Glenwood Pond Cottage was rebuilt in 2017-18 by 30-year island residents. The cottage sits nestled in a pinewood forest off a private dirt road, located just 4.7 miles from the entrance to Acadia National Park. Perfectly situated centrally on Mount Desert Island, the house gives easy access to Acadia National Park, the popular tourist town of Bar Harbor (6 miles), and the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island, including the villages of Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor.

With 3 upstairs bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms the house can easily accommodate up to 6 people. Oak hardwood floors, a large enclosed morning sun porch, new stainless steel appliances, and new mattresses ensure a comfortable stay.

The house is privately located, with no other homes in sight and guests can enjoy a visit to Frenchman's Pond, just a short walk away, where Canadian geese nest annually, a beaver has made residence, and where frogs, turtles, deer, and songbirds make regular appearances.

Quiet and peaceful stay

This property is very nice. We were in the area to hike in Acadia National Park, and the location was excellent for this purpose. Nice big bathrooms and very easy check in.

Acadia Vacation

Clean, plenty of room, well-stocked (The house had everything we needed.) The pond and neighborhood were great for our morning walks. Convenient location to Acadia NP (5.6mi to Hulls Cove visitor center) and Bar Harbor. Did not miss A/C, but fans came in handy. Convenient to Town Hill market (great blueberry pie)

Hiking trip to Acadia

Home was as advertised. Super clean. Very quiet and private location close to Bar Harbor and Acadia entrance. Great gas stove and cookware. Minimum dinner and glassware so used dishwasher every night. Comfortable beds. Personal preference would be a better/softer pillow. The 3 bedrooms are upstairs. Master has a private bath, other 2 bedrooms share or use the 3rd bath downstairs. We would be happy to revisit during a future trip.

Spacious vacation home

As advertised, the house was in a remote spot but was also a good location for visiting multiple areas of Acadia NP. All of the rooms were spacious and there were a lot of windows. We saw deer (one buck with velvety horns) and we heard the owl. My wife enjoyed watching and photographing birds attracted to a flowering tree beside the house. We walked over to the pond twice but did not see a beaver. The kitchen only had small drinking glasses - we actually bought two 16 ounce glasses to use while we were there. We would definitely stay in this house again.

Acadia Gem

I couldn't speak more highly of this property. If you plan to visit Acadia and desire both close proximity to the park and yet a place that feels remote and quiet...this is absolutely the place for you! We loved the nearby pond and my husband and I enjoyed walking out to visit it each morning. We even saw a beaver swimming to the dam! What a perfect location. The house itself is big and spacious. More spacious than anticipated! Our family of 5 had plenty of room to spread out. The house was very clean and accommodating. We had everything that we needed and the kitchen was well stocked! Acadia was beautiful and a such a great adventure. We didn't have enough time to check out the Schoodic Peninsula so I know that we plan to return. We won't hesitate to book this property again!! A definite 5/5 stars!

Our stay was amazing! Spacious house, private lot, quiet area but still close to everything!! It was nice having washer and dryer, 3 bedrooms with queen beds and 3 bathrooms with a crowd of 6 adults. This home was amazing! It was even better than advertised! It was secluded but close to Acadia NP and downtown Bar Harbor. It was quiet and so relaxing with lots of room for everyone to have space! We did not have any problems- everything was there for our needs. We had one question and when I texted the host it was answered within 10 minutes! A great place to stay, you will not regret it

Enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again! Perfect location to Acadia,and downtown Bar Harbor! Very clean, and more than enough room for our family of four to hang out and have our own space. Kitchen didn’t lack anything either. We had a bit of an unexpected heat wave so a little warm to sleep without AC but plenty of fans. We all worked on the harbor puzzle during the week after long hikes during the day :)

This place was just perfect for three couples - three bedrooms and three full baths. We were close enough to more lobster than we could eat and more mountains and trails than we could hike on Mount Desert Island. The house opened with a code, instructions were clear for all things about the house, it was clean as a whistle and had lots of light. The kitchen looked like it had everything we would need if we had cooked, but we only used the coffee maker. The towels were thick, fluffy and plentiful, the sheets were soft, hair dryers and fans were provided, and the laundry was perfect as we began our second week in Maine. We would definitely recommend this VRBO!

The Maine experience

Family vacation , teen to adult children.Enjoyed our stay at this typical Maine style home . Spotlessly clean ,hardwood floors , well equipped home.Enjoyed grilling on the deck and spotting deer in the surrounding woods .For the Floridians there is no central cooling as we are accustomed too there are standing fans in the bedrooms . Opening windows are not an option due to bugs . So maybe warm in July and August .

Peaceful, Spacious, Immaculately Clean!

"Glenwood Pond" is a roomy, spacious home with a neat, clean, and welcome feel to it! We loved the side deck with the grill, as well as the relaxed sunroom and the VERY spacious kitchen area which lent itself to everyone hanging out together while meal prep was underway! The kitchen was well-supplied with a wide selection of pots and pans, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, gas stove/oven, and other cooking accoutrements. The owners even had the gracious forethought to include paper plates for those times when folks might be taking a meal with them! The living/TV room was a great spot to relax. The upstairs is arranged for three very spacious bedrooms, and two full baths (one full bath on the first floor as well) -- so very roomy!! Not to leave out the washer and dryer also on the first floor -- what a luxury to have that as well! The property itself is wonderfully situated, reasonably close to all aspects of Acadia National Park, facilitating our explorations of many of the park's areas. If we're able to make it up to the Acadia National Park area again, we will definitely want to reserve this home again! Thank you for being a huge contributing factor to the specialness of our week's vacation!

Spacious home in a wonderful location

This is our second year staying at this home and loved it again. The house is conveniently located about 15-20 minutes to Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Southwest Harbor. This spacious home is very private and offers many comfortable amenities. It is very clean - has a well-equipped kitchen and dining area, a nice enclosed porch and great laundry room. It is a wonderful place to hang out with friends and family.

Acadia vacation

The pictures do not do his house justice! Its beautiful, spacious and so clean! The location was perfect for us, only about 8 minutes from the entrance to the park and about 10-15 to downtown Bar Harbor. The location is so quiet and you can barely see the neighboring houses. We hope to return to Acadia and would love to stay in this home again!

Beautiful home in a secluded but convenient location

Five of our family members from NJ, CO, and MA gathered here to enjoy a vacation together. It was the perfect spot as the home was within 20 minutes of trails, lakes, Cadillac Mountain, and shopping. Set in a wooded area with its own private drive, while close to activity, we still were able to enjoy the privacy the location of the house provided. There were lots of rooms to gather in small or large groups. Four other family members staying in a different location came one day and the house never felt "crowded". We especially enjoyed the "puzzle room" or the porch as the pictures on VRBO describe. They have a card table set up with chairs and we all took turns getting the puzzle that was in the living room area completed.
