Loved the location. Glad we had a Jeep to get there as it feels like you are in the jungle. Beautiful property. We enjoyed the hot tub on those cool days.
The house and the setting were wonderful! We felt like we were in the middle of a jungle. The house itself was well-equipped, comfortable and very clean.
5 stars in every category, this little cabin is very private at the end of a little lane through the jungle that is nearly a mile long through the jungle and stretches of hydrangea hedge of all things. The drive nearly feels like a bit much the first time but after the first time it is no big deal. The cabin itself was very clean and tastefully decorated, no more and no less than exactly what you need. The layout is ideal and feels very spacious and likely contradicts what the actual square footage is. The hot tub on the large lanai was also very clean and great to enjoy after a long day exploring the area. We loved every part of our stay.Pro tip, there might be even less in Volcano Village than you are expecting. The one or two general store type places were pretty expensive and have limited inventory. Definitely bring what you want and need from Hilo. On the other hand we had a fantastic dinner at Lanikai Brewing just down the road from the cabin. I'm not sure I've ever recommended a caesar salad before but I'll do it now- made with locally grown greens. Solid beers also, maybe try a flight.
This is a unique experience...to enjoy the privacy of a rain forest .... with 15 foot ferns and rain dripping from every surface. We loved the back porch with its hot tub. That fireplace is terrific. I was more than happy to spend 60 in the local grocery store to have plenty of firewood for a blazing fire every evening. The place is well maintained...everything worked just fine. I recommend it to honeymooners but also to anyone who longs to immerse themselves in the wonders of a rain forest for a week. David Koehler, March 2026
Fabulous stay at this cute cabin! Beautiful lanai and the accommodations were perfect for our family of 4. We so enjoyed walking in the area and exploring the national park and Sunday farmer's market. Would definitely stay here again.
Hale Sweet Hale was the perfect little getaway for our family of four. We loved the twin beds for our children. The hot tub was welcomed after a long day of hiking in Hawaii Volcanos National Park. We felt like we were in the tropics with all the beautiful flowers and foliage around us! We enjoyed our stay!
We could not have loved this place more! Wish we had stayed for the whole week. The location can’t be beat, basically right around the corner from the national park but feels a world away. The home is clean and very well appointed with everything we could have needed (and some lovely extras like the towel warmer!). The hot tub was so nice after long hikes in the park, especially while listening to the rain hit the roof of the covered lanai. I loved everything about our stay and hope to return. Just magical - couldn’t recommend this home more!
Great location, great place to relax! Highly recommend if you want to spend some time on the Hilo side. Easy access to Volcano, and about 30 minute drive to Hilo.
This house is perfect for a quiet rainforest getaway. The location provides easy access to the national park as well as Hilo, and other island activities. The house is well-kept, clean, and provided all the amenities we needed. I would definitely love to come back and stay here again!

This is such a cute little house with everything you could need! It is a great place to come back to after a day of hiking and enjoying Volcanoes National Park!
This cute little cabin exceeded our expectations! It was clean, spacious and had lovely little touches like fresh flowers. It was perfectly located for dinner at the Volcano house and a day of exploring the park. It’s a bit tricky to find after dark, but we really enjoyed our stay.
This home was charming and unique. It had everything we needed and was so close to Volcano National Park. The heated towel rack in the bathroom and hot tub on the porch were wonderful bonuses!
The house was immaculately clean, had all the desired amenities, and the location couldn’t be beat for quick access to scenic highways and Volcanoes National Park! The owner was responsive, friendly, and helpful! We would absolutely stay here again!

This place is so cute. The perfect cozy cabin getaway! The drive to the cabin feels like you are very secluded, even though there are other houses around. Would absolutely stay here again if we are ever in the area!
