We loved the house for our vacation to Bar Harbor. The location was fantastic to explore Acadia and all of Mount Desert Island. The view of Eastern Bay is fantastic and we loved using the kayaks along the shoreline. We saw seals, porpoises and eagles! We definitely want to return!
This home in amazing; it exceeded our expectations! Our family has had such a blast. The home is so well designed, and was a perfect fit for our five, but was larger and would accommodate a second family (traveling together) as well. There is storage exactly where you need it, the flow of the home is great, and all the operable windows are wonderful. The screened-in porch was an added bonus. The ocean-side property was truly unique. I can't say enough good things about it. Check-in/check-out was seamless, and communication with property manager was just as easy.
The house was wonderful! It's spacious, accommodated all 3 generations of our family, is on the water and has kayaks and personal flotation devices. It's very close to Acadia National Park and to Bar Harbor. We had a phenomenal time!

We had a great time at this home it was perfect for our family. The house was right on the coast and provided kayaks which we loved. Also the home was minutes from acadia.
Spectacular Beautiful home right on the ocean Private location Home was nicely stocked with all the amenities less than 2 miles from Bar Harbor and Arcadia national park
Would highly recommend and definitely planning on coming back
We had a family reunion at the house and everything was just perfect for our group of 6 adults. The house itself, its location and all the amenities... everything that we had hoped for. Communication with our host Janice was excellent. We will definitely recommend this property to our friends and other family members.
Thank you for making this a great stay!
Great location for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The sauna was amazing as was the ability to take a morning cold plunge in the cove! We loved that the house was so well-stocked with toilet paper and paper towels - a real rarity! Plenty of space for two families to be together (or stay separate, when desired). We had a wonderful time.
This lovely house on the water was the perfect place for our group of 3 couples. It is near enough to Bar Harbor for convenience but in a secluded spot on the bay a few miles away. The house itself has great light and a splendid view of the bay and included are ample supplies of necessities for the bathrooms and kitchen. It was the perfect home base for our exploration of MDI.
We stayed at this beautiful home recently for our trip to Maine. The home is equipped with everything you could need or want for a vacation stay, the owner has thought of everything! Each bedroom and bathroom was beautifully decorated, and the linens were top-notch. There is a separate enclosed porch beside the deck, which was perfect for relaxing, reading and taking in the incredible view of the water in our backyard. We loved to sit on the deck to play cards, eat, and drink our coffee while listening to the wind rustle through the leaves all around us, it was magical. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and we loved the easy access to the shoreline below the property. This property is close to Acadia national Park, making our daily outings stress-free and time efficient. It is close to downtown Bar Harbor, restaurants, and shopping as well. Janice, the owner, was super responsive with any communication we had and was so helpful. We highly recommend this beautiful home and would 100% return should we get back to Maine.
Maine at its finest. Nine years later, back at this house holding so many memories for our family. Everything was pristine and like we remembered it. Can’t thank Janice enough for her hospitality, she took care of everything for us and was extremely responsive to questions.

HI Ming,
I just read your review. Thanks so much for the kind words. I am very glad you had a good stay and take back more good memories. Come again!
Best,
Janice
We had an amazing family trip at this beautiful property. Honestly, the pictures do not do it justice--we all ooohhhed and aaahhhhed when we pulled up to the house and continued as we explored the interior with beautiful views of the water. Everything is impeccably maintained and so well-appointed. We had everything we needed in terms of kitchen equipment (we cooked for 6 every day) and linens and there's enough space to do things together (like games) and have solo time in peace. We chose this property because of the location (on the water, very close to Acadia/Bar Harbor), amenities (kayaks that we used almost everyday), space for our family, and peaceful site. I cannot recommend the property enough and our host was helpful, prompt getting information to us, and professional. Such a wonderful vacation spot!
3 couples stayed here to take in the fall colors and Acadia National Park. This is a PERFECT place for 3 couples, with the master suite on the ground floor (with awesome 3-person sauna and 1-person whirlpool tub), and 2 suites upstairs each with their own bath (can definately hold more, but it was perfect for our group). Easy 7 mile drive to downtown Bar Harbor or 4 mile drive to Acadia. House is well appointed, great kitchen and beautiful great room with awesome view. We also enjoyed our morning coffee on the screened-in porch. Janice was quick to reply to our questions. Loved our stay!

Great Location Great House
Great location, very private and nice view. House was clean and well maintained. Everything was as advertised. Nice screened in porch. Kayaks provided and highly recommend using them, we really enjoyed kayaking in the calm bay waters footsteps from house. Very nice house. Our only negative owner said it takes 10-14 days to get your deposit returned, not sure why? We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this home!!

