Disappointed and sad

The property manager was very unhelpful.
The vacation rental was very clean.
I was somewhat unhappy with the location.
I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.

We were at Sanibel Moorings for 1 week and the place is nothing like it used to be. We have been visiting Sanibel Moorings for more than 30 years and were told when we booked at the beginning of December 2023, that we would be able to get a Condo on the ground floor. We called at the beginning of March to ask about restaurants that were open and were told none of the Ground Floor condos would be available for 6 condos our party had booked. This was the first of many disappointments we would encounter. They are charging double what they used to and offering much less and have the nerve to charge you for a 2nd parking pass when the parking lot is empty. There is only 1 pool available, the beach is full of seaweed, the grounds are beds of mulch and the "no seeums" eat you alive if you dare to go outside the condo. The only staff friendly to us for the entire week was Bill in the office and when we checked out, the office staff did not even ask us about our stay. They just cared about getting our money. There are no Washer/dryer in the Units, and you must take flashlights, as there is no lighting in the complex at night. Also, lots of noise during the day from workmen. However, we tried to make the best of our time, but the bugs are a real problem, especially for the younger kids. Most of the restaurants and stores on Sanibel are not open, however Doc Fords, Cheeseburger Cheeseburger and Island Pizza are. Captiva seemed to be in much better shape which made us sad for Sanibel. We left very dissatisfied with that experience.
