The unit is beautiful! Beds comfortable and the views are outstanding. We loved having our coffee on the desk overlooking the bay. We were disappointed that the pool at the condo was too cold to be in it, even with 85 degree weather but that was not our hosts fault at all. We loved our staying in Costa Rica!!
We stayed at this lovely condo for 5days in March 2025! The host was very easy to communicate with. The condo is top notch from many aspects! Easy location to find, walking distance to beaches, fully furnished with ample supplies of bathroom towels & kitchen equipments! The balcony overlooking the Flamingo marina is just lovely to enjoy early morning sunrise or evening sunsets! We highly recommend it and most likely will come back again!!
The property was just as advertised, would recommend to anyone. The area is a great place to relax, beautiful beaches and great places to eat. We felt very safe and secure in the town. We will be returning next season.
This is by far one of the best condo we stayed. Amazing view. The bedrooms were huge, with comfortable bed. Decor and furniture are beautiful. Location is excellent. Walking distance to everything.

Nice location
We recently returned from a one-week stay at this unit. The hospitable owners were there to greet us on arrival (and departure) and show us around the space. The condo was an overall good place to base our family although we now wish we had rented a vehicle as there is not much use of taxis in Playa Flamingo and some seemingly close places are long walks in the heat of daytime.
However, the key thing we wanted to share in this review was a significant lapse in communication as the building ran out of water out first day and we received no details of what was going to solve the problem from the owners when we communicated the situation to them. If you travel here, you should be prepared for occasional water and power outages throughout the week. Perhaps this was the busiest week of the year and others will not experience it, but there was no backup water in the condo when we arrived/water went out. We had no water for 12 hours-and It was a holiday with many stores and restaurants closed. We left the condo with filled bottles of water for this purpose and hopefully the owners consider this for future guests as it was a very stressful way to start our trip.

Guests wishing to rent a car in Flamingo can do so from Economy or National Car Rental just a short walk away from the condo (less than half a block). Informal taxis can be found across the street from Economy or National. Flamingo is a small beach resort and anyone can steer you to one of the car rental agencies or taxis if you are not the walking type.
Guests are provided with the owner's cell phone number and email address.
In the event of emergencies it is more effective to contact the owner by phone as an email may not be seen or read in a timely fashion. Guests not having a local cell phone need not worry as the condo has land line telephone service.
The guest's complain of a water shortage on December 23 was the result of a public water system failure. The main pump serving the neighborhood failed and it took AYA (Aqueductos y Alcantarillados) several hours to replace. This was an isolated event and not a recurring problem.

Our Costa Rica vacation
Our trip was delayed two days because of weather and the owner, Raphael picked us up at the airport himself after having to cancel his driver so many times because of flight rescheduling. After showing us the area he helped us get settled in and showed us the unit. It is quite spacious with fantastic views from both the front and backside of the condo. The front looked out over Potrero Bay which offered just as spectacular views of a full moon rising over the bay, as Flamingo beach did offering the most amazing sunsets you will ever see. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to prepare meals, which we did quite a bit of. It had spacious bathrooms and huge bedrooms with comfortable beds. We were quite satisfied with the unit itself. The only reason I don't give it a five star is the washer and dryers downstairs that everyone uses were dated and only one of the three washers would spin your clothes. ( No fault of the owner). Food is high at all restaurants as well as grocery stores, but the places we ate, the food was very good. The Shack in Potrero, Tikis in Brasilito, Loco Coco in Flamingo just to name a few, all very good food. It is a beautiful area with friendly local Ticos that are glad to help all they can. I would definitely go again and would not hesitate staying in this unit again. Go and enjoy.

