The room is on the first floor which is separated from the floors above by a stairway door, guest(s) basically have the whole first floor, No need to climb stairs. However, the building is not certified for people with disabilities, if you use wheeled walking device, due the narrowness of the hall way and lack of handrail in the bathroom, this listing is not suitable the people with disablities. I am sorry for this.
The first floor has a large screen TV connected to a surround sound audio system, you need subscriptions to view paid channels. Do not forget to log out of your account before leave. Quiet time is after 10PM.
The guest book is on the desk, it has all the information you may need. The suite can be locked from inside when occupied.
The double-size bed can comfortably sleep two people, but the room size does not allow two people to waltz.
Fresh bed linen, shower towels, shower liquids are provided. The shower towels are changed every two days.
Bottled water, coffee, tea bags are provided free.
A countertop mini kitchen includes coffee maker, water boiler, microwave, refrigerator, water purifier. In winter the room has oil heater. In summer the roo has a electric fan.
The bedroom has a working area that include a large desk, a very comfortable computer chair, a bright lamp, a TV and a stereo receiver.
First aid kit and emergency flash light are in the desk drawer. Smoke detector/Monoxide detector are in the hallway. No security cameras are inside the guest rooms.
Free street parking is available on Kenwood Ave, the street is only 100 feet away.
University of Chicago campus is 10 minutes walk away, so are many restaurants, shopping plaza and shopping strips on 53rd Street.
Buses and Metra trains can take you to Chicago downtown or
You can walk to visit the newly opened Obama Presidential Center the Museum of Science and Industry, Smart Museum, Oriental Museum, DuSable Museum, etc.
If you like, you can rent a Divvy bicycle and bike to Chicago downtown, it is about 10 miles. On the biking route to downtown, you visit McCormick Place, Soldier Field, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Field Museum, lake side biking, Buckingham Water Fountain, The Cloud Gate sculpture, Grand Park, Millennium Park, Ice Skating track, etc.
