Our 2 room beach apartment is ideal for a family who want a holiday or vacation DIRECTLY on what is regarded as the best beach to stay on in Exuma and the only beach with resident GREEN TURTLES. We were pleased to have won the traveler choice, and certificate of excellence awards for the third consecutive year from the worlds largest trip advisory organisation.

The apartment is particularly useful for parents with young children or those with accessibility issues as everything is on the ground floor and the few paces to the beach is on flat ground.
One Queen bed is in one room and a King or 2 Twins is in the other room - each room has its own shower room. A full kitchen has stove with oven, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee makers etc.
Fully air conditioned plus ceiling fans for comfort together with flat screen TV, radio/CD player and FREE, UNLIMITED WiFi.
A patio with table and chairs allows for outdoor relaxing or meals.
Just a few seconds through the palm trees in our garden takes you directly onto the beautiful Hoopers Bay beach -a 1/2 mile (1 kilometer) long soft white sandy bay gently sloping into the incredibly blue safe and calm water which is ideal for all ages to swim, snorkel, play or kayak. Hoopers Bay is sheltered from the prevailing winds so is always calm and safe.

Great Stay

This was my 3rd time to Exuma and I took my 2 teenagers for their first time. Peter and Betty were wonderful hosts. They answered my questions quickly and were waiting for us when we arrived to show us around their wonderful property. The location is wonderful, very close to 2 grocery stores and a short distance to Georgetown. I would definitely stay there again if I make it back to Exuma!

Great Place To Stay On Hoopers Bay

This property is in a good location right on the beautiful beach at Hoopers Bay, a stunning setting. Peter the owner was there to great us on our arrival, he is very welcoming. We had lots of questions about the area, Peter took time to tell us all about the island, he is able to arrange trips for you, car hire and fill you in on the history of the island. We really appreciated the time Peter spent with us, he and his wife Betty were perfect hosts for our stay on Exuma.

Perfect location for a family with kids or group.

The Sandy Palms beach house was a perfect location for our families week in the Bahamas. The secluded white sand beach in Hoopers Bay was great for swimming and kayaking. We rarely saw other people and its a prime location for swimming with sea turtles. My kids swam with turtles almost every day of our trip. The beach house is walking distance to both a good deli and a grocery store and pharmacy yet private and secluded. Peter Betty were great resources of information on sites and services around the island and provided a car for rent on days we wanted one. Highly recommend for families with children.

Relaxing in Paradise

We had a great week at this property. It was really nice to get up and walk the beach every morning, and see turtles and rays. We were able to swim with the turtles on a couple of occasions. The beach is awesome!! The apartment although somewhat small was adequate and comfortable for the 4 of us. The property itself was well maintained, and landscaped nicely. Peter is a wonderful host. He was always willing to accommodate us, and help us with finding the best spots on the island to adventure to. One of our top vacations ever. Thanks!

Awesome Vacation

The property was the best location on the island in my opinion. A beautiful Long Beach, sea turtles in the water, kayaks to enjoy. Just a relaxing get away with no hustle bustle at all. PETER was awesome to give us information on what to do and see and where to eat and get food. We loved our little apartment which was just a few seconds away from the beach. It had everything we needed for a great vacation. I would highly recommend this place if you go to Exuma. Great beach and great people to rent from. Also enjoyed having the jeep for a week to go touring the island that was available to rent from PETER. Having the free local advice is priceless and made our vacation that much more fun!!

Schönster Urlaub ever

Wir reisten vom 20. Januar bis 2. Februar 2023 nach Exuma. Der Kontakt mit den Vermietern Betty und Peter verlief sowohl vor den Ferien, wie auch während unserem Aufenthalt, stets problemlos. Peter informierte uns nach unserer Ankunft ausführlich über alles Wissenswerte über die Insel, zeigte uns sogar persönlich Einkaufsmöglichkeiten wie Lebensmittelläden, Metzger, Apotheke etc. Das fanden wir sehr zuvorkommend und erleichterte uns den Einstieg ins Inselleben perfekt! Das Appartment ist sehr gut und zweckmässig ausgestattet. Wer selber kochen möchte, findet allerei Küchenutensilien. Hervorzuheben sind unserer Meinung nach die äusserst bequemen Matratzen! Was alles andere noch toppt, ist die aussergewöhnliche Lage direkt an der Hoopers Bay, einem der schönsten Strände Exumas. Jeden morgen mit den dort lebenden Schildkröten einen kleinen Strandspaziergang zu machen (ohne die Tiere zu füttern!!), war eines der Highlights dieses "once in a lifetime" Urlaubs und wird unvergesslich bleiben! Super fanden wir, dass uns von Betty und Peter Kajaks zur freien Verfügung gestellt wurden. (Dies ohne zusätzliche Mietgebühren) So konnten wir die Bucht noch besser entdecken. Alles in allem war es unser schönster Urlaub und wir sind ganz sicher, dass wir nach Exuma zurückkehren werden.

