2nd time we have stayed here and it’s always been such a great time. The hosts are always easy to reach. The dishwasher did have a small amount of dirty cups, possibly from the last renters but really not a big deal. Thanks Neil and Nancy!
This is a great place to stay to relax and decompress. The dock is great for fishing and the pool is awesome to cool down and chill. The home itself is adorable and roomy. Neil was very responsive to the few questions we had and gave us the answers right away.
We really enjoyed our stay, fishing was great, the house was spacious. All cleaning supplies were provided. We will book again at this location.

This property has a nice view of the lake as well as a large upstairs living room that has an outdoor deck. My family and I absolutely enjoyed our stay! The owner was very communicative and helpful! Rules and instructions are easy to follow.
We will definitely be coming back. The kids had a great weekend Kids already saying they want to come back for their bdays. Hubby spent day and night fishing caught some big cat fish. The house was perfect clean and had everything needed.
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful Clearlake home :)
We rent every year to fish. Located in a great little cove. We caught a lot of fish. The lake was amazingly clear for this time of year. The house is well equipped. The appliances (mainly dishwasher) are showing their age but everything works. This is our second time renting this house and will probably rent again. Thank you Nancy.
I was disappointed on my vacation at this property. It was not clear in the ad that the house has two other attached units that tenants live in. The water was so low that access was not possible to bring the boat to the dock. We rented this place for the lakefront access and to keep the boat in the water. We were not informed with the current situation. We had to load and unload the boat every day and I had to squeeze the boat and truck in a very tight area. The smell of the lake was overwhelming. The floors in the house were very dirty. The pool seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The bottom of the pool was covered in green algae. The gardener showed up early in the morning and woke us up.

We emailed the guests that the lake was so low they would need to moor the boat. Our rental agreement states we are not responsible for frequently changing lake conditions. Our VRBO
Lists refers to the two apts. in the front of the house. We were very disappointed they were unhappy.
If you have nothing good to say, keep your mouth shut.
On the day I left my home, I received an email that as a tenant, I was required to do laundry. (No mentioned of this in any earlier correspondence). On Arrival, the smell/stench was so bad that it actually traumatized me. When I finally got home, I became sicken looking at a marina on television. On arrival, many family members refused to stay due to the stench. They refused to stay and purchased hotel rooms in Clearlake and Clearlake Oaks. I could not find a room, or I would have left too. The 2nd day AM the electricity was off due to a "Black out" No AC. In the PM the toilet broke due to incorrect mechanism installed in the tank. I turned off the water to the toilet. (informed owner) The 3rd day I was gone most of the day due to family obligations. While I was gone, the AC stop working. I returned to the cabin to an inside temp of 89F degree. (it was 100F outside.) All night running the AC, I got it down to was 87F. I couldn't use the pool due to the stench. There was NO WATER at the end of the dock. Therefore, no access to fishing. Let's not start on the infestation of the outside spiders, apparently the stench did not bother them. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Otherwise, the cabin was comfortable, clean, no spiders inside, a good location. Most of the problems were beyond the owner's control. I don't mean to complain, but my family and I will never come back.

Guest satisfaction is our priority. This guest paid late and didn’t read our rental agreement. This guest received an email explaining the lake conditions regarding the extreme heat causing a bloom of algae with a strong odor. The email also contained a warning about the expected blackout, which only lasted a few hours. He didn’t respond to the email. We encourage guests change their dates or cancel when lake conditions are extreme.
We bought a new toilet because he complained the toilet was leaking. When we arrived to replace it, it wasn’t leaking, and we haven’t had any complaints.
We take pride in our communication and positive guest experiences.
Nice property, beautiful views, California drought
My family stayed here for 3 weeks. It was my spouse and I, our 5 year old, and a 5 month old. At different times we had family stay with us that were another couple and 2 other kids of the same ages. Reading the reviews it looks like previous guests had a hard time with the state of the lake. We are in a severe drought, and so the lake is shorter by a hundred feet or so (!!!) which tells you more about California than about the property. It’s a bummer we didn’t get a full lake but we expected that going in. The pool was great in giving us an alternative swimming option and the kids had a blast. It is that time of year when there is algae on the lake, and there is a smell. During our stay, it was fleeting and brief. Easy enough for the 1 or 2 times to hang out inside for 30 minutes until it cleared. But that’s lake life. The host was very communicative and there were no surprises. There are tenants in the front of the property but you really never see them. The few times we met them they were friendly. Same with the neighbors to the left. The property has a reverse floor plan (rooms downstairs) and so that did take some managing to keep the older kids from waking the napping babies by dropping toys. The sunsets were amazing! The first two weeks we had clear moonless skies for great sunsets behind the mountains and a great star view. The third week was peak fire season and the air did get smoggy.
All in all, this was a great stay for us. The things that weren’t perfect were all because of the weather: lake depth, occasional algae smell, fire season. The property itself more than made up for it given the circumstances. I’d recommend the property to friends, and the friends we had over loved late nights on the back deck with a bottle of local wine.

Enjoyed Stay cause we were all together, however....
We felt the homeowner wasn’t completely honest with us , until after the cut off day for a full refund. They informed us the day before no refund was possible that the lake was extremely low and didn’t go to dock and the smell of the lake was horrendous. You get a house on the lake you wanna enjoy it. The algae was so bad we weren’t able to go in , couldn’t use a boat or fish. You couldn’t even put your feet in the water unless you wanted to walk through dead fish at the shore of the property. We told the owner we had two pregnate women with us with sensitive nose and her response was more less stay inside and keep windows and doors shut. The smell and algae wasn’t anything new to the area and wish we had been notified sooner so we could of reschedule. When we told Nancy our complaints she glossed right over them and said she notified us, however that was only after we couldn’t get a full refund. She then went on to say her husband went the next day or two and the water was clear. We actually had friends staying down the way, and it was in no way clear as she said. It still isn’t two weeks later. I felt it was their way of acting like we over reacted. But seriously, you couldn’t be outside much during the day as the smell was damn near the smell of an outhouse. I will say the place it’s self was lovely and worked well for our family. I felt the owners should of compensated us as they weren’t forthright. We would of loved to have made this our yearly vacation place but since the owners were more concerned with renting it out to make sure they get their money than making sure it was a nice stay for their renters. Seriously who wants to rent a lake house and you can’t use the lake? Just be honest. Bad code of renter ethics.

