Perfect Hayward Cabin

This is a back to basics lake home that sits 50' from the shores of Lac Court Oreilles. New roof, new stove, new furnace, new furniture and new mattress. A very well maintained 2 bedroom, 1-1/2 bath corner lot home that is directly across from a boat launch and just a couple hundred feet from snowmobile trail #3. Blocks away from fuel, food, supplies and some very good eating and drinking establishments. The home will sleep 4 comfortably , is equipped with a complete kitchen including a dishwasher, washer and dryer, a fantastic wood burning stove for breaking the chill and creating that North Woods atmosphere. Hayward is just 15 minutes away and Stone Lake is even closer. The Berkie Trail head is an easy short jaunt. If you cc ski, ice fish or ride the great Sawyer County trails, this is the perfect home for your stay. There is no internet at the cabin.

Northwoods getaway

Our family has a cabin close by, and we booked this rental to accommodate all family members. The cabin is near the Lake, in a quiet setting. The house was well appointed with linens, kitchen supplies, & family games.

The property is older but thats not a problem. It does need substantial TLC. There are towels and wash cloths but they are in a hall closet that needs some major organization. There are some small trees growing up through stairs leading up the deck. The tv did not work to play dvd's. While the cabin is old we enjoyed ourselves.

Great location, very large bedrooms which is unusual for this area :) we were able to put our kiddos on an air mattress in our room so grandpa could have his own room. I gave 4 stars only because I didn't realize there is no wifi and no tv (movies only, no antenna), but that's what some people love about the north woods! It just made things a little difficult for us to research activities and keep the kids entertained after long bike rides. There is free wifi down the street at the coffee shop and a fantastic public resort with a great swimming beach just a few minutes away! All the amenities you need for cooking etc. are available to use. Thanks for another memorable trip to Hayward!

Great spot!

Pictures dont do this place justice. They have done a nice job and its well stocked with the essentials. Neighborhood is great for a morning stroll. Highly recommended!

The cabin was nice and clean. One toilet wasn't working properly. Not a huge deal. Not much in the way of outdoor seating and could've used a fire pit. if you have a boat and intend on using it every day it does get a little monotonous taking it in and out of the water each day. Overall was a nice experience.

Left early. Dirty floors and on all other surfaces - Disgusting! It appears no caretaker. No cell coverage or cable at property. Smelled of smoke. No place to sit on outdoor deck.

Great place for skiers. Wood stove is awesome!

We stayed to ski, close enough to Hayward to run in for dinner, far enough to be really quiet. Several roadhouses close by. Skied Makwanagon, Birkie trail and Stone lake. Owner was great! Thanks for letting us stay!

We didn’t stay!

This property listed no smoke and no pets. Since both smoke and pets were evident, we left and spent no further time there as one of us has a lung disease and the other has asthma. The owner knew we left when we called her immediately after leaving. Since the advertising was false ( no smoking and no pets), we feel that we should be reimbursed without a great deal of red tape.

The property exceeded our expectations.

Your ability to wash and dry clothes really enhanced the stay. We really enjoyed the relationship we developed with the caretaker of the property. Typical Northland Hospitality from the locals enhance the stay. We had no problem with unwanted insects as a previous reviewer eluded. The owner was very prompt in answering questions we had prior to our arrival at the property. If anything kept the review from being a total 5 out of 5 would be the fact that we had to take out trash with us upon departure. The kitchen was well equipped. We didn't want for anything, EVEN TV! Although the area around Hayward, Wisconsin offers mini lodging opportunities, we would probably pick this property again.

Nice place, good location

Sorry we were only able to spend four days here. This is a spacious, fully equipped, fairly modern house; it's too nice for me to call it a cabin. We were happy to find two actual bedrooms instead of partially divided "sleeping areas" or lofts. Plenty of room to park our truck and 17' boat. Easy access to the boat launch, although if you intend to spend multiple days boating LCO you will need to launch / pull your boat daily. Only a few minutes from downtown Hayward, and centrally located among several other lakes; we spent most our time on the smaller lakes. The only minor drawback, as I get older, was shortage (not complete lack) of air conditioning. The outside temp and humidity both reached 90 for two days (not common up here), but the several fans and a small window AC unit in the dining area kept the interior reasonably comfortable until the sun set. This was our fifth VRBO rental, and my personal favorite so far.

We had a great time and highly recommend this cabin. The owner is very kind and quick to answer any questions. My whole family was very impressed. The kitchen is fully stocked and their rooms are very cozy. Love the cabin decor! It is by the boat loading dock! Comes with a gas grill and patio furniture! Dvds and games for the family! All around awesome experience!

We enjoyed our stay. My first impression when I walked on the deck to find a dead duck was a little surprising. The cabin was very nice inside. The kitchen had an infestation of ants. There were tv's in the cabin but only Dvd's to watch, no signal. The area was a very quiet location with lake access across the street and we enjoyed walking around the area. The wooden deck and steps were very slippery when wet.

Clean, cozy, and in a great location!

Viki is very friendly and responsive to all questions. She always got back to me very quickly - thank you! This was a great cabin right by the lake. It was clean and the water was already turned on for us when we got there (awesome!). It has a washer/dryer in the kitchen, which came in very handy during our stay. I would definitely stay here again; it was a great place to vacation!

We love to fish the lake in summer and winter and we snowmobile the Tuscobia Trail as well as all the other trails in the area. We like Trail's End.

Why they chose this property

In 2000 my brother mentioned he would like to own a place up north for snowmobiling. He hatched the idea and I pursued it and here we are. We love our home and work on it whenever we are here.
