Overall a very nice spot on the lake. We had a great week with extended family. Some of areas of the house could have used a deeper cleaning. Definitely the cabin needs some updating.

Wonderful stay at Longview! House was the definition of an Adirondack getaway; great views, well equipped, clean, and spacious. Owners were accommodating and very easy to get in touch with. Dock was sturdy and spacious and is located in a quiet bay which made docking and swimming very enjoyable. Would certainly recommend!Almost forgot, thanks for the S’mores! I think we ate them all

Lots of room and right on the lake! Hiking trails virtually across the street with more just up the road and beach access. Great sunsets and calm waters for kayaking. Owners very quick to respond to any inquiries.

An Oasis Retreat

This was a fabulous house with amazing views of Lake George. We had never been to the Lake George area and did not really have an idea of how beautiful and serene the area is. Everyone in our family thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the house, the dock (a great place to sit and enjoy refreshments and take in the view) the hiking and our fabulous Lake George Island Boat tour. Our hosts were wonderful, helpful, informative and quick to respond to any of my questions throughout the rental process. I would highly recommend staying at this property and hope we get to stay again soon.

Pleasant Camp Along Lake George

My friends and I rented the property for a long weekend and this camp met all of our needs. It was accurate from the number of beds to fully available kitchen, grill, supplies, etc. and simply the beauty of the area. Booking was a bit old school, as even though it was booked through Home Away we corresponded via mail and phone, but you can tell the owners are experienced and professional. Some easy upgrades could be made to the electronics of the house, such as Wifi/Internet and TV but if you're booking this place to watch TV and browse your phone then I'd recommend keeping this place available for those who won't. Overall a great location and experience.

Do Not Recommend!

First, let me start by saying I am a long time VRBO customer. I have stayed in VRBO's and their partners all over the world. That said, I have seen a wide range of properties, that offer various levels of amenities. Unfortunately, Pilot Knob was by far the most disappointing propety I have ever stayed at. Kitchen: Ill equipped, pots/pans are old, beat up teflon in need of replacement. As noted in other reviews, pots/pans available are sparse. Difficult to cook a meal for 6 or more people. You will need to bring EVERYTHING with you. Dishes and glasses needed to be cleaned before use...wine glasses were covered in a dusty, greasy film. Bathrooms: Clean/ready for use. One small bar of soap was provided. Plenty of towels. Washer/Dryer works well ,laundry soap available. Bedrooms: All guests thought beds were uncomfortable, as mentioned in other reviews. Bedrooms could have more lighting, very dark. Safety: The property is on a steep hill leading to the lake. There are lots of stairs. Railing from stairs leading from kitchen are loose and unsafe. Pitch of stairs leading to lake are steep and lean forward. Property is full of exposed roots, making it dangerous to walk in the dark. Privacy: Property Manager was on the property twice during our stay w/o knocking and introducing herself or notifying ahead of time. She said she was thinking of kayaking and had her dog with her. Second time was with a contractor. *I do not recommend staying here. Over priced.

House was very nice. Living room furniture left something to be desired as couches were ripped and had little support. Beds very comfortable. Access to dock was difficult due to the steep slope of the yard and tree roots, especially if elderly or very young children in your party. Couldn’t ask for a better view of the lake. Spectacular sunsets!

The Cabin on the Lake

My family had a wonderful time at the lake. The cabin was lovely and the views were amazing. We rented a boat for the week and were able to dock it right at the house, which was fantastic. The fishing on the lake was great! One of our best family vacations by far.

Spring get away

Property was as described in listing. It is very centrally located. We used the dock to watch the beautiful sunsets.If you have anyone with disabilities or guest that have a walking issue getting to the dock might be a challeng. Otherwise, it’s a lovely house that sits right on the water with an awesome view.

Lake George - Pilot Knob Winter Trip

Really nothing bad to say about this place or the host. My friends and I had a wonderful time in this beautiful house, and just about everything was as expected. The only two things I would comment on is that the gps coordinates through vrbo don't bring you to the exact address (brings you a few blocks down the road), and the picutures should be updated to reflect the bubblers that are installed around the dock - we originally though we would have been able to park sleds/quads by the dock as it's shown in one of the oics. Other than that, great place and I hope.to book it again soon!

Great Lake View

We enjoyed our long weekend at this wonderful lake house. It was clean and easy access. Very Close to downtown Lake George and had an amazing views of the lake both from the house and the Dock/Deck on the water!

Wonderful place with serious problems

We all loved it, but we were all concerned about the mold in the bathrooms and the broken appliances in the kitchen. It seems to me that these could have been addressed in the 29 hours we paid for but couldn't use the house. While mold is a very serious issue, there was no attempt even to clean it off surfaces. We smelled it immediately and shut off AC and opened windows.

Beautiful Lake George Home

We had a wonderful time at this property. It was exactly as stated. Perfect size for our family of 6 adults and 3 children. Plenty of room and well stocked kitchen. We would love to come back to this house in the future. Location is out of the crowds of town and has a beautiful view of the lake.

Time at Longview

The house was as pictured! It was very clean. We couldn’t have asked for a better view!!! I found a few issues. We couldn’t find a lighter or a flicker to start a fire. No pens or pencils in the whole house. A large number of spices, yet no salt and pepper. Just little things like that. Beds were very comfortable. We had 20in of snow and we were plowed out which was awesome!! We would definitely stay there again!!

We enjoy ADK activities that has brought us all closer together and opened a world of new experiences like boating, hiking, snow shoeing, midnight lake adventures, and so on. We love exploring the numerous sleepy towns and villages that dot the ADK park.

Why they chose this property

We could not think of any other area that offered such a wide range of year-round activities offering adventure, the outdoors, wildlife, waterfront fun, sports and activities, arts, good food, shopping, antiquing, relaxing, boating and lovely locals.

We love to hike and one of the special benefits of this location literally across the street from our home and Longview is a hiking trail up to a gazebo overlook and further up to a beautiful waterfall. We recommend this hike in all four seasons as the trails transform to offer very different experiences. if you are seeking more challenging hikes, a few miles down the road is a great hike up Buck Mountain offering spectacular views of the Sagamore, the Narrows and views toward Lake George Village. Bring lots of water and take your time but the views from the top are worth the effort!

What makes this property unique

Longview is a lovely real log cabin. It sits on the Lake George waterfront, overlooking Warner Bay--a quiet, 5 MPH bay serving a handful of homes and Fischer's Marina.

The interior offers spectacular views of the lake with amazing sunrises and sunsets. Longview guests get the use of a dedicated boat slip to dock their own (or rented) boat during their stay. Boating on the lake is incredible with day trips to the numerous small towns along the 29 mile long lake. You can go by boat (or snow mobile in the winter) to Lake George village and have dinner, see the attractions or go shopping. Up in the narrows, you can stop in the small store located on Glen Island or go eat at one of the boat-in restaurants along the lake. Or, just dock in one of the quiet bays and relax and go swimming.

The dock offers a great spot to swim and jumping off of the Aquabouncer keeps everyone cool and busy. You will not have to go far to fish as many of our guest find they can catch good sized fish along our stone crib docks. Enjoy the sun and relax on the private deck on the waters edge with table and lounge chairs.

In cooler weather, people love to use the cabins stone fireplace to add ADK ambience to the cabin and their stay. Fall is wonderful with crisp air for hikes and boating. Winter is fantastic with hiking, skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and making snowmen.

If all else fails--there is always nearby outlet shopping, seasonal horse racing, art museums, music and lots of restaurants. Kids love Great Escape, all of the mini-golf, arcades, the rodeo, and all of the traditional waterside 'boardwalkesque' types of activities.
