A Slice of Rustic Paradise

We loved our stay at this lakefront cabin! Beautiful, quiet view of the water and forest! The cabin is old school rustic charm, a true mountain ambiance. We loved sitting on the front deck, drinking our morning coffee while the rising sun glistened on the lake.Melissa, the host, is wonderful and welcoming! We will definitely return!

Nice views and rustic feel.

Big Bear Vacations is great to work with. The house was good. Only thinga I would change would be the front door lock it was a little tough, and there was a heavy smoky smell.

Great but needs TLC

Loved our stay, we needed a slip for our boat and this place came through! It's in need of some updates and a thorough cleaning but for what we needed, it fared well.

Great location

Location was great. Right on the lake and close to shopping/food… I feel check in did not need to be at an off site location, this was inconvenient as I was only provided a small window for this. The house needs a few simple updates for functionality. A deep clean (baseboards, wall boarders, extra blankets) would be good as well.

Excellent stay

We had a great time! It was right on the water and we got lucky to have gotten a fresh snowfall just before our arrival. The house itself isn’t super updated, no dishwasher etc but the TVs and wifi worked great. We brought our own fire sticks from home and everything worked perfectly. For smaller groups, you can’t beat this place - incredible view of the lake and mountains and just minutes from everything in town. The cleanliness was fine, it didn’t feel gross but it wasn’t super clean either - definitely dusty and dirty under the beds and on some surfaces. Nothing major but also definitely noticeable.

Good unit with some drawbacks

The good: Fantastic view, home is very spacious. The bad: It smells like a smoker has been living there. The smell is strong at times. The oven's door broke the first time we used it. No diswashers. And you will need to bring paper towels/napkins with you.

Franks old Bear Lakefront

Great place to stay, awesome view, cabin as described needs a little TLC. The cabin was clean and it had all the things we needed to make it a great vacation. My only complain is the mattresses on the beds, need new ones all the beds were very uncomfortable.

Charming place.

Like the title states, it’s a very charming place, and I would definitely come back. That being said, there were some downsides, that were not the owners fault. The area of the lake in front of the house had quite a bit of moss and smelled bad. We were looking to swim, and didn’t get to. Later we realized if you walked about 300 feet north, the water was clear with no smell. I wish there was the chance to leave your trash, as if you were at a hotel, especially because there’s a cleaning fee, but that wasn’t a deal breaker(and most listings include that). What you see in the pics, is what you get, it’s extremely accurate. The view was spectacular. We had birds galore. And the people at the check in place were so nice. It was enjoyable for all 5 in our party, ages 60, 57, 28, 12 and 10.

Our Big Bear Getaway

We loved our stay at Frank's Old Bear Cabin. This place was perfect for the two of us and our two fur babies. The fenced backyard was quite big and our dogs enjoyed their freedom exploring it. The view , being on the lake front , was spectacular. We enjoyed watching each sunrise and sunset on the lake. The Location was perfect and so close to the village. The only thing that would have make our stay more comfortable would have been a king size bed instead of a queen. I'm sure we will return to this cabin again.

Disappointing Place

From the moment you enter the road to this house, it's a disappointment. The road is unpaved and so uneven, you feel like your car is going to tip over. The "cons" definitely outweigh the "pros" at this property. The carpeting should have been replaced 10 years ago. There are holes and shredded remnants throughout. There is only one rack for the oven. There are no oven mitts at all. The stove is not on level ground. Forget about cooking anything on it. The coffee maker came with no instructions and I had to search the web to figure out how to use it. The bathrooms are so terribly small and antiquated. The bbq was unusable. First it wouldn't start. They sent someone by to unclog the thing. But it was so filthy that it would have taken days to clean. Inches of caked on grease everywhere. The tv instructions were only partially complete. It took a long time to figure out what was missing. We ended up leaving a day early and forfeitting that night's rent. It was just a sad little house and I couldn't wait to get back home.
