About this property
Beautiful Cottage and Waterfront Access
Enjoy classic New England weekends and holidays year-round on Lake Waramaug’s Gold Coast. Waramaug is a Connecticut Heritage Lake, and was pictured in the book, “1000 Places to See Before You Die”. The cottage is located behind the Main House, in a private setting with easy access to everything the lake, and the surrounding Litchfield Hills have to offer. The house boasts two fireplaces, a deck, picnic area, stone terrace, and a private lawn area. The living room has a cathedral ceiling, a paneled fireplace, built-in storage and bookcases, a TV, and comfortable seating. The open kitchen is convenient to both indoor and outdoor dining areas. The Master Bedroom has French doors opening to the stone terrace, as well as a fireplace, and an adjoining bathroom. The second bedroom is furnished with twin beds and has access to a bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and shower. There is also an open office/work area with internet access, where one can set-up a laptop and printer. Air-conditioning units are provided and the house has wide-board pine floors throughout. The Cottage tenants have access to the waterfront and dock, which is shared with the Main House, and is located at the base of the driveway, across the road. The tenants also have the use of a solo/tandem kayak. The Lake Waramaug community takes pride in the meticulously maintained water quality and scenic views around the lake. The charming New Preston village is a short bike ride away with shops and restaurants specializing in locally grown produce. And, the Hopkins Winery is a great choice for a late afternoon wine tasting. Annual events on the lake include July 4th fireworks, college and prep school crew regattas, triathlons, and numerous road and bike races. Within a short walk are public beaches and playgrounds, canoe and kayak rentals, walking trails, a winery and a restaurant overlooking the lake. A short 25 mile drive will lead to Stony-Brook, a lovely nine-hole public golf course, or in the winter, to Mohawk Mountain, for a choice of 25 ski trails. A little longer ride will provide skiing at Butternut or Catamount and golfing at a number of public 18-hole courses.

Quaint relaxing stress free New England Cottage near beautiful Lake Waramaug. Well maintained and clean. Kitchen is fully stocked with all cooking utensils. Al is a wonderful host that respects your privacy while providing any assistance you may require. Very easy check in and out. We plan to come back again.
Lake view is beautiful. Magnificent natural light. Private, safe and immaculate. The host is a delight, and a very generous kind person. Highly recommended rental.
We had a great stay! The cottage was beautiful and perfect for our long weekend getaway. We enjoyed the fireplace and lake front access. Al was a great host and easy to work and communicate with. We look forward to another stay here!
This was our second stay and as the description says, a lovely comfortable house with a dock/seating right on the lake. Welcoming host and everything you need for a comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings.
We stayed over Thanksgiving weekend to be close to family in Kent and we didn't want to leave! Perfect location and great little cottage for our family of 4 our dog. Loved that we could use the woodburning fireplace.
My sister and I enjoyed a wonderful three night getaway, indulging in what has become an annual garden center/greenhouse tour in western CT! We also love stopping in at any vintage shops we can find - this trip we discovered The Hunt in New Milford, which was a great find! It was lovely to return to a cozy, well appointed cottage in the evenings - thank you hosts!!
This was the perfect get away for someone who wants peace. The house was lovely and had so many windows providing natural light. The private dock at the lake was exactly what I was looking for. The neighborhood is silent and the views are spectacular.
The cottage is quiet, spacious and well appointed with lovely views. The antique furnishings decorating the property evoked a sense of old New England. There are two working fireplaces, which we did not use, but certainly would have in colder weather. Detailed directions, instructions, and local information or provide provided by the host, all of which were very helpful. Because the driveway is narrow and blends in with the surroundings, be sure to arrive during the day. Our stay was an early November, past foliage, but the scenery was still quite beautiful.
We completely loved staying at the lakeside space. It was comfortable with beautiful views. The linens was very nice along with fluffy towels. We would stay here again in a second.
We loved our stay so much. Al's place was the perfect home base for exploring the beautiful Lake Waramaug, New Preston, New Milford and all of Litchfield County. We hiked many of the trails, had amazing meals and slept great each night. Will definitely come back!
Lovely home in tranquil lakeside location with your own dock right on the water. Ideal New England getaway.. comfortable, well-equipped home, pretty garden, welcoming host and charming small towns to explore.
My husband and I enjoyed our extended weekend at this lovely cottage. Tranquil setting in a clean and cozy home with access to the lake was exactly what we hoped for. Close to so many local sites. Would definitely look to rent again in the future in both the winter and the summer.
The Lake House owners live in New York City and have enjoyed weekends and summers on Lake Waramaug for more than 35 years.