The guest's comment regarding the washers have been passed on to the building manager for inmediate corrective action.
Raphael’s condo was disappointing. The entire condo is old & tired, including the linens. It needs a major makeover: a deep clean, including the terrace (which had bird droppings weeks old in one of the corners), Fresh paint throughout & new, better quality linens. The main door screen was detached from the frame, & the outdoor lights on the main terrace didn’t work. Upon arrival, we had no internet for 12 hours and inadequate basic supplies (toilet paper, garbage bags, etc). To Raphael’s credit, he attended to these deficits next day. The kitchen sink was dripping/leaking, requiring 3 plumber visits, resulting in us having to shut off the water with the shut off valve under the sink & no hot water in the kitchen for 5 days. The condo is walkable to a local beach, shops & restaurants, but you must navigate a very steep hill, up & down; it’s not suitable for guests with mobility issues. The beach was not swimmable for us, and almost everyone we met, due to the big shore break & strong under tow. The condo does have a great view of the marina & lovely sunsets. The community is friendly & welcoming. We saw many units very well maintained, beautifully appointed, with weekly cleaning service; sadly, this was not the case for this unit. This was my first vrbo experience, and in spite of our disappointment, we made the best of it. We feel a partial refund is in order, as the unit was not as described on the listing.
We enjoyed our time at the condo. Playa Flamingo is very relaxing and low key. The condo is close to the beach and restaurants and food store. The condo has everything you need.
Flamingo Beach is the best beach around. The pool at the condo is nice with a washroom just off the pool deck . When we needed to ask Rapheal any questions he always got back to us. We would travel back to this condo in the future.
We had a wonderful stay here. Roomy. Close to many beautiful beaches to walk on. Two great pools. Rapheal the owners was so very friendly. A place we would for sure return to.
Thank you for everything.

Be careful!
Overall the unit is good and location is fine. But be prepared that the DAMAGE DEPOSIT, which you pay renting the apartment, most likely WON'T BE REFUNDED. We had read a lot of good reviews before renting, but didnt pay attention, many of them were old (2011, 2012 years). Now it is 2017 and the equipment seems to be quite old and worn out. The microwave stopped working on the 3rd day (the door locked after it finished and we couldnt get the food out). We immediately informed the owner, but he didnt bother himself to resolve this problem, moreover proposed us to take it to the service center of Liberia! We stayed without microvawe for 7 days more. When our vacation finished, I tried to contact the owner regarding damage deposit, but he didnt reply for 5 days!! When I called him on the phone, he yelled saying he is a very busy man to respond my emails. He bought himself a new microwave (ridiculously expensive!) at our expenses without any proof of our fault or even notification.
There are a lot of things in the apartment that are likely to break during your stay (for example the toilets, that didnt flush and my husband had to fix them almost after each use). Who knows what it will be next, the air conditioner, dishwasher, fridge or the balcony door, which by the way didnt lock at all. REMEMBER IF something breaks during your stay even without your fault, HE WILL REPLACE IT AT YOUR EXPENCES, and do not expect any explanations or notifications.
BE PREPARED to clean all the apartment after your stay, otherwise YOU WILL BE CHARGED EXTRA FEE for cleaning (though there is no such fee in the rental agreement). The owner loves his apartment so much, that doesnt care that you are on vacation. You are there to clean it :)
Finally, forget about using facilities of the hotel on Flamingo Beach (as you might read in comments). No longer available.

The night before their check out I received the following email from the guests;
"Dear Rafael
We are leaving tomorrow at about 9 o'clock!
Thank you for your beautiful condo! We enjoyed our stay!
Marina

The guest submitted the review only after we declined to refund the full amount of the deposit.
Our Russian guests (two couples and a toddler) were charged $195.94 out of their $300 deposit because the microwave in the condo was damaged and had to be replaced; the dishwasher drain was clogged with paper and required service; the dining room chairs had grease stains and other food substances on them and had to be steam cleaned; the dining room rosewood table had scratches on it (apparently no tablecloth or place mats were used although provided); the balcony lounge chairs were stained with a sticky substance; there were greasy hand prints on various walls which required sanding and painting; pots and pans where placed inside the kitchen cabinets with grease/oil in them and spilled when removed; and the wall behind the stove was badly splattered with cooking oil.

Lovely condo with a beautiful view
My friend and I stayed at this condo for two weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. The condo is as described - well furnished with good quality cutlery, pots & pans and linen and appliances. The view from the balcony is beautiful and depending on the time of year, also affords excellent sunrise-taking picture opportunities. It is only a five minute walk from Flamingo Beach which is clean, not crowded and makes for a nice, long walk along the beach itself. The water is clear and when the tide is in, you can do a bit of surfing if that's your thing. The weather was excellent and there was a very strong wind during the time we were there which made sitting out on the balcony very pleasurable. Good places to eat are the Monkey Bar across the street, Coco Loco on the beach, Angelina's and Marie's restaurant.
The family who owns this condo are just wonderful. We had arranged with Raphael to pick us up from the airport and he and his son were there waiting for us when we arrived. Raphael offered to stop at the supermarket where we could pick up some groceries to get us started and we really appreciated it. Raphael is truly a gentleman and he gave us some helpful hints about the area. We had arranged for him to take us to Puerto Caldera as we were taking a cruise from there and Raphael stopped in at the port the day before to make sure that it was a place where we would be safe (we are two senior ladies). I don't know of too many people who would do that.
The condo is on a hill (which makes for the spectacular view). It's easy to walk down but if you are not in good shape, you may want to rent a car or a golf cart to get you back up the hill. There is a grocery store at the foot of the hill where you can get beer, wine, and basic groceries - bread, butter, milk, eggs, etc. There isn't much of a town but that in itself makes it a very peaceful place, other than the vehicles going by the building. There are a few places you can make arrangements for tours.
All in all, this was an excellent vacation for us and I would stay here again if the opportunity presented itself.

