About this property

200 Yr old Farmhouse on 45 acres

This experience is Vermont at its best!
Fully restored 200+ yr. old colonial farmhouse, on 40+ acres. Set on a spectacular piece of land that includes a Vermont mountain stream, open space, plenty of walking trails and some fun & challenging hiking opportunities up through the forest.
Original field stone fireplace in living room built by John Stanley c. 1800. The state of the art kitchen is well stocked and features modern stainless steel appliances: 6 burner professional chef gas stove, dishwasher and microwave, yet still has that old world charm with butcher block counters and wood beams.
3 sets of French doors that lead to a cozy back porch with panoramic scenery.
Take in the views of “the back 40” while sipping your coffee, listening to the creek and contemplating a walk through the forest up to Oscar, the second oldest oak in Vermont. Or savor a glass of wine as you watch the sunset behind the mountain and maybe plan a hike to the Northwest corner, where there is an old post marking the NY/VT state boundary. (Our property backs up to 800 acres of state forest and mountains.) Either way be sure to take a rest and take in the breath taking views at “The Fork” on your way up.
We love the area and property so much we also bought the cabin next door. Feel free to mosey over and check out the pond, the active Christmas tree farm and the tiny 10 person cemetery dating from the early 1800s. We also have goats, ducks chickens and bunnies at our property next door that you can visit and pet. (The cabin is also for rent VRBO 745850).
The farmhouse is conveniently located between charming Manchester with its fine restaurants and upscale designer outlets and quaint, historic Bennington. This is Vermont at its best- small shops, antique stores, museums, art galleries, Green Mountain views, fine dining and 30 minutes to Bromley ski resort (which turns into a summer adventure park).
Each of the two bedrooms have a new queen size bed . The upstairs bath is quite large and updated, as is the first floor bath.
Child friendly with toys, books, low bunk bed ( the bottom bunk is almost on the floor) ,pack n play, children’s bowls, plates cups etc
Pets must be pre approved- we have farm animals the free range on our property next door.

Amazing
Lovely home! Tranquility at it's finest! Babbling brook going through the back yard! Family enjoyed cooking meals together in a huge kitchen! Enjoyed fires in the wood burning stove! Enjoyed the scenery hiking the 45 arce property. Enjoyed interacting with the goats, chickens, and ducks next door. 9 and 11 y/o had a blast. Host of the property was very accessible to whatever we needed! Our check out day we visited historic Bennington (historic street from the revolutionary war era). I can go on and on! Thank you for sharing your home!

an oasis
The farmhouse was everything it's cracked up to be. The host was super-thoughtful. She went out of her way to make our stay smooth and pleasant. The property exceeded all of our expectations. Off the beaten path and yet reachable, this gem of a farmhouse made for great memories for me and my family.

Love it here!
This December visit has turned into a tradition! We leave completely regenerated and ready to take on the holidays and the new year! We bopped around to different towns, hiked up the mountain and enjoyed the grounds and I cooked amazing measles in this kitchen! Thank you for everything!!

Magical Stay!
Our stay was nothing short of magical! This home was beyond our expectation! This charming property is a walk back in time to another era. The original features of the farm are beautifully intact with all the modern comforts you would expect. We enjoyed strolling around the yard, listening to the brook and taking in the sight of the mist in the mountains. This home was convenient to Bennington and the surrounding area. We loved our time here and we cannot wait to return! What a treat! Susan is a lovely host and answered our messages promptly.
