Wonderful location in the heart of the Outer Banks. Located at Milepost 6. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants and a great coffee shop! House only rents Saturday-Saturday in the summer. All new appliances installed in 2025.

My family and I use it a lot in the off seasons and the house gets fully booked for summers so it has everything I know you want! The Lazy Susan is located in Kill Devil Hills, NC at Mile Post 6 on the West (Sound) side. 3 blocks from The Front Porch-the best coffee shop in the OBX.

The house has 3 bedrooms-2 queen beds, 2 single beds and 2 full bathrooms with tubs that were all completely redecorated. Ceiling fans and new light fixtures throughout. Smart TVs in the Great Room and in all bedrooms as well. Large deck on the second level. Gas grill. Free Wireless Internet. Great outdoor shower. Perfect house for couples, families or small groups. It is a Beach Box (on stilts) so there are stairs to get to the living area. The house is pet friendly but there is not a fenced in yard, so you will have to walk them. The neighborhood is quiet and very friendly.

There is a 3 night minimum in the off season. 7 night minimum (Saturday to Saturday) Memorial Day-Labor Day.

This home is as advertised. The house is beautiful with furnishings that are comfortable and great quality. All amenities are included and it is perfectly placed between the ocean and sound both are a short walk away. The host is quick to respond and extremely helpful

Lazy Susan Top Notch

We had a great stay; the house was wonderful very cozy and comfortable. Close to almost everything, even the neighbors were nice. The only bad thing was those steps they are steep and narrow, but that's a minor thing. I even sharpened the knifes on our do-nothing day. We will definitely go there again. Maybe we can get frequent liven points. LOL

Thanksgiving at The Lazy Susan

This property is exactly as presented - a warm, welcoming home with everything you need. Just a short walk to the sound and a quick drive to the beach. Our small family enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving at the Lazy Susan and hope to visit again soon!

We only had one issue throughout our stay with the AC and it was quickly addressed by the owner. Everything from check-in through check-out went smoothly. We would definitely stay again.

Perfect stay!

We recently stayed at the Lazy Susan and had a wondeful time! The house was the perfect size and had all of the amenities we needed for four adults, a baby, and two big dogs. My son loved taking afternoon naps in the hammock under the deck. The house is located within walking distance of a coffee shop and a walking path along the sound, which was perfect for walking our dogs in the morning before it got too hot. It is a short drive to the beach, grocery store, theater, and other local activities. The house was very clean and ready for us at check-in. My only critique for this fabulous stay is I wish sheets and bath towels would have been provided because we specifically had to buy sheets for the beds due to not having those size beds at home. Overall, the house was fantastic. If you are looking for a pet friendly house in the OBX I highly recommend the Lazy Susan!

Lazy Susan was great!

First and foremost the owner was fantastic with communication! This was our first time booking through VRBO and I must not have read thoroughly the items I needed to bring. That's on me. Quick trip to Wal-Mart and all was good. While the place allows pets, we decided to leaves ours behind at the last minute. While much of the house seemed clean, the cleaning crew could do a more thorough job. After moving furniture around, you can tell they clean around things, not under/everywhere. Quite a bit of pet hair. The location is great. One day we did walk to the beach (12 min walk), but not conducive for taking paddle boards, cooler, and all the stuff etc. However, it is a very quick drive to public beach access parking and that is what we did the rest of the week. Would recommend owner provide a water hose for outside the house. It would be helpful for washing off items, either before bringing back in the house or packing to leave. While the outside shower was great, it had very little water pressure, taking a long time to even get rinsed off and the last day we were there the cold water didn't work at all. Lastly, the wifi connection was a little spotty at night while we had the baseball game on playing cards. Overall, the stay was good and would book there again.

We had a wonderful stay at The Lazy Susan! The house was spotless when we arrived, and everything was exactly as described. Susan, the host, was incredibly helpful from the day we booked the house and continued to be just as helpful throughout our stay, which made the trip even more enjoyable. It was also great to see that the ice maker and dishwasher were perfectly clean with no mold—something we really appreciate in a rental. The home is within walking distance to a nice walking trail and close to plenty of fun things to do. While we couldn’t go to the beach during our stay due to the weather, our overall experience was still amazing. We would definitely stay here again!

This picture above is of me on the front porch of the house. I originally grew up in NJ, came to DC for college in 1985 and lived in the DC area until 2022 when I moved to Florida. I got married 4/18/15. Which means Bill and I combined 2 houses and The Lazy Susan 'inherited' a lot of extra furniture and kitchen stuff. We had a new addition to the family in 6/16 when my step-daughter got a puppy! Peaches says the house is very dog friendly! Then in June 2020 we fostered a dog because we were working from home and adopted her-Luisa loves it here!

Why they chose this property

I have been vacationing in the OBX since 1994. Every year I came down more. I finally bought this house in 2011 that I am renting out part of the summer and using it for my family. I love the neighborhood. Its quiet with lots of running and biking trails. I can walk or drive to the beach and the whole world is within 2 miles!

What makes this property unique

Prior to me the house was owned by an artist (painter). There are many custom touches including a large mural of a tropical fish. The bedrooms are custom painted as is the ceiling of the car port.

I recommend everybody takes long walks along Bay Drive and watch the sunsets from the piers.