Outstanding location, sea turtles are the best, owners are wonderful and attentive to your needs

We would highly recommend this location and rental for folks that want to spend their time outside, sunning, swimming, reading, snorkeling, kayaking, boating, etc... A great value and wonderful neighborhood... two convenience stores well within waking distance. I would recommend renting the car as offered. It allows you to explore more of this awesome island and it’s courteous people. Just remember you are on island time ...

Great location, amazing hosts and beautiful island!

We can’t say enough about our first visit to beautiful Exuma! From the first communications with the hosts, Peter and Betty, we felt we would be in good hands and felt their warm welcome. We are a family of four with two boys (14 and 12 yrs old) and had a few questions about the location, access to services, rental of vehicle, what to do, etc. and they provided all necessary information from the get-go. They arranged for a pick-up at the airport and Patricia, the taxi driver, was the best! Peter met with us the first day to go over the basics and then took the time to provide us with local info, not-to-miss beaches, restaurants, activities and so much more! The location was perfect! Our youngest son was on the beach every morning by 7am to play in the sand and I followed a bit later to do yoga on the beach. We felt safe everywhere we went on the island. We had the beach to ourselves, along with the friendly Sea Turtles that swim in Hooper’s Bay! We rented a vehicle from the hosts, which was easy and practical. We spent one day on the southeast side of the island and visited Tropic of Cancer beach as well as Forbes Hill beach! Again, we were just a few families sharing these beautiful beaches! The next day we took Elvis’ water taxi, recommended by Peter, to visit Hamburger beach and Stocking Island! The extra 5$ to visit Hamburger beach was well worth it as we were alone to snorkel beautiful beaches and saw a Giant Starfish, a Barracuda, Sergeant Major fish and more. We then went to the main part of Stocking Island where we had fresh Conch Salad, which I LOVE! The Conch Salad guy gave us leftovers and we were able to feed the Stingrays! What an amazing feeling to touch and feed them! He then recommended a few coral reefs close by for some snorkeling! The next day, we visited the northeast side of the island where we visited Cocoplum beach, Exuma Point, Barraterre, Three Sister Rock beach, Emerald beach and a few more ;) Mary Anne and her staff at Exuma Point restaurant were so friendly amd helpful! And the food? Delicious!! The next day we did a full day tour with Coastline adventure where we got to swim with sharks, pigs, feed the most docile Iguanas, snorkel Thunderball grotto and ride a boat among the Exuma Cays! There is lots to do, great places to eat (you have to try the Guava pie at Shirley’s, the bbq chicken, pork or Grouper fingers at the Fish Shacks, and Conch salad! The local people are welcoming and very friendly! Two thumbs way up!!

First Rate Accommodation In Paradise!

Sandy Palms is an excellent choice to stay at. Right on gorgeous Hooper's Bay Beach. The villa & property are extremely well maintained by owners Betty & Peter Oxley & their staff. They are very attentive to your every need. All amenities are provided & are in excellent working order. We did boating, fishing, snorkeling, swimmimg, beaching & walking. Rent a vehicle & drive south to Little Exuma for lunch at Tropic Breeze with a spectacular view, beach & snorkeling. Drive further south to Williams Town for terrific rum cake at Mom's bakery. North of Sandals go to Big D's conch shack for superb conch salad on a great walking beach. In Georgetown go to Peace & Plenty boutique hotel for lunch at the pool bar with a terrific view across turquoise blue water to Stocking Island. You can also cook your own food at Sandy Palms & enjoy lot's of R & R on the beach. We are a family of 5 adults & have stayed at all of the Oxley properies over the last 7 years. We love all of them & have never been disappointed. We keep coming back & will continue to do so. Betty & Peter Oxley are very gracious & amiable hosts. You will not be disappointed. Great property for a relaxing vacation!

Great time! Peter was great and a wealth of information about the island. Property was clean and inviting! The beach was beautiful and it was nice to have kayaks and a paddle board. Very convenient to have a car available as well. We will be back!

Remote experience, right on the beach

We spent 6 nights with our two kids (6 and 3) and it worked out wonderfully. Peter was such a gracious host, very helpful with each question we had. The beach is literally steps away and there were never more than a handful of people around. This unit is the back unit on the ground floor. It is definitely two rooms, not two bedroom, in that the main room doubles as a kitchen / living room / bedroom. As a result it was cozy for 4 people in beds plus one in a crib. The small grocery store is within walking distance but that is truly all that is close, there are no restaurants nearby. It was perfect for us and offered exactly the experience we were looking for but definitely know what to expect. Overall, this was a great place for a family with kids and we would definitely consider returning in the future.

