About this property

Wonderful location in the heart of the Outer Banks. Located at Milepost 6. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants and a great coffee shop! House only rents Saturday-Saturday in the summer. House is 10 years old and was completely redone by me when I bought it in 2011. I put in all new kitchen appliances and flooring throughout. New dishwasher in 2022. In 2016 I had a completely new air conditioning system installed. In 2017 I replaced all the mattresses. in 2019 I replaced all the carpet in the bedrooms (its softer on bare feet now!)

My family and I use it a lot in the off seasons and the house gets fully booked for summers so it has everything I know you want! The Lazy Susan is located in Kill Devil Hills, NC at Mile Post 6 on the West (Sound) side. 3 blocks from The Front Porch-the best coffee shop in the OBX.

The house has 3 bedrooms-2 queen beds, 2 single beds and 2 full bathrooms with tubs that were all completely redecorated. Ceiling fans and new light fixtures throughout. Flat screen Smart TV in the Great Room. Flat screens in all bedrooms as well. Large deck on the second level. Gas grill. Free Wireless Internet. New outdoor shower in 2012. Perfect house for couples, families or small groups. It is a Beach Box (on stilts) so there are stairs to get to the living area. The house is pet friendly but there is not a fenced in yard, so you will have to walk them.

There is a 3 night minimum in the off season. 7 night minimum (Saturday to Saturday) Memorial Day-Labor Day.

Cute and comfy pet friendly home

We visited the area in mid-April to visit family with our dog. We had a wonderful time here. The home was very cute and had everything we needed when we arrived. Beds were comfy and kitchen was well equipped to enjoy meals in. The deck was perfect for enjoying the cool evenings under the brilliant stars. It is in a very nice neighborhood with friendly neighbors and tons of dogs so our pup felt at home. It's close to stores and great restaurants. We'd definitly make this our home away from home on our next trip!

Great place!

Enjoyed my stay with my two pups! TV in master bedroom did not work. Very clean but missed not being able to see water (either the sea or sound). Thanks for the memories Lazy Susan!

Terrible weather but great house

Me, my two sons, and our dog, stayed for six days in March. The weather was cloudy, windy, cold, and rainy, but we really enjoyed Susan’s beach house. Definitely recommended. Don’t forget to rent or bring bed linens, bath / hand towels, and kitchen towels.

Lazy Susan is great

It was really comforting to be in such great communication with the owner. The house was just right and kitchen was well equipped. Nice neighborhood and all went well. But being able to contact the owner if necessary was nice. We didn’t need to while there but prior to she was wonderful. Many thanks to her. We plan to return.

Lazy Susan

The house was very nice, clean and comfortable. Even though it's pet friendly, you cannot tell that animals have been there. The only recommendations I have would be a fenced yard for dogs and a more comfortable chair in the living room, such as a recliner. All in all, it was one of the nicest places I've stayed at in the Outer Banks.

This picture above is of me on the front porch of the house. I originally grew up in NJ, came to DC for college in 1985 and lived in the DC area until 2022 when I moved to Florida. I got married 4/18/15. Which means Bill and I combined 2 houses and The Lazy Susan 'inherited' a lot of extra furniture and kitchen stuff. We had a new addition to the family in 6/16 when my step-daughter got a puppy! Peaches says the house is very dog friendly! Then in June 2020 we fostered a dog because we were working from home and adopted her-Luisa loves it here!

Why they chose this property

I have been vacationing in the OBX since 1994. Every year I came down more. I finally bought this house in 2011 that I am renting out part of the summer and using it for my family. I love the neighborhood. Its quiet with lots of running and biking trails. I can walk or drive to the beach and the whole world is within 2 miles!

What makes this property unique

Prior to me the house was owned by an artist (painter). There are many custom touches including a large mural of a tropical fish. The bedrooms are custom painted as is the ceiling of the car port.

I recommend everybody takes long walks along Bay Drive and watch the sunsets from the piers.
