Excellent location to see waterfalls in both Highlands and Franklin. We enjoyed the beautiful fall leaves !
This is an older cabin, so the only negative was a slight musty smell upon entering each time.

Our listing at the time stated no wifi and no air conditioning. The listing also shows the location of the cabin. Not sure where they we’re going, but downtown Franklin is only 15min from the cabin. We do have wifi now. Installed 7-5-22. Still no AC, but with summer highs in the low 80’s it really isn’t needed. I don’t think it is right to ding us for items we were completely open and upfront about in our listing.
My wife and I stayed here for a few days after Christmas. The cabin is older, but is in good shape. The bed we slept on was very comfortable. We did not do any cooking while we were there, but the kitchen appeared to be equipped with everything we would have needed had we cooked a meal. For several days before we arrived, the area had experienced record cold temperatures. As a result, the inside of the house was pretty cold when we got there. I turned up the heater in each room of the house, and built a fire. Within a few hours, it was warm and cozy inside. If I had to find something to complain about, I guess it would be the lighting in the living room. There is a light on each side of the fireplace, and a small lamp on a table at the other side of the living room. My recommendation would be to replace the 2 living room ceiling fans with ones that have a light. Keep in mind, this is me actively looking for something to complain about. The lighting situation was not a big issue. If we ever visit the area again, we would definitely consider staying here again.
This was a thanksgiving trip for me and my 2 teenagers. The place was a typical mountain "cabin". Small, cozy and perfect for those who aren't going to be spending much time hanging out in a cabin. We were on the go pretty much the whole time but the beds were comfy, the water was hot, and the heaters worked suffieciently. We used the charcoal grill and the kitchen extensively for thanksgiving and it had everything we needed (except for charcoal). There was even wood left over so the fire pit outside also got good use. The location is about 30 min from Cashiers and Highlands, and about 15 minutes to Franklin. We were not really hanging out in town so this didn't matter. Overall I am satisfied with the accomodations. Nothing fancy, which is how we roll anyway.
Great place, neat, tidy, everything you need. Cute bathroom! Fireplace with wood. Gorgeous deck, lovely hiking. We really enjoyed the place. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful area.
The house is older, but has obviously been extraordinarily well-kept. Basically no Internet or cell service, which is exactly what we were after. Sleeping with the windows open to hear the creek across the street was a real treat. Take a ride across Highlands Road to visit Quarry Falls, Dry Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls, and have lunch at Los Vaqueros.
Quaint home in a quiet location. I enjoyed being unplugged from the internet and having my teenagers involved in family time and games at the house. House was very clean and had the most comfortable bed . Plenty to see nearby if you’re on a weekend trip, and close to other attractions with a short drive. We will definitely be back. Awesome trip!
the place smelled, the owners had candles and air freshner everywhere so they knew about the smell. The home had dead bugs under the bed. And the tv never worked. Wouldn't stay there again.
We had a great time at the cabin in Franklin. Loved the babbling brook across the road and seeing all the stars at night. The cabin is very cozy and had everything we needed.

It really is a peaceful place. The stars are amazing.
My daughter said this was her favorite trip we have taken. We went tubing on the river, hiking on the mountain, fishing for trout, and Rock hunting. The Creekside Gazebo Cafe is the best place in Franklin to get soup, salad, and sandwiches (trust me, the food is worth the wait). Thank you so much for letting us rent your cabin. We will definitely be renting it again.

Quiet time in Franklin 9/6-9/9/10
I stayed here 3 nights for a visit with relatives in Sylva (about 17 miles away). The 2 bedroom/1 bath cabin was fine & my communications with the owners before the visit was prompt with all my questions answered. The kitchen was adequately equipped...no dishwasher but I didn't cook a lot. The ceiling fans kept me nice & cool..it was in the 80's when I was there. Plenty of DVDs to entertain vacationers as there was no cable or internet. My Metro cell phone was not able to receive a signal at the cabin...other cells may work. I was able to make calls in Franklin...also McDonalds has free WiFi in both Franklin & Sylva. Walmart Superstore is in Franklin...BiLo supermarket is on the way from Franklin. I would stay there again.

About the host

We are almost empty nesters. We love the mountains so much that our children both attended Universities nearby. Summer and fall are our favorite times to be in Franklin. The temperature in the summer averages 20 degrees cooler than our home town. We love to grill and enjoy several restaurants nearby. Lucio's, Cafe Rel, and Root and Barrel are our favorites! We started playing disc golf in town at their new course recently. We've made several updates to the floors, bathroom, and upholstery. we look forward to sharing our getaway with you!
Why they chose this property
Franklin is a great place. Activities throughout the year make every visit enjoyable and exciting. We honeymooned in nearby Cashiers NC and have returned to this area every possible opportunity.
What makes this property unique
We enjoy just taking time to relax and unwind. We also love gem mining. Nothing beats the feeling of discovering a 'Honker'. Picking on the square is another of our favorites. Picking is every Saturday evening April thru October. We love the village of Highlands. Our favorite time to visit is Sunday afternoon. Most of the weekend warriors have left for home and it is peaceful and much less crowded.
