The weekly cleaning fee is 100 Euros. Extra cleaning services are available. A baby bed is available upon request.

This very unique and perfectly located loft was the perfect home base for our extended stay in Paris. In a very vibrant neighbourhood, there are so many great shops and restaurants in every direction, yet the loft is totally private and quiet too. The skylights bring in light during the day, and stars at night. Highly recommended!
Lovely apartment. Quiet and cozy. Perfect for parents with 1-2 children. In the heart of Marais neighborhood. Would definitely stay again. Recommended to friends who come often to Paris.
There was no top sheet, only a heavy comforter and with no thermostat there was no way to control the temperature in the loft. The bed mattress is very soft and the bed is upstairs using unconventional stairs. The bathroom is downstairs making going to the bathroom in the middle of the night troublesome. Also, there were no directions on how to use the cooktop, washing machine, microwave and shower, which did not operate like they do in the U.S.The location was good, safe and quiet. After a few days we managed with the inconveniences. We just expected a bit more given the high nightly cost.

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay as much as I had hoped. In Europe, we don’t use top sheets, we use comforter covers. All our bed linen is freshly washed at very hot temperature, sanitized and ironed between every guest. I was happy to take my time to explain how the induction stove top, the washing machine and the shower worked. I prefer talking to my guests and helping them with the cultural and technical differences between the US and Europe, rather than leaving long and unwieldy instruction booklets (which by the way are located on the shelf in the closet at the entrance of the apartment.) The electric radiators can be simply turned off. I really enjoy hosting and have been doing so for many years. I always take into account guest’s feedback and try to accommodate everyone to the best of my ability.
Kind regards
We stayed in the Architect’s Duplex Loft for three days and it was fantastic. The location was amazing and Rebecca’s responsiveness was always immediate. Everything we needed was there and the loft is really a cool space. We would definitely stay there again and again.
Beautiful space with glass walls and skylights, in an inner courtyard setting.
Well laid out and has everything you need for a comfortable stay - The stairs are a creative solution, but are not for folks with mobility issues and take some getting used to. We look forward to staying here again next time we are in Paris

COMFORTABLE MARAIS APARTMENT
Our family of four, including 2 teenagers, stayed at the apartment for one week in August. On the whole we found the apartment very nice and comfortable but it's a little small for 4 because it is basically a loft studio. It's location is fabulous, right in the heart of the Marais and a short walk to almost everywhere. The apartment has very high tech appliances and we had no instructions on how to use them when we first arrived. The kitchen is very well equipped and has everything you need to prepare a nice meal. The shower has excellent water pressure. The bed upstairs is super comfortable and had very nice clean white linens. We had plenty of towels and extra linens for the sofa bed downstairs. We did not find the sofa bed mattress very comfortable but it is adequate for a few nights. We felt like we lacked privacy in the apartment. It is surrounded by glass everywhere and we always pulled the curtains when at home. The garden was not well maintained when we arrived and had a lot of dead plants and was dusty and dirty. It is also not private and is open to the next door apartment which is the owner's architectural office so we did not stay in the garden during our stay; still it provided a little extra room. The stairs leading up to the bed upstairs are tricky to maneuver and felt like an obstacle course every time we went up and down. You have to hold on to the railings and be very careful when using the stairs especially at night if you have to go to the bathroom. The apartment is located at the back of 2 courtyards. In one of the courtyards that you have to use going in and out of the apartment, we found a gigantic beehive with hundreds of bees gathering nectar on the ivy covered wall. We noticed the high buzzing sound when we first arrived but apparently the bees are there every year and have not stung anyone. Neither Jessica nor Philippe were in town when we first arrived but Jessica was helpful and tried her best to help us out with the high tech appliances and TV. Philippe was very impatient with us over the phone and I can't say that we had a pleasant experience with him.
The apartment has no A/C but the weather was gorgeous in Paris during our stay so we never felt hot. I don't know how it would feel upstairs during a heat wave.
I think this apartment is most suited for a single person or a couple. It offers all the comforts of home in a beautiful surrounding right in the heart of Paris.