Fabulous location and gracious hosts. Hands down, the most beautiful blue water you will ever see!

Our trip was perfect, primarily because of the FANTASTIC location of this house. It is situated on the stunning Exuma blue/turquoise waters of Hoopers Bay. We visited during mid February when it can be windy on Exuma, though still warm and sunny ( High 70's to 80 F for our entire week), but since we were bringing our 3 year old we wanted to avoid large waves so we could play in the water as a family. Hoopers Bay turned out to be the perfect refuge, and we played in the water without fear of being knocked over while trying to teach our son to enjoy swimming. We also took turns snorkeling just a small walk down the beach to try to swim with the green turtles who make the calm waters of the bay their home. Though we saw them everyday, it wasn't until our final day that we were able to actually get a chance to swim among them. We were in the water with them for over an hour, and they let us interact by swimming near us, and coming to inspect us up close. They actually seemed to want to play! Without this location we would have never been able to have this experience. It took quite a few tries and it would not have been practical to keep returning to this spot in hopes of catching them. Also, the cottage was literally just steps to the beach, and waking up and having to just put on a swimsuit to go sit on the beach without having to pack everything and the kitchen sink was bliss. You know what I'm talking about if you have ever traveled with a toddler. The cottage itself was comfortable and clean. It had everything you would need for a short stay. It had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, an efficiency kitchen and a small supply of kitchen essentials. This too was so helpful. We were able to keep our sons breakfast/lunch and nap routine because we didn't have to go in search of a restaurant for every meal. We brought a few non perishable items from home in the way of snacks and basics because the prices on the island are so high. We supplemented with things purchased at the local markets. We ate over half our meals at the cute and private outdoor dining area attached to our little cottage. Betty and Peter had everything perfectly organized and were amazing hosts. Their responses to all inquiries were prompt and very helpful. Peter was charming and a wonderful wealth of info for the island, as well as just a nice guy. We also rented their car for the week, which I recommend to be able to see the rest of the beautiful island. Already looking at next year!!

Fantastic Experience!!

My wife and I flew into Exuma International Airport on 1/14/17, and were greeted by a taxi driver that Peter and Betty had arranged to take us to the property ($22 plus tip). When we arrived at the house, Peter was there to greet us, and did a fantastic job of showing us around the property. He is a rather witty and charming fellow, and perhaps one of the best hosts you will ever find. Peter also drove us around town and showed us where to shop and eat, and offered us a vehicle to drive while we were on the island ($60 per day, and you only pay for the days you need the car). Although Smitty's is within walking distance, I recommend you take the vehicle and venture out. Shirley's Fish Fry is great, and the Chat n Chill on Stocking Island is a MUST! Peter even assisted us with our boat trip reservations, and was very knowledgeable about "must-see" activities. On a side note, Coastline Adventures was a fantastic experience if you are looking for a boating trip! We stayed in the 2 bedroom downstairs apartment which suited our needs perfectly, and where delighted to find the beach only a minute walk (15 sec run) from the apartment. This is a fairly secluded, very clean beach, and we were frequently the only people enjoying its beauty. We made great use of the Kayaks, and saw tons of Sea Turtles on our adventures. Peter was very active, and came by frequently to check on us and made sure we didn't need anything. When our week of fun ended, Peter and Betty arranged to have a taxi waiting for us for our return to the airport, and he was there again to see us off. I really don't have anything negative to say here, it was a great place to enjoy the Island life! Thank You Peter!

Awesome owners!

While we have not even ARRIVED yet, I just want it to be known...the owners, Betty and Peter, have been AWESOME! I had a unique situation, where I was booking for someone else at the last minute! They went over and above, in responding to ALL concerns and requests! They kindly answered questions about the area, transportation, money, cell phones...they are incredible! Soggiorno perfetto

Abbiamo soggiornato al Sandy Palms per 10 giorni. La casa è direttamente sulla fantastica spiaggia di Hoopers Bay. L'appartamento è confortevole e dotato di tutto quanto potesse servire. I proprietari sono persone veramente fantastiche, ci hanno aiutato moltissimo sia per quanto riguarda le escursioni sia dandoci consigli per visitare l'isola nel migliore dei modi. La spiaggia davanti alla casa è bellissima e capita spesso di fare il bagno in compagnia di bellissime tartarughe. I proprietari mettono a disposizione lettini, kayak e giochi per bambini. Consiglio a chiunque di soggiornare al Sandy Palms. Penso che Betty e Peter (i proprietari) siano il vero valore aggiunto, non ho mai trovato persone così disponibili ed interessate a far si che i loro clienti trascorressero una vacanza indimenticabile.

joli petit appartement sur la plus belle plage...

