Welcome to Mountain View Retreat! Your home away from home. This commodious house comes complete with all the essentials needed, a cozy fire place, and an amazing view of the La Plata mountains. This space accommodates with two full baths, and three bedrooms, a large living room and extensive kitchen. An inviting fire pit waits with seating that is situated perfectly for watching sunsets and gathering in the outdoors. A play set for children on the south side of the property ensures that outside is fun for everyone. An additional space in the entryway is set up to house ski/snowboard gear for when winter sports are calling. Please know that on the lowest level of this lovely home, there is a family that resides below where you will stay.
Located 15 min from town, all the restaurants, trails, shopping and activities that Durango has to offer are close by.

Wonderful stay while we moved our son into Fort Lewis. Front rooms were really warm, so I reached out to property and owners immediately responded and brought us fans to help! Home was beautiful, had everything we needed and then some.

Family stay

We had a very pleasant stay here while in Durango. The photos don’t do this place justice on how big it is! There’s so much space throughout the house and there’s practically everything you could need while there. Our family of 6 felt right at home. Close enough to the city center and far enough to feel secluded from the world.

Spectacular view

The property is beautiful with great views of mountain. We rented this property because we needed more space and it was as advertised with space for six people, although we didn't actually need that much because some family elected to stay in town in hotel, but it would have been great. very clean and beautiful kitchen and main living area. We would go again if we wanted to go to that area.

Family vacation

Our family consisted of 6 adults and 1 child. There is ample room for everything. The view from the back deck is great! The property is located within reasonable distance to local activities. We have stayed in homes for the past 15 years for vacations and this kitchen was the best as far as space and anything you may need for cooking. Dry nice house with a great rental price! Highly recommend.

Stay was comfortable and had everything we needed for a successful vacation house. The host had supplies ready to go and the house was very clean. My absolutely favorite VRBO stay EVER! Home is stunning. Wildlife in the back yard each morning. Kitchen was fully equipped. Beds were extremely comfortable. The views from the back deck were breathtaking.

We had a blast at Cozy House! Close to Durango and all of the attractions. Property was well stocked with all of the necessities plus some extras which was a great surprise. Super clean and comfortable. Would 100% recommend!!

Relaxing holiday

The property was amazing, Had amazing views, was close to everything. Lauren was a great host and communicated with me quickly when I had any questions. I am so happy I chose to stay in this beautiful home. Plenty of activities in Durango, scenic hikes and train ride to Silverton. Can’t wait to come back.

A beautiful getaway

My family and I came out for the polar express. We ended up having to book this place last minute due to our other home ended up getting canceled less than a week before our trip, and honestly we we’re surprised the home was available as it is beautiful, clean, and was about 20 minutes away from town which was nice to relax.The grill was out of propane but a simple call and the owner brought it within the hour. We would book again!Bonus they have a friendly kitty who greets upon arrival

Beautiful location

The house is very clean and spacious, perfect for our family of 5. Many deer, hawks and rabbits to view from the large porch area. The kitchen was well equipped, all appliances are very nice. The AC works well, which was good for us since Durango was having record high temperatures.

Great stay, great property.

Property was beautiful, well appointed and clean. Finishes were excellent. Even the bathrooms were immaculate. Most properties, the shower tile is grungy and mildewed. Not this one! The only comment I have is we were not aware that someone else lived downstairs. That’s not a problem but it was a surprise. I would suggest that this is noted in the property description.

Lovely Home outside Durango

We stayed for two nights, and I wish we had stayed longer. It didn’t feel like a rental property, but it felt like someone’s home. The kitchen was well stocked, the appliances were nice, the linens were nice, the mattresses were good…The view was amazing with great common area to hang out in. I hope we can make it back someday. And…there’s a playground in the backyard! We had trouble getting the lock pad to work initially, but we eventually figured it out. The owner was quick to return our call. It is a bit outside of town. It took us about 20 minutes to drive to the grocery store.

Lovely home with a few things to consider

Our stay was enjoyable overall! But, there are a few things to consider before booking. Depending on who you are, an aspect to note is the 20-30+ Christian books throughout the house. While providing a bible for guests is a common thing, the sheer volume of religious literature was a bit uncomfortable for us. Most of our group identifies as LGBTQ or has had past negative religious experiences, so this made us uneasy. We fully respect that we are staying in someone else's home and honor all beliefs, but the amount of religious material felt overwhelming and somewhat forceful (on nightstands, by toilets, etc). It didn't give us the impression of an inclusive or welcoming environment. This isn't evident in the listing or photos, so it's worth considering if this could affect your stay. A couple of grocery considerations: we didn’t care for the water from the tap or fridge filter, so we bought jugs of water for the weekend. Also, while basic spices are available, if you like hot sauce, spicier things beyond chili powder, or salt that isn't basic iodized table salt, you’ll need to bring those. Considerations aside, the property itself was lovely! We enjoyed cooking in the well-stocked kitchen, waking up with coffee on the patio watching the sunrise and resident deer, relaxing on the big couch, and appreciated the laundry supplies after our hiking and biking adventures around Durango. We were also grateful for the coffee and soy milk the host provided for us.

This was a perfect place for us to stay while we were in Durango. It is spacious, well stocked and has a beautiful deck. We enjoyed it so much. We came early home early one night to cookout dinner and enjoy the.great room. We loved all the wildlife in the area.

Overall a nice property. I do not feel it was accurately listed that there are folks that live in the below part of the house....so that was a surprise for sure. Other than that it was conveniently located and a nice property.

Very nice location with a nice view of the mountains. Very well supplied and stocked with plenty of bathroom and kitchen needs. Quiet area. If you like to cook like I do you will not like the gas burners! None of the burners will turn down below medium high. You can’t simmer or even cook egg’s without burning. That’s my only real issue that made my stay less than a 5 star. Internet went out 2 times. Lost one day of work due to no internet. Owner responded and reset it the same days. Lots of room and the AC worked well. Beds were soft if you like soft mattresses. Plenty of parking. Friendly small children living in first level.downstairs! Nice wildlife in yard. Great bathrooms. Nice tub upstairs. Master AC was noisy but worked great. Hot tub on deck is an eye sore. Should be removed to allow more seating on the deck. Not all windows have screens. All in all I recommend this spot. Good value for us.

I am originally from Oklahoma and moved to Colorado in 2016. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with Durango and the surrounding area. Despite being a smaller mountain town, Durango has a lot to offer! During the winter I enjoy snowboarding and in the warmer months hiking with my dog, and biking with friends. Hosting has been quite fun for me as I like meeting new people, allowing guests to partake in my abundant home, and sharing all the adventure SW Colorado has to offer.

What makes this property unique

The view from my property is breathtaking as the La Plata mountains are on full display from the back porch, not to mention the amazing sunsets that take place over the peaks each night! The neighborhood is quiet and out of town just far enough to feel secluded. The deer and wildlife are a great addition to the yard and quite entertaining to watch in the morning and evening hours.