The check comes via an electronic check from the bank in Bar Harbor. That and the USPS first class mail (which often takes 7 days from/to Maine or across country) can add up. I tell people 10-14 days so they have fair expectations and don't get worried if the check is delayed by the bank or the mail. I also give 10 days for the renter to get their check to me when we make an agreement.
This house is amazing. I have rented a lot of VRBO houses and this might the best ever. The location was perfect for relaxing and quality family time. We used the house as a home base to spend time hiking in Acadia National Forest and time in Bar Harbor. After busy days it was so nice to return to this lake house. We cooked in every night for dinner using the grill and the fully stocked kitchen including preparing a lobster dinner. The waterfront provided for great views, kayaking and exploring for shells. Thanks again Janice for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. So many memories I am tearing up just thinking about them!

Glad you liked it. By the way we are on the ocean not a lake!
The listing does not do the house justice! It’s a perfect home with plenty of room for our family of 8. The waterfront location was perfect and the long driveway made the home feel secluded even though it’s right off the highway. The sauna was perfect at the end of a chilly rainy down outside.
Our only complaint was that there was no dustpan for sweeping and the vacuum in the closet didn’t seem to work well.
Our hosts communicated with us very well prior to our trip so we had no issues whatsoever.
Would highly recommend this home.
This ocean side home exceeded our expectations. Every aspect was like being at home, with all amenities and details included. We love when the host offers little details like tape, batteries, tools, flashlight, etc. in case it’s needed. The peaceful beachfront lot is remote and wooded; we saw deer and ducks every morning. We heard nothing but nature! Kayaking was a blast during low tide! The wood burning fireplace was a great aesthetic during chilly October nights, and the sauna felt awesome at the end of a day outdoors! Cooking and eating was convenient with a well stocked kitchen filled with plentiful bake, cook, and dishware. A eight person dining table allowed us to eat and play games together as a family. The large kitchen and dinette was a gathering spot every morning for coffee and grazing. The bedrooms were spacious and the mattresses firm and comfortable. So many windows! The sunshine and views were not wasted! Using the garage was a huge benefit for loading and unloading, and keeping our bikes clean and dry. The key lockbox and garage openers made entering and securing the property seamless. Janice was a fabulous and knowledgeable host, communicating early on with details of the house and surrounding area, and ensuring our visit to Bar Harbor was the best possible experience. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who enjoys quality, comfort, and a central location while visiting MDI.

Karlyn, Thank you so much for your kind words. I am so happy that I met your expectations (or even exceeded them a bit). Please think of this home when planning your next vacation and happy travels!
Janice
Five of us (husband, myself, and 3 young adults) had a wonderful time at this house. There was plenty of space for all of us to spread out. The house is immaculately maintained and it had everything that we needed. Being on the water and having a spectacular view was a huge bonus!
This rental is absolutely perfect if visiting Acadia National Park or the Bar Harbor area. The home is beautiful, clean and well stocked. The location is perfect for touring around and being on the Eastern Bay is a bonus!. Communication with the owners was great and very easy. I highly recommend this rental and do hope to stay there again if I have the opportunity.
This home provided our family with comfort, convenience, and many happy memories. Our son-in-law proclaimed that the den/office was a dream workspace for his teleworking. Our grandchildren spent time every day exploring the shore. I enjoyed the well-stocked kitchen, laundry access, and eating together in the dining room Everyone enjoyed time together relaxing in the living room, sleeping in the quiet, comfortable beds, and playing ping-pong in the basement. We were close to Acadia, restaurants, and Bar Harbor. This was the perfect property, and Janice, the perfect host, provided all the information we needed and answered all questions promptly. What a delightful time we had! Hoping to return another time!
this house and property exceeded our expectations by a lot.
Beautiful, spacious, great location and very comfortable.

About the host
Hosted by Janice Woychik
We have lived in this area for almost 9 years and custom built this home. We plan to come back to this area in retirement. I entertained large parties in this house and raised my son here. I come up during the summer to enjoy the home and check on everything.
Why they chose this property
My husband was recruited to work at the Jackson Laboratory. He loves to kayak and sail and a home on the water was our dream. I enjoy hiking and entertaining.
What makes this property unique
It's on the water! I love to walk into Salisbury Cove and post a letter at its tiny post office. I pick blackberries and blueberries on my property and watch deer, turkey and eagle from the house. An evening kayak is relaxing when you can watch the sun turn the sky orange and purple. During the July 4th festivities, I just take the bus in and don't worry about finding a parking space. Teens love the freedom of taking the bus all over the island.