Appartement au paradis.... Plage déserte, et appartement très bien équipé pour une famille avec 3 enfants. Terrasse aménagée, climatisation dans les chambres, cuisine bien agencée bref tout pour passer des vacances idylliques. Bien entendu grâce à Peter, un hôte toujours de bon conseil et disponible pour toutes nos questions! La localisation est très très tranquille, il y a un magasin à quelques pas, un endroit parfait pour se reposer. Voiture indispensable et mise en location par le propriétaire, Peter Oxley, bref, un endroit extraordinaire, on n' attend plus que d'y retourner!!!!

Beautiful Spot on the Beach

My husband and I traveled from Houston to Miami to Exuma. First time to the Bahamas but we wanted a calmer vacation than going to Nassau or Paradise Island. We made the perfect choice. We arrived to the airport and were picked by a friendly taxi driver and taken straight to Sandy Palms. Upon first view of the house I was very happy. It was just as pictured online and the beach is better than pictured. Peter met us and told us all sorts of very helpful info with a map. The island is small and everyone is very friendly. It was extremely easy to navigate coming from Houston where things are crazy to say the lease. Driving Peters car was interesting being we are from the USA and drive on the other side of the car and road. The car was definitely needed so I would plan on booking that for your stay. We really enjoyed the house and the amenities we had. Having a kitchen and going to the grocery store are ideal when you are staying somewhere for a long period. The house was calm and peaceful as well as the beach area. The beach is so calm and barely any waves which was nice. You can get in wade around and relax or use the kayaks they have which we did. Bellissimo!!!

Una location bellissima, chiunque vorrebbe avere una casa così sulla spiaggia, la consiglio a chi voglia trascorrere qualche giorno o qualche settimana vicino al mare in tutta tranquillità e con tutti i comfort di casa propria. Nice place to stay on a secluded beach!

We found Sandy Palms on the internet and after reading a few reviews booked our ten day stay. After a grueling day of travel we were met by the owner, Peter, at the house. We were a bit nervous at this point, hoping that we made a good choice but Peter immediately put us at ease with his friendly, welcoming demeanor. After a look at Hooper's Bay in the back yard of the property, we checked out the suite and Peter offered to drive us to a local restaurant for dinner. The rest of the vacation was a blur of sunshine and quiet days on a nearly empty and practically private beach. Reef fishing and Spearfishing was a blast. We also made an effort to drive up to Exuma Point for their buffet and a visit with their pigs. I would also recommend a visit to Stocking Island for the Chat and Chill experience. Peter made every effort to ensure we were having a good time and had plenty of suggestions for activities. I can't recommend dealing with him enough. The property is well maintained and clean. The amenities are humble, yet effective (we stayed in the two room suite). The stove and refrigerator are small and team cooking involves a bit of elbow rubbing, but we managed to whip up some great meals, especially the snapper we caught on our fishing charter with Robert's Island Adventures. If you are so motivated, there is a grocery, liquor and butcher store all located within walking distance, less than ten minutes each way. A car is not absolutely necessary unless you want to go to the northern part of the island. A taxi to Georgetown should only be around ten bucks. If you really want to save, you could even hitch. The locals we met were all very friendly, this is a small island. You will notice that every third guy is named Elvis Rolle, which is pretty awesome. Bring some extra trash bags, there are only a few provided and they are spendy at the store. You'll want to keep the trash out in this climate. Bring more sunscreen than you'll think you will need, too. You can practically burst in to flames in the summer sun. If you are looking at doing a movie night, bring DVD's or downloaded movies as the Internet on the island is pretty unreliable. Be prepared to take everything at a slow pace, you will learn the meaning of Island Time when you order food and deal with people! Have fun.

Only 10 minutes from the international airport and 6 minutes from George Town, the convenient location of Sandy Palms is quiet and peaceful whilst a variety of local shops are only a 5 minute easy walk away.
Approached on its own tree lined driveway and hidden from the Queens Highway Sandy Palms is positioned along the centre of the 1/2 mile curving sweep of Hoopers Bay.

What makes this property unique

Hoopers Bay Beach is protected from the prevailing winds and so is always calm and the sea safe for all ages.
Just a few steps from the apartment, the beach is a 1/2 mile (1 kilometer) strand of soft white sand and on the beach we have tables and chairs and loungers for our guests and for the more active we also have kayaks to explore more of the bay & enjoy meeting the resident Green Turtles.