Dear Didi,
First of all I’d like to thank you for rewarding us with four stars even though there were some issues you weren’t satisfied with.
The instruction booklets for the appliances were in the closet as you walk in on the left. I’m toying with the idea of adding a user’s guide to the Frenchman (less high tech but equally complex). When I get back to Paris, I’ll make some concise instructions and paste them on the appliances.
This summer has been exceptionally hot and Philippe and I have been in Paris discontinuously, so the plants in the garden have suffered a bit. We’ll be attending to that as soon as we get back in the fall. In our absence we have our cleaning lady Annie, Manu and Julie (who came by within 2 hours after we spoke on the phone), who do a great job taking care of everything.
As for the bees, there’s no hive on the property. The bees come and gather pollen during the two weeks in the summer when the beautiful Boston Ivy covering the hôtel particulier in front of the house is in flower. There are hives in the Jardin du Luxembourg and on the roof of the Opéra Garnier (btw, you can buy Parisian honey).
We love our little nest in the Marais and are happy to share it with our guests we try to do our best to make everything as comfortable, pleasant, poetic and Parisian as possible.
Warm regards,
Jessica
Great loft apartment through two magical and rustic courtyards. The apartment is tidy and convenient. The space is probably best for a couple. The steep uneven stairs could be difficult for some people but it was fine for us! Thanks!
What a great location! It was quiet at night, perfect for sleeping. Easy access to great cafes, museums and art galleries. Jennifer was very easy to communicate with, she made it a very pleasurable experience!
Just wonderful! Quiet in the heart of the coolest place to be in Paris. Wonderful abode, well designed (you have even an Eames lounge chair!) and the glass ceiling that allows you to see the sky and the chestnut tree that the building is under. There is small patio for outdoor dining, if desired. A gem that I love coming back to.

Great location but needs upgrade.
Owner didn’t share the status of construction on The adjacent roof which begins at 8:30am. Apartment needs an electrical upgrade, new privacy curtains and window pane replacement (broken windows.) Limited (none) instructions on using appliances. And very very large spiders!!
The apartment is in a great neighborhood and working with Jessica was very easy and she was very flexible. As others have noted, the property is starting to show some wear & tear and could be updated.
Also, we had a larger group next door who continued to party after coming back from the bars and it sounded like they were in the apartment with us. Could have just been that they were particularly loud or the walls were a bit thin.
A great location for experiencing the Marais neighborhood. Great room and close to shoos and metro. Jessica was wonderful and easy to work with.

Cute and convenient, but not well maintained
This property is in a very good neighborhood with lots of nice shops and restaurants. It is a ten-minute hike to the metro. The property needs refreshment. The loft bed is up a narrow stair, beware older folks. Wi-fi goes on and off, mostly off. Owners were genial on line but not present until day 4 of 6-day visit. Not recommended for comfort lovers. Our first VRBO experience and probably our last.

Marais escape
I reviewed this loft last year (I think "hideout" was in the title) and after a return visit, stand by my very positive prior review. The place was clean, gorgeous, and as unique and lovely as I remembered. The neighborhood is vibrant and active, whereas this space takes you away from the bustle. Jessica was kind and responsive. The difference this year was that we brought our two kids, 12 and 10, and that made it quite cramped, especially the bathroom. I would most definitely stay here again alone or as a couple, and recommend it highly, but probably not with the kids. That said, our family had a wonderful time in Paris and created memories we will cherish forever, including our mornings and evenings in this beautiful, luminous space.

Clean, comfortable
This is small but comfortable with a tiny charming garden. The glass doors to the garden make the space seem bigger. Fairly centrally located. I walked everywhere. I couldn't find pots so that I could cook and I couldn't figure out how to lock the sliding doors to the garden. I loved the amount of light.