Great Place to Stay!
First off, I have to thank Raphael & his family for cleaning the place themselves on a Sunday morning so we could check in early, rather than at the usual 4:00pm check-in. After the long flight, that was great! They were very friendly and helpful with any of our questions Re: restaurants, etc. Also sent us e-mails about upcoming local entertainment! The place itself was great - very large bedrooms, large kitchen & living area and very large balcony. Very spacious & modern and clean. Beds large & comfortable, lots of storage space, 2 bathrooms were good to have. Air conditioners worked well except when the living room one conked out but Raphael had a AC repairman there the next day. We normally didn't use the living room one anyway & just let the air-flow from the open balcony to the open front door to create a comfortable living area. We did after all come for the warm weather! We did set the A/C in our bedroom to 25 to 27 at night (depended on who set the control, me or my hot blooded wife). Turned off when we went anywhere since it cooled off pretty quick when we turned back on when we got back. There was also a lot of extra things they had on hand that were available for use. A large cooler, boogie boards, pool noodles, beach bags, beach umbrella, pool squirt guns for the kids, and lots of large, very good beach towels. The kitchen had lots of plates, bowls, dishes, etc. with enough cooking pots & frying pans. Also a whole china cabinet of wine glasses, glasses & additional plates, etc. Pots & pans not top quality but why would you for a rental unit? Plenty good enough for us. Large fridge with ice maker was well used by us as was blender & dish washer. Condiment & some spices were good to have in the cupboard as well. Great view from the balcony! Having each bedroom having views and access through sliding doors was also a big plus. Parking was never a problem. Only small problem we had was with the BBQ. We could only get 2 of the 4 burners to work so only used the once. Two swimming pools were very good but the larger one was, as expected, busier, but I think some didn't know about 2nd pool so we often had it to ourselves. The 2 beaches are close by & several good restaurants as well. Overall, this was a great place to stay - and highly recommended - great view, large size, well equipped, helpful owner!

A Great Value! Comfortable and Ideal Location
Raphael and his wife were there to greet us when we arrived at the condo. They gave us a "tour" and were very welcoming and friendly. The condo is almost like the pictures - well, the layout and view are exactly as pictured, but the bedding is different and there was no coffee table in the living area. The condo was clean, comfortable and in a great location. We cooked in several nights and had all of the utensils, etc we needed. There is a small store at the bottom of the hill and it is 1/4 mile walk to the beach (Flamingo Beach is awesome for waves and sunsets - also try the Coco Loco restaurant on the beach, really good food). We did the Lazy Lizard snorkeling/sunset cruise and that was fantastic. While we didn't see much snorkeling, we loved the experience. The larger grocery stores (we recommend Auto Mercado and Mega Super) are on the way to Tamarindo and are about 30 mins away. The pool at the complex is awesome with a wonderful view of the beach.
A couple of things to note: the view is of the marina and not Flamingo Beach. It is a sunrise view. It is spectacular, but there is a small road that runs beside the condo, and this is relatively well traveled by trucks and cars (they are doing construction of the hill). It didn't bother us, but we did notice it.
Overall, a GREAT value!

Perfect condo for our tripf
Rafael was a perfect host, he called us several times before we arrived to make sure our arrival was flawless. The condo had everything we needed and the views from the balcony were breath taking. We spent early mornings watching the sunrise and enjoying the peaceful views. While not everything is within "easy" walking distance everything was close by with some great restaurants and shops and we enjoyed the Monkey Bar across the street. It was perfect to have access to a grill and we took advantage of it to cook our tuna we caught deep sea fishing! I would recommend this condo to anyone looking to spend some time in Flamingo. Rafael was super easy to work with and very accomadating.

