You're tucked into a quiet, family neighborhood full of large homes, off the busier roads with none of the noise you'd get closer to downtown. And you're still genuinely central, Winston-Salem is compact enough that you can cross the whole city in about 15 minutes. There's also Old Salem, a genuinely well-preserved historic district dating back to the 1760s. And you're minutes from a wide range of restaurants and coffee shops, everything from high-end spots downtown to classic casual, plus real scratch-made bakeries and local coffee shops like Lot 63 Coffee in Old Salem. You have access to every space in the house except the garage. Parking fits 2 cars in the driveway. Stay was good. The fence needs repair if pets/dogs are to visit. Yard is huge and perfect for visiting pets.

The house looked and smelled very clean when we entered. All of the areas were clean and tidy. It was a very comfortable home for my family to stay in while we were in North Carolina. Location is close to shopping and places we wanted to visit.

The house was clean and in a great location. We were two families, two kids each. Kids had a great time, huge yard. Fun stuff to do all around. Went to the quarry and trampoline park. Very family friendly.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm really glad to hear you enjoyed the location and felt comfortable in the neighborhood. It’s one of our favorite things about the property too. If your travels bring you back this way, we'd love to welcome you again anytime!
The fenced in yard was ginormous and flat. My two dogs loved the extra room to run and play fetch. The fence was a little broken in places but not enough that my dogs could get out (even if they tried). The tub in the master bedroom was very nice! Overall the house was comfortable and clean
No pot holders or dish towels. Ran out of paper towels. The upstairs toilet wouldn’t flush. I ended up replacing the handle because it wasn’t lifting the stopper in the tank. The arm fell off in the tank

Family Wedding weekend
We needed a place to stay close to a wedding venue. It was a great location for that. Neighborhood is nice. Home was clean upon arrival. The house worked well for our group as far as sleeping, bathing & seating in living room area. Beds were comfortable & bath towels/cloths were plenty. Backyard is quite large with a very small patio. There is nothing to do in the yard & no outdoor chairs to sit in. We did not use yard much as there was not much to do. A large section of the fence on the back of the property was knocked down & the section of the entrance gate was off, leaning against the house.
Kitchen was lacking in silverware for our group of 9. There were only 5 forks. This property states it can accommodate 12, but there was not enough plates or glasses/cups to even accommodate our group. We brought paper plates which we needed to replenish during our 4 night stay. There were no kitchen towels or potholders. There was no dish drainer in sink. There was only the one paper towel roll on the sink, we had to buy another. No foil or plastic wrap.
There were plenty of bath towels, but no towel rods in the bathrooms to hang once used. We had to use the rods in the closets to hang towels. The bedrooms were sparse as far as having someplace to set things. Only one nightstand in the bedrooms. The bonus room has a small desk, mirror and a small dresser.
Overall, the home was okay, there are some needed minor repairs & additions that would help make this be a great property.

About the host
Hosted by William West
I grew up here, my family is here, and this is still home for me. I wanted to create a place I'd genuinely want to stay in myself and feel good about sharing with people when they come to visit. Over time, my partner Jenn has joined me in supporting this vision, and it's become something we do together.
This one in particular has hosted a lot of families and groups coming into town for a wedding weekend or a hospital visit, so we made sure it could actually handle a bigger group comfortably, the extra beds, the massive fenced backyard, all of it. I enjoy creating spaces and experiences for people, so we've focused on the details, from the furniture to the art on the walls to having TVs in the bedrooms, with the goal of making it feel comfortable and homey while you're here.
Have a great stay. If you need anything, just reach out. We're happy to help. Welcome to Comfy Cottage. — Will
Why they chose this property
We immediately fell in love with this neighborhood because it offers something different from typical urban sprawl, with homes that are well-spaced and sit on larger lots. This home is perfect for a family, and the surrounding houses are all well-maintained—not mansions, but simply nice, quality homes. Each home on the street is over 1,500 sqft, and the HOA takes great care in maintaining the overall quality of the area.
I understand that everyone has different standards, but personally, I find this to be a solid, welcoming home that I always enjoy visiting.
What makes this property unique
The honest answer is the backyard. It's massive and fully fenced, which is genuinely rare for a rental this size, most rentals in the area either don't have a yard at all or advertise "partially fenced." Ours is the real thing, room for a cookout, room for the dog to run, room for kids to actually play.
Beyond that, sleeping 12 across a king, three queens, a full, and a sofa bed means a bigger group isn't squeezed into a house built for six, and the kitchen has real cookware and tools for anyone who wants to actually cook, not just microwave.
I'm for quality over quantity in all things I do professionally, and I think you'll find this home is just what I describe as a joy to be in, at least for myself. I think and hope you'll agree. — Will
