What is remarkable is that the hosts have thought of everything: Access is easy. The room I had (Studio One) is well laid out, with a handy kitchen. And the bathroom is also very well laid out. Add the comfortable duvet (needed when I was there in January), the comfortable chairs, and the well placed windows. And the savvy hosts even have added baffles at the bottom of the door to keep the heat in. Finally: Location, location, location.
Property was as advertised. Secure entry, great neighborhood close to the redline and an easy walk into the neighborhood and Andersonville. Very clean with plenty of towels, bottled water, and coffee!
The unit was very clean. Well appointed. Our host was available and accommodating. We look forward to staying at this property on the future.

Everything was perfect. Could not have been more convenient. Squeaky clean
The apartment was perfect, clean and cozy. Great location for going back and forth to Downtown Chicago and Evanston. And Kate, the owner, was really gracious. I’ll stay here again, for sure.
The neighborhood was bustling and hip, the hosts considerate and caring, and the studio was thoughtfullly outfitted to make our 4 night stay carefree. The el station is just a few blocks away, conveniently whisking us in to Chicago and up to Evanston. It would be easy to stay longer, and we look forward to future visits!

Charming, quiet, private retreat with all conveniences
Kate is a welcoming person who has created a very comfortable refuge for travelers. Nicely appointed furnishings, great shower, plus full kitchenette, good bed and bedding--everything you are likely to need. I love the courtyard and plantings. Parking on street and in lot on the weekends was easy--just as promised. We were happy here and hope to return before long..
Terrific studio apartment in super convenient location! Clean, quiet, spacious, nicely appointed & private. Single-digit weather was no hindrance here.Communication with Kate was quite good; no need to see hosts face-to-face, but we're sure it would have been a pleasure to meet.VRBO reserv'n system changes between booking and our stay appear to have caused a glitch, as (1) we had difficulty finding reservation via the App, (2) credit card charges and subsequent reservation adjustment credit showed host name and not VRBO, and (3) customer service via phone did not provide satisfactory result.FORTUNATELY, Magnolia Studios' website provided the needed contact info so that, ultimately, all worked out great! Thanks very much. We hope to stay again soon, so long as we have family in the lovely neighborhood!
This is the cutest place ever. Walking into the back garden to get to the coach house was so unexpected--you go from a nice city neighborhood into a little fairy garden, then into a very sweet studio, equipped with everything we needed.
Beautiful carriage house in edgewater close to L station. Very clean and with thoughtful amenities like bottled water, plenty of k cups for the keurig and extra towels. Host communication was prompt
Outstanding studio near GUS dance studio in Andersonville. The walk to GUS is a mile through a nice neighborhood. The studio is on a property with great owners. They have a beautiful garden. The studio is very close to the redline with access to anywhere in Chicago. The lake shore is also very close. We would definitely stay here again when we go to Chicago again. Great place and great location. Lots of nice touches: water bottles, coffee maker.
This VRBO experience was perfect every step of the way. I absolutely loved the property, and the price was right. Plus it’s 3/10 a mile from my son’s place , which is what brings me to Chicago. I’ll be back!
My husband and I were in Chicago for a couple of days before heading to Wisconsin to visit a friend. What a wonderful stay we had! Beautiful location (very quiet and in a great neighborhood), very clean, comfortable and well appointed. We felt very much at home. We highly recommend this adorable space and will be staying here in the future!
My partner and I had such a lovely time staying at this property! The amenities were very clean and comfortable. If anything, it would have been nice to having some basic cooking ingredients available in the kitchen.
A very rare find in a large city. Very modern accodomations and tucked away from the main streets. Kate was an excellent host; will certainly be staying again in the future.
Visiting a large, energetic urban center like Chicago is exciting. On the flip side, I like staying at a place where I can re-charge my batteries, enjoy nice amenities, leisurely self-catered continental breakfasts and a good night's sleep. Magnolia Studios meets all my 'go-to' qualifications. The unit is accurately depicted in listing photos. And the lush, gardens surrounding the carriage house building mirror the leafy neighborhood street outside As the stay lasted a week, appreciated access to washer/dryer on site. Kitchen got daily use after grocery-shopping at WholeFoods grocery nearby. I did not bring a car this visit. Walking to food/drugstores nearby was easy. The Edgewater location was excellent for Lyft rideshare used the entire week. Conscious decision to not rely on public transportation or do much walking. Rideshare was good decision for me. Studio unit on the second floor with a series of stairs to reach the top. As one of the party recovering from hip surgery, the stairs did not create major problems. More than adequate number of outlets for re-charging electronics. Spacious closets to hold a week's worth of clothes. Shower and strong showspray were a relaxing way to decompress after touring. Next time, would like to walk to the lake shore and start of the Lakefront Trail near 'Hollywood Beach'. Would definitely return for another stay at Magnolia Studio.
Beautiful neighborhood, lovely accommodations. Walking distance to great restaurants and subway. Won’t stay anywhere else when back in Chicago!

Clean, comfortable
The studio was perfect for visiting our daughter at Loyola. Was clean, comfortable and thoughtfully equipped. Bed was very comfortable. Loved the rain shower head. Everything brand new. Looks out on lovely courtyard garden. Very quick walk to the red line with easy access to Loyola (just a couple of stops) and a quick train ride right into down town. Kate was very responsive and made everything easy. Will return!

About the host
Hosted by Kate Wainwright
Originally from the south coast of England, I moved to Chicago in 1998 with my husband Ashley. We loved the City on arrival, and partifcularly liked Andersonville/ Edgewater where we bought and renovated an old colonial house in 2002. The neighborhood is fun, convenient and friendly, and we now feel very much at home within a warm and eclectic circle of friends. After many years of global travelling for large corporates, I had baby Teddy in 2007 and decided to stop checking myself in and sit on the other side of the fence. Numerous hotel stays have made me realise that travelling is both fun and tiring, and so Magnolia Studios excels at providing essential comforts. We aim to send you home feeling relaxed and refreshed after sleeping in super comfortable beds, and after being in a vintage building that is private, relaxing and completely renovated. We're on hand to help with any aspect of your stay, or if you know your way around, we just let you enjoy.
Why they chose this property
We loved the house at first sight, but what really made it for us was the original Chicago Coach House that was part of it. Our architect, somewhat of a Chicago historian told us how few of these are left in Chicago. These are now the studio apartments.
What makes this property unique
All the benefits that a major city offers, without the high costs and stress that usually accompany a city stay. Accommodation is tucked away in a 'gingerbread house' in a leafy garden. Once out and about, there is easy access to the main city center, to neighborhood restaurants and to local shops.