We are disappointed you feel this way. Just to set the record straight, we were not dishonest with you in anyway. We informed you of the lake conditions as soon as we knew about them 16 days before your stay, as the lake changes from day to day. We informed all our future quests about the conditions, and some did opt out and received their full refund as you would have if you decided to opt out or reschedule. Your response to that notification was “The odor should be interesting as we have 2 pregnant daughters with very sensitive noses right now:)” We have given many guests full refunds after the two week no refund policy, but we received no indication that you wanted to cancel or reschedule. It was only after your stay that you mentioned you wanted us to “make it right”.

Good for the Price
We stayed here over the 4th of July with 7 people. The hosts were good communicators. I was pleasantly surprised as the interior of the house is more updated than the photos show (new couches). The above-ground pool and indoor pool table are crowd favorites as well.
There are a few funky parts of this property that I feel compelled to call out:
> We brought our ESA, but she was in the car when we encountered dog poop in our room immediately after arriving. Nancy called me immediately and was just as surprised as I was, so I assume it will be resolved.
> We encountered other tenants on the property and Nancy mentioned that it was in the listing. The listing says "The house and two apartments are located on a private lane." She reiterated that they were "on the same block." A lane/block is different than on the property... it feels like they're avoiding the fact that the house is not a standalone home, but t is in fact, a triplex, shared with other tenants. The tenants were great and kept to themselves, but I felt a little deceived and I think other renters should be aware that THIS HOME IS A TRIPLEX.
> I received the "ok" from the hosts to park a rental boat on the dock. I doubt they've used the dock in awhile because it needs some serious work to dock anything larger than a raft. Around 6pm, the wind picked up and the 18ft rental boat almost pulled itself off the cleats b/c the dock was in such bad shape. Thus, we had the boat picked up every night and dropped off in the morning, which was a bit of an inconvenience that I wish I would have known about ahead of time.
> Deck could use sanding and re-painting.
> Because of the location, the lake in front of the house is not swim-able by health standards (we checked online). Not only does a terrible stench fill the area when the wind comes in every afternoon, but the shoreline is covered in thick, green algae. I would not rent this property w/o also renting a boat, to get outside of the algae.
In general, this house suits a group well IF you rent a boat and don't mind the quirks. It has a decent amount of activities and is clean and well-kept. It's also a great rental for the 4th of July because there are county fireworks less than a block away! For the price, it's a good rental. Next time, however, I would rent a property at the Northern part of the lake (avoid the algae smell) and make sure the owner has used the dock in the recent months.
Thank you, Nancy & Neill, for a lovely holiday weekend!

We are very disappointed with this review. We try to ensure the best possible stay for our guests. As we discussed with Kerry when she called, we have no idea how dog poop was encountered in the bedroom. She told us the first couple that arrived said there was no poop in the bedroom, and she said it was still warm when she cleaned it. Kerry did bring a service pet with them. The home was cleaned before they arrived, and we do not allow pets typically.
In our description we do state, “ The home and two apartments are located on a private lane.” The apartments are attached to the front of the house, but it is not a triplex. The yard, beach, and pier for the house is not shared with the tenants. Many previous guests have inquired about the apt. tenants and their use of the property before renting. The last thing we want to do is deceive guests.
The dock is a bit rough,, but it is safe and we do park our 20.5 foot inboard ski boat there with no issues even in rough water. We cannot control the water quality of the lake. Clear Lake is known to have algae, and some days or hours are worse than others. Our grandkids typically spend hours in the lake enjoying our slide off the dock.
We had a nice time!! We played pool and ping pong with the kids! We cooked together as a family and the men in our family loved to go fishing on the dock out there they caught 7 huge catfish and came when we came home we had a fish fry!!! Best Father’s Day getaway!!!

Cleanliness issues
1. Futon bed was broken couldn’t use it.
2. Dog hairs all over house and bed. Futon bed had lots of dog hairs. Blankets, sheets and billows had dog hairs in all three rooms. Dog treats was left on bed floor. Upstairs floor was not mopped and had dust and dog hair.
We had an awesome time and the house was clean and nice! The owners were easy to communicate with and they even put a mooring ball in for our boat as the water level was low near the dock. They have awesome neighbors as well! The owners advertise everything just as it is and that was appreciated!!

I enjoyed it
Only main issue is the parking. If you have boat and trailers or multiple vehicles is kind of a pain as trailers must be removed and the parking is really tight. Everything else was cool.
It was the most Amazing home Neighbors were very friendly. The outdoors area and views were breathta
Best time Ever. My 85y/o Mother and my 79y/o aunt were over the moon with the views. Neighbors on both sides were very friendly. Excellent Easter Vacation!!
Where to start? The home was clean upon arrival. We were all relaxed once we got there. There was room for my whole family to be together for the holiday without feeling cramped or uncomfortable. Amenities provided by the property owners was accessible. I only called for one thing and that was to figure out how to turn off the thermostat upon check-out. My family and I were so pleased with our stay and if they’ll have us, we’ll definitely book again. Thank you Neil and Nancy!
