We had a great stay. Just for two nights, but my son wanted to go to where we could see the Stars. This is great property, I don’t think you could get closer to the lake without camping.
The views are breathtaking and the location is fantastic. It is a short drive to 11 mile. Great for a family getaway. Once the kids are fast asleep there is a rec room for the adults to enjoy. The house is VERY well stocked and the owners are very accommodating. Highly recommend this property and we will definitely be back.
My son loves to fish so we thought this would be a great place for his birthday weekend. We all loved it very much. The house and property were perfect for us!
We wanted place for three generation gathering. Perfect place for nine of us. Good hiking with no traveling. Just walk out the door and you are on your way. Beautiful views.
The views were gorgeous and it was awesome to have access to the outdoors right out of the backyard gate. Our dog loved running around all the open space and our kids had a blast. The pool table and darts were fun after the kids went to bed. The fireplace wasn’t working when we were there but it didn’t affect our ability to stay warm at all since the thermostat worked great.
We had a wonderful time! The view and location are amazing. The kitchen was well stocked. Only concerns, we couldn’t get the fireplace to work although we left the switch in the on position for a few minutes and the bedroom with the twin beds was cold. Once we brought the heater up from the basement it was fine. We would still visit again.

Spectacular views
The views from the property are spectacular. The house is spacious and kitchen well appointed. My only negatives are that the internet wasn't working because we were at the end of the service month. Also, there was laundry left in the machines. HOWEVER the beauty of this place more than makes up for those minor inconveniences. I would definitely recommend it
We only stayed two nights due to a plumbing malfunction but David handled it great and we got refunded immediately! It was a wonderful place! We would have loved to have stayed longer. You will not regret renting this amazing property. I couldn’t stop staring out the front window at the views. Breath taking. You will not need to leave the property once you get there with your food. They have everything. Plus who would want to leave such a beautiful place.

Extraordinary property with astonishing views
Our family just returned from our stay and I can't say enough good things about our trip. Upon arrival, we were instantly excited about the house and the next few days we would be spending there. Everything was in great condition; from the kitchen to the bedrooms to the bathrooms, all were clean, comfortable and ready for us to unwind for a few days.
We spent our days exploring the lake and surrounding woods and trails. Each morning we would depart in a new direction, never running out of new places to journey to. When we returned to grab a quick lunch or prepare dinner for the night, the kitchen was chock full of quality cookware and utensils, making us feel right at home.
After exhausting days touring the surroundings, the cool mountain air and the comfortable beds were just what we needed. We slept well every night, waking up refreshed and ready to continue our adventures the next day.
Super Location.
Could use a deep cleaning. It looks like it's flipped after each guest but seldom deep cleaned. Built-up grime on every handle in the Kitchen. Thick dust on bathroom lights and vent fans. Looks like a bomb went off in the storage room where the extra paper towels are kept. No TLC given to the house in a long time.
The one evening we tried to watch one of the DVDs in the rack only to find out that the DVD player was not connected to the TV.
Great porch to watch sunsets could use a couple of comfy chairs. There is an eclectic collection of camp chairs in the lower room and garage that could be carried up, but for the nightly cost a few non-camp chairs should be provided.
The Card table could use some chairs, really not practical to use camp chairs.
For over $700/night total with fees I expect better.

We Love The Dream Stream Retreat
We have visited the Dream Stream Retreat twice, and LOVED IT. We are planning to book with David for two trips this summer, as we enjoy this cabin and the area. First, the cabin is very clean, neat, and comfortable. David has everything you would need to prepare meals and feel at home. The closeness of the cabin to the Elevenmile Reservoir, Charlie Meyers State Wildlife Area, and Spinney Reservoir gave us plenty of fishing options, both fly and spinning. We have had some excellent fishing trips both to the Dream Stream and Elevenmile Reservoir. The outside cabin area has plenty of space and a hose for us to rinse and dry our waders. After meals in the evening, we had coffee and a mini “fly tying’ clinic to prep for the next day at the kitchen table. The lighting was perfect for this. My cousin from Las Vegas loves this location, the fishing, and the wildlife. On this last trip, we saw pronghorn sheep, alpaca, coyotes, buffalo, and wild burros. The burros are a hoot as they take over the road once and a while with their antics. I have shared the secret of The Dream Stream Retreat with several friends, since we have enjoyed it so much. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, then the Dream Stream Retreat is for you!

Thank you for your kind review. What you may not know the Adobe was bought by the owner of the Broadmore as the site for an ancillary hotel for the Broadmore. Fortunately for us it wasn’tbuilt. But the views and location are still hotel quality.

Comfy and beautiful
We needed a little family "staycation" and chose to drive down to the Dream Stream Retreat from Boulder, CO for a long weekend in March. It was a fairly cold and dreary set of days, but we had a wonderful time lounging in the living room with the toasty fireplace, playing board games on the big kitchen table, cooking for ourselves in the fantastic and well appointed kitchen (2 coffee pots was a nice touch for a family with lots of coffee drinkers!). The game room downstairs was chilly until we got the big space heater going and then even that was a fun space to play pool and socialize. The property sits high on a hill and has lovely views of the lake below. We did attempt to walk down to the lake but it was muddy and wet and we got really stuck in the mud! But the layout of the house is so nice - we tromped our muddy feet straight into the garage to get cleaned up before padding back upstairs to get warm again (and we got a large chunk of our deposit back because the cleaning fee was so low!). The jetted tub in the master was nice too, after that muddy mis-adventure.
A baby-gate for the stairs would be a necessity for toddlers, and there is a certain amount of fitness and agility required to really get the most out of this property. It's also well away from towns - we thought maybe we'd drive to town for a meal or too, but it's really too far out for that. We felt safe there, and loved being able to park our car in the garage. Overall I can't think of a thing that wasn't ideal for us. Thanks!!

Thank you for your kind review. FYI the little mining town of Guffey is 15 minutes away with two restaurant/bars both with decent food and live music on the weekends. There is also a breakfast and lunch diner. Guffey is worth the visit for its character and antique shops. I am taking up a child gate for the stairs; a good idea thanks.
Retreat holds true as theme for this wonderful setting tucked away in between mountain ranges. Such a peaceful setting full of outdoor wonders with views that go on forever containing so many varied landscapes. Hiking was spectacular and lake water absolutely beautiful. The hosts have provided the best truly authentic Colorado experience here with a home that has everything you need to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We hope to return someday soon.

About the host
Hosted by David Carrick
We own properties in Colorado and a ranch in Patagonia, Chile. We are drawn to waters, fly fishing, kayaking, sailing, skiing, biking, hiking, hunting and adventurous destinations.
Why they chose this property
Access to the Dream Stream, Eleven Mile Reservoir and State Park with seclusion and expansive 360 degree vistas of water, forests, rock formations and the Rocky Mountains. We are in awe of the views.
What makes this property unique
We can walk out our gate into the State Park down to the reservoir or into the forest in areas of the Park rarely visited. We can fish and hunt on our own property or access the park for the same. We can fish the evenings during the peak season on the Dream Stream when the other anglers have left and have 5.5 miles of river to ourselves. We also have our own stocked trout pond. And the views are spectacular of water, snow capped peaks and expansive Colorado skies and sunsets.
