Experience a true Vermont country escape at this adorable red barn retreat. Nestled at the confluence of the Green River and Hopper Creek, this pastoral home offers a scenic paradise any time of year. The spacious lawn includes raspberries and blueberries in the summer and a pond that freezes over in the winter for ice skating. Inside, take in the peaceful sounds of the river while enjoying visits from the local wildlife in the backyard. There's plenty of room to spread out for yard games or you can just relax and soak it all in from the comfort of the private hot tub. At night, you'll be treated to brilliant starlight displays from the hot tub or around the riverside firepit. The main living area is fitted with a widescreen, high-definition projector complete with surround sound.
Trout is plentiful in the Green River for those with a valid fishing license (available just a few minutes away at the exceptional Wayside Country Store, whose motto is “If we don’t have it, you don’t need it”). There are several swimming holes along the Green River where you can go for a refreshing dip in the summer months or you can explore the woodland trails and forage for chantarelle mushrooms on the 30 wooded acres across Hopper Creek. Tubing and kayaking (and fishing) are common on the Battenkill River, and there is a popular local swimming spot on the Battenkill at the Arlington Covered Bridge where you can also visit the studio of Norman Rockwell. The towns of Arlington and Manchester are eight and 16 miles away, respectively. Bromley Mountain Ski Resort is 28 miles away and Stratton Mountain Resort is less than 40 miles away. Fresh eggs are available a few minutes away at the “Hen Den” off Sandgate Road, and local farmers markets like Clearbrook Farm are great sources of local meat and produce during the summer.
