This house was great! The owner was very communicative and welcoming. The house was well stocked. The porch was nice if it wasnt so cold i would have spent more time on the swing. It was close to the Hickory Convention Center. Quiet and relaxing home.
Everything was simply perfect! We choose this location due to our son getting married nearby. The host was quick to reply and accept our request, very flexible with us on our arrival time being a tad early and the home is cute. Great location for our needs! Very clean and nicely decorated (even had a little Christmas tree).
There were six of us and our two cats and we thoroughly enjoyed the porch, the views, the spaciousness of the house and having everything we needed in the house. It was clean and well stocked, peaceful and I loved the decor!! Cannot wait to come again!!
The Farmhouse is adorably country chic with old farmhouse charm and modern upgrades galore. It was the perfect peaceful getaway. The farm animals and their antics were added entertainment. The piglets chasing each other and playing were a delight. The antics of the hens, roosters, and guinea provided us with laughs. The host was around doing farm work and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We appreciate the Mercer's hospitality and will certainly stay again in the future.
I highly recommend The Farmhouse at Highlands Family Farms. We had a wonderful long weekend at the farm and greatly appreciated the amenities, property and value of our stay. We brought our dog, who was welcomed by the owners and who also enjoyed the magnificent property. We had a small issue with the thermostat upon arrival, and the owner's family showed up immediately to rectify the problem. They were super accommodating and sweet as can be! The entire inside of the farmhouse was beautiful and each bedroom was well appointed. If I am ever down in North Carolina again I will surely be staying here again!
Very quiet and nice. The owner john was very nice man.house was very clean and everything you needed was there. Would stay there again. The only problem we had was at the little convenient store with a women who was raciest didnot like biracial couples.
We loved seeing the cows, pigs and chickens. The kitchen table was perfect for us to play games. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the rockers and swing. The hosts were great to talk to. We look forward to going again!
Everything at the Farmhouse was what I read on the listing. We all thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Farmhouse. There was plenty of room in the house and plenty of supplies (dishes, etc) for all we needed.
We loved our stay at Highlands farm. Everything was clean and there was plenty of space for our family of 5. The house had everything we needed and was a much needed respite during our travels. The kids also loved being outside on the swings and running around to see the cows ☺️
Thank you again!
The pictures in the listing do not do this house justice….this house is stellar! This was an annual trip with my sister and we were both so impressed. The house was spotless and had a fresh smell. Check in was seamless and communication with the owner was prompt and thoughtful. Our beds were comfortable and we appreciated that each had its own bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked and even included some snacks and some farm fresh eggs. We brought food and ate all of our meals at the house except for one lunch at the owner’s farm- to-table restaurant, nearby. The only item we could have used was a toaster or toaster oven at breakfast. Not a big deal.We arranged for a farm tour our first morning there and enjoyed so much helping feed the piglets and learning some of the history of the farm. This farm is near several towns and we had a blast exploring what the area had to offer. Our favorite spot was the front porch with rockers and a swing. Drinking our coffee in the cool morning air and then enjoying the sunset in the evenings just couldn’t be beat!I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. I have stayed in many rental houses in different states and the Farmhouse is one of my favorites.
My family LOVED this place!! Driving up the driveway felt so nostalgic.
The house itself has been completely remodeled.
Walking in, the house smelled very clean and was very tidy. Everything was beautiful inside, decorated with a very cute farmhouse theme. It had all the modern conveniences, such as keurig coffee maker, plenty of outlets with USB ports, new kitchen appliances, a smart TV, and touch screen climate control.
The house had PLENTY of room for our family of 6, including 3 small children, 6 and under. The bunkbed room was spacious enough for a pack and play, allowing us to put 3 kids in one room. The other bedrooms were comfortable and suited us well. There were plenty of towels and lots of hot water.
The kitchen was amazing. All the appliances appeared brand new and it was fully stocked with everything you need to cook your own meals. There was also a very large bar which was nice for organzing our personal things, and sitting at the bar.
Outside was my favorite. We loved sitting on the front porch, especially in the morning, drinking a cup of coffee while reading the Bible, and getting the day started off right. The kids LOVED the tree swings!
Lastly, Jon and Kristin (owners) were GREAT! They were very friendly, hosptible, and super responsive to questions. They gave us a nice tour of the farm which we loved.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place! Very inexpensive for such an amazing property. The only downside is that we couldn't stay longer.