Perfect location with spectacular views
Beautiful well maintained condo with comfortable beds in the perfect location. Can't wait for our next trip. Owners are wonderful people and had our beer on ice as we requested, when we arrived. I have and will continue recommending this to family and friends. Suggest Marie's for breakfast, then a massage on the beach, back to the condo for a dip in one of the cooled pools to start your perfect day. We enjoyed ourselves greatly and the condo and owners couldn't have been better. ENJOY!

Great place, great value & amenities!
This is a beautiful condo with everything we needed for our family of 4 for our 2 week stay.
Being picked up at the airport by the owner was a great way to start our Costa Rican holiday as he provided us with lots of info about the country. He even stopped at the grocery store so we could load up on a few items. Terrific customer service! For our return to the airport, he arranged for a driver so it was easy travelling.
We loved the wrap around deck and watching the sunrise or enjoying the afternoon views in the shade! The kitchen was perfect for our family, we could make our meals and have 3 seated at the bar stools. Having the ice machine meant we could make lots of cool drinks or top-up our water bottles with ice
before heading out for the day! The master bedroom with King-sized bed was huge, with 2 accesses to the deck and with the walk-in closet, it was easy to keep everything tidy and organized. The second bedroom was perfect for our two teenage daughters. That second bathroom meant we could all get ready to go out to one of the many amazing restaurants within walking distance of the condo. Angelinas and Coco Loco were our favourites! The condo pools were never busy and always clean, although the lounge chairs by the pool do require some minor maintenance.
The added benefit to this condo was access to the Flamingo Beach Resort! Just a short walk down the hill, where we could get beach towels and lounge chairs at the pool with the swim-up bar or gain access to the beach. Coming off the beach, the showers at the resort meant we weren't tracking sand back up to our condo.
Perhaps the best part was the photo staff. They suggested a family photo session where we had lots of amazing photos taken and the price for the photos was a deal with no sitting fee! We are so thankful that we were given this option and their staff are very talented at unique family and individual poses.
For activities, we went horse-back riding at sunset at Basilito, great deal with a nice local young man. The zip lining at Castenguay was great value and a set of photos from them was a great bonus. We took a river trip where we saw a lot of wildlife and also spotted howler monkeys on the side of the road.
We highly recommend this condo and will definitely be returning to this condo and Flamingo Beach.

STLL A GREAT PLACE
This is the second year we have stayed here and it is still a great place for a long vacation.
Raphael & Dilia are the same great people who are willing to help with any issue , even if they are
not realted to their condo. The unit now also has a tv in the master bedroom which was a nice addition. Raphael had the grill filled with propane and we again used it several times each week.
The views off the deck are of the marina and the mountains. This year we were here for 2 full moon cycles and witnessed something awesome.....moon rises over the mountain. We had never seen anything like it before and it was spectacular. Some friends were visiting us that night and were very impressed with our acoomodations and the moon rise was truly a treat for them. One again,
a great condo, great location and great people.......STILL CAN"T GO WRONG HERE and STILL A GREAT PLACE !

YOU CAN"T GO WRONG HERE
My wife and I recently spent 5 weeks at this unit. Raphael and his wife, Dillia are warm, friendly, people and easy to get to know. They are justly proud of their rental unit and they really do want you to enjoy your stay. This place was the best equipped unit of any we have ever rented for a long term stay. The unit is spacious, has all the necessary appliances, pots, pans, and utensils and has
comfortable beds. The wrap around deck is huge and having your own gas grill was a big plus. Some of our favorite nights were spent grilling, dining, and relaxing on the deck and enjoying the surrounding views. Another plus was the use of the Flamingo Beach Resort. Their pool water was warmer than the condo pools, and my wife loved the lounge chairs that sat in the water.
For a short term stay, you probably won't need a car, however for a long term stay, I recommend you consider a rental. There are some additional great
restaurants in nearby Portrero and Brasilito and the car makes it very convenient to get there. It also allows you to do more extensive food shopping at the Super Campro near Haucas or the Auto Mercado in Tamarindo. This store has the
most “USA “like shopping with a good deli for lunch meats or deli sliced slab bacon, and a bakery with great bread and rolls. They also have a more extensive selection of wines and beers and they do run some specials. Across the street from the Auto Mercado is a good meat store, Don Fernandos. We had NY strips and filet mignon which was great on the grill. There is also a good fishmonger
on the road to Brasilito(across from the closed gas station) . Here, we were able to get fresh tuna, dorado, sea bass and jumbo shrimp. Tuesday and Friday after noon seemed to be the best days for the freshest fish.
Whatever you decide, you can't go wrong renting this unit.
