Stayed with a pet
The house was plenty spacious for 12 people and 2 dogs during our 3 night stay! We had a hard time finding bedding for the pull-out sofa but Melinda was very responsive and helpful. The outdoor space was private and relaxing.

About the host
Hosted by Melinda MCKenna

Hello and welcome! We are a family of seven, and we’ve had some amazing travels. We have had some adventures as a large family with five wonderful children.
From camping in national parks to beach vacations and international trips, we’ve worked hard to cultivate a sense of wonder and curiosity in our children.
We’ve always encouraged our kids to embrace new experiences—whether snorkeling, surfing in the ocean, hiking up a mountain, or wandering through a new city. We’ve had the joy of witnessing our children’s eyes light up as they’ve stood in awe of breathtaking landscapes or learned something new from the places we’ve visited.
We’ve traveled across the country, explored many of the great national parks, and even ventured outside the U.S. on a few memorable trips. Each adventure teaches us all to appreciate the beauty of nature.
A few years ago, we found a place that captured everything we love about the outdoors—our mountain home. Nestled in a quiet, scenic area, it quickly became a special retreat for our family. Here, we’ve enjoyed countless moments together—whether it's gathering around the fire pit, watching sunsets, or listening to the sounds of nature. Our mountain home offers not just a place to rest, but a connection to the natural beauty that surrounds us.
The hot tub has been the setting for late-night talks under the stars, while the game room has seen plenty of friendly family competitions. We’ve shared stories around the fire pit, watched fireworks from the sunroom, and built countless memories in this space that we now love sharing with others.
One of the greatest joys in our lives has been sharing the beauty of our mountain home with others. Over the years, we’ve hosted families and friends, and each guest has brought something special to the home. We love hearing stories of how our guests have made memories here—whether it’s enjoying the breathtaking views from the sunroom, relaxing in the hot tub, or exploring the surrounding area.

Why they chose this property
This property has something to offer everyone. From 0-100 year old you will enjoy the comforts and amenities of Mountain Vista Lodge.
Opening our home to guests has been one of the most fulfilling parts of our journey. Over the years, we’ve welcomed families, couples, and groups of friends to stay in our mountain retreat, and we’ve loved hearing their stories. Whether it’s a family enjoying a vacation, a couple celebrating an anniversary, or friends reconnecting over a weekend, we take pride in knowing that our home is part of their special moments.
We’ve worked hard to create a space that feels warm and inviting. The house is fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay, from a well-stocked kitchen to cozy living areas and outdoor spaces that take full advantage of the mountain views. Our guests often tell us how much they enjoy the sunroom, where they can watch the sunrise or catch a fireworks display from nearby Dollywood. The hot tub has been a favorite spot for relaxation after a long day of hiking, and the fire pit offers the perfect setting for late-night conversations under the stars.
One of the things we love most is reading the kind words left by our guests. Many have returned year after year, and it’s been a joy to build connections with people who have come to love this place as much as we do. We believe that our home offers a unique combination of adventure and relaxation, and we’re always thrilled when others get to experience that too.
