Lovely, well-appointed cabin on a flowing stream. Really enjoyed the secluded feel of being deep in the woods, yet only 15 to 30 minutes to central Highlands.
We have had a very difficult year and this was the peace we needed. Very serene and lovely.

Very clean almost everything was new sheets dishes the shower all remodelled which was very nice but the place is very small. It’s one bedroom and small area with sofa then there’s a sunroom looking over the water. It’s beautiful to look at but the water streaming is so loud and it’s 24 seven. Also you definitely need a four-wheel-drive..

To be able to sit on the deck and watch and listen to the sounds of the creek rushing by is so relaxing. The lanai with the view of the creek and the sounds of the creek even inside is so cozy . Beautiful place!
This house was conveniently located close to many beautiful waterfalls. The house was comfortable and peaceful, the sound of the stream was wonderful and soothing. The porch is back is great!

Thank you for the 5-star review. We are thrilled you enjoyed the area and our place.
Our stay at the Cozy Cabin was absolutely fantastic. We truly enjoyed our stay. It was the perfect time to visit the area with the changing of the leaves and the cooler weather. The cabin was comfortable, and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the sunroom listening to the creek flow past. We had no issues and want to thank Tammy and Clint for renting the cabin to us! Highly recommend this location as a place to stay when visiting the Highlands!
The cottage was clean and well appointed, in the woods next to a beautiful mountain creek. We were novices to this area and the drive in on Buck Creek Rd was a little intimidating. By the end of the week after exploring the area we understood that the winding mountain roads are a feature that enable residents and visitors to experience the phenomenal environment.
Loved the cottage and the creek! We found the swimming hole with no problem! We hung out in the sun room and played games while listening to the rushing waters. Perfect stay for the four of us. We will be back! We had cool nights so air conditioning wasn't necessary.

Thank you for the great review. We are so glad you enjoyed it! Come back anytime!
We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is perfect for a couple though we did have our granddaughters stay one night. The couch bed in the living room was very comfortable. The house overlooks Buck Creek and the lanai room and deck provides a beautiful view of the creek. It is only 15 minutes to Franklin and Highlands is only 30 minutes away also. The owners were great - very responsive and helpful. I would recommend this for a couple looking for a house on water and convenient to town.

Loved the beautiful area between Franklin and Highlands. Lots to do and see. Not a cabin, our mistake, look at the pictures. Cute getaway for two people. Loved the coffee bar. So sorry, unable to use enclosed lanai (with the creek sounds) for a couple of days due to cold weather. Dehumidifiers do work but rather noisy. More than sufficient linens and kitchen appliances. As noted in description, Very Steep driveway.
My husband and I stayed for a week at this lovely property. Although a few houses are within view, we only saw/heard people about 3 times. We loved cozying up in the sunroom despite the cool autumn temps, watching the leaves fall and listening to the noisy creek just feet away. We've stayed at several properties in the NC/GA mountains, from off grid single room cabins to luxurious homes with spectacular views. This one is unique and memorable! I would highly recommend.
We came from FL for cooler weather and it was. Cabin is charming and equipped with everything but a reading lamp or two in the big tv room. (Strictly for tv watching) Wonderful location but a very sharp turnoff to chokeberry rd and a very steep twisty descent to the cabin.
(Actually had to backup and pull forward again on a rainy morning as my tires were spinning r-and I’ve driven mountains and snowy roads many times) Maybe there should be a larger sign at the turnoff to chokeberry rd?
chokeberry rd so when you turn into or out traffic would be aware.

Thank you for staying at our place. We are so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the ideas as well.
Pros: As soon as you arrive you see the creek. It’s breathtaking. We spent most of our time there. A special place. Peaceful and quiet. The inside is small but very quaint. We loved the decor. The sunroom is where we gathered and hung out for the most part. It stays cool and you can hear the water moving. It really is a nice place.
My cons: The beds were absolutely terrible. We found a blow up bed in a cupboard. That helped, but for the other two it was pretty unpleasant. So that was a bummer. Also, it would have been nice if the spiders and cobwebs had been dealt with just a bit. I cleaned them up a bit but there was much more to get lol
I really hate giving any cons since it was a sweet spot. Maybe update your beds. Especially for that price.
My wife and I returned recently from a week at this property and I would like to describe it to you. There is a roaring creek right behind the back deck surrounded by thick trees. It is relatively isolated so that has to be taken into account. We did not see single soul for a week. The oven did not work upon arrival and this was brought to the attention of a very available out of state owner. He handled the situation well and we arrived at a mutually acceptable conclusion.
I think something else needs to brought up. This house is not of conventional construction and I don't think that is well represented in the description of the property on the website. It was built in two sections. The original section looks to be a sort of "kit" house in which sections of the home are shipped to be assembled on site. That section is very small but it had a large wraparound deck. At some point, part of that deck was converted to sort of a three season room that does not share HVAC present in the rest of the house and can be prone to a bit of a musty smell. It was not a deal killer for us.
But for it's faults, this little place is absolutely insanely beautiful, and it has an indelible effect on you. We hated to leave.

Thank you for your review. We just left the property and a brand new range is now installed for our guests.-sorry it wasn't there for you. You are correct it is a park model home with a beautiful big lanai addition facing the creek. We put in a new kitchen table and we also added two large dehumidifiers which should help keep the humidity down as the property sits right on the creek. We hope these dehumidifiers are the answer to the humidity. Thank you for staying at the Berry Patch-Cozy Cabin Creek.
This was the perfect place for our anniversary getaway. It rained the first day so the lanai was such a beautiful place to sit and watch the creek and listen to the rain. It’s the perfect distance from both Highlands and Franklin. We will definitely be back.
The location of this house was perfect. It was close to several waterfalls and we were able to see multiple each day. The house is small but it was perfect for our little family. We enjoyed listening to the creek out back and spent a lot of time on the porch. The driveway was very tight for a 1990 Suburban but not too tight! Anything smaller than that should make it just fine 😂 there are other houses within view but we barely saw people the whole time we were there and the creek drowned out any noise there might have been. Overall a great stay.
A simple cottage beside a rushing mountain creek. A beautiful setting that calms the soul.

About the host
Hosted by Tammy and Clint Berryhill
Clint and I are Floridians who love the mountains of NC. Our children spent many summers visiting the place and have so many fond memories of fishing in the creek and rafting down rivers and spending time in the mountains. Our oldest is a graduate of USF and our youngest is finishing college this year at FSU.
Why they chose this property
We have been going to the property for over 20 years and our children loved their time at the creek. The rushing sounds of the creek and slowing the pace down for a while in the Highlands and Franklin, NC allows us to disconnect and relax. The property in the mountains and the creek makes for the perfect mountain vacation getaway. There is so much to do from hiking, white water rafting, waterfalls, breweries, Cherokee Casino, Cherokee village, Asheville, and so much more.
What makes this property unique
Staying in the Highlands is conveniently located to so many places and taking day trips in any direction allows you to be home by the dark to enjoy the cabin and the rushing creek and mountain airs allow for great sleeping.
