This is nothing short of a spectacular home and location. Imagine the sparkling blue and green water of Glen Lake. Eagles, Terns, Swans, and Egrets are just some of the beautiful wildlife that visit this location. The main house in the Brookhaven Resort, sits right at the water's edge and is a front-row seat to this show of sun, stars, water, and nature. Sparkling Big Glen Lake awaits for swimming, boating, and fishing fun.

This wonderfully decorated home has 3-bedrooms, 2-bathrooms, and a charming sleeping porch. It is a ranch home on the end of a quiet street and faces west for some of the most stunning sunsets you will ever see.

Brookhaven house sleeps eight with 1-king, 1-queen, 2-twins, and additional sleeping on an enclosed porch with a twin day-bed and trundle (totaling two twins). The porch is a great area to relax, share a drink with friends, or have coffee in the morning. These accommodations are the perfect relaxing retreat. There are gorgeous hardwood floors in the kitchen. A spacious great room, kitchen/living room, with expansive views of the lake welcomes visitors. A wonderful deck stretches the length of the house, overlooking the lake with panoramic views! Sit on the deck and enjoy the peace of lapping waves. Features a dock (cannot be used for boat dockage), shared access to row boats, stand-up paddle boards, canoe, tennis/pickleball court, volleyball setup, including a fire pit. Cable TV, DVD, Wi-Fi, washer/dryer, and a grill complete the amenities. Enjoy the view of Alligator Hill from the deck. It is 10 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes and 1/2 hour to Traverse City. A Short trip takes guests to the village of Glen Arbor and Lake Michigan.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We took spent a week at Brookhaven house with 7 people - 2 parents and 5 teens - had it was wonderful. One of our kids slept on the screened in porch and loved it! the house is directly on Glen Lake and has a lovely yard - we brought spike ball and Bocce ball and played in the evening as the sun was setting. We very much appreciated the kayaks, paddle boards and pickle ball court - there was always activity for anyone who wanted it.

Disappointed

The property was not adequately advertised. I’m sure at one point it was a very nice home, but we found it dirty and hard to relax. Cobwebs everywhere. A over abundance of insects inside and outside the home. We have stayed on this lake many times and have never had issues like this. There was also evidence of mice. Dishwasher was broken and dishes in the cabinets were dirty. We had to hand wash everything. Mold in showers and while bedsheets were clean, blankets and comforters were not. The shared “resort” was awkward. Didn’t feel comfortable using the fire pit or using the paddle boards as there were so many people wanting them. The overall property was overgrown and not cared for. I called the property manager with no answer and also messaged and emailed. Still nothing. We made the most of it and tried to enjoy our vacation despite the disappointment.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful week at Brookhaven house - the house was clean (minus an ant issue in the kitchen) and very comfortable. The one tricky part was there was no room for our food as the pantry was left very full. Otherwise there was plenty of room for our family of five to spread out and relax. The deck and lake were gorgeous. Our children enjoyed swimming off the dock and we all tried out the paddleboards and kayaks. The location was great - far enough from the busy town but close enough to all the sights. This is our sixth year vacationing in Glen Arbor and this was one of our favorite rentals. We hope to come back!

The kitchen was well equipped with everything you needed for cooking. We enjoyed many dinners and sunsets on the deck that was as close to glen lake as you can get. Having the use of a large yard, tennis courts, kayaks, and paddle boards made it so you never wanted to leave.

Cat smell and obnoxious neighbors tainted our stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My first impression of Brookhaven was the cat pee smell as I entered the door. Initially I thought that it was due to the home being locked up for a while, but as the day went on, and I sat in the chairs and couch, I was hit with the odor even more intensely. There was cat fur and cat smell, which, if a renter has allergies to cat, he or she would be miserable for the entire stay. The smell never went away or got better during our 7 day stay even though we had all the doors and windows open all the time. The lack of privacy due to the rental units nearby on property was disconcerting. I did not enjoy hearing other's conversations or have people cut through the front of our cottage on their way to their friend's rental. Also, bring swimmer's itch preventative. Our whole family got it really bad. Other than the smell, lack of privacy and swimmer's itch, we thought the home was well appointed, roomy, and beautifully landscaped. The owners put a lot of thought into this home and it shows. Our family would recommend this home to other renters, but with a strong warning of the mentioned issues.
