About this property
Placid View Mountaintop Home
About this space
Start your next adventure and step into Placid View - a Scenic Solitude, our picturesque, cozy 3-bedroom home, nestled at the top of the Great Smoky Mountains. You’ll be greeted with 360 degree, panoramic views of the mountains, golf course, and the Nantahala National Forest!
Our carefully designed mountain retreat is the quintessential outdoor getaway, central to many of the adventures found under North Carolina’s expansive skies. Perfect for family fun, couples’ retreats, visits to the Great Smoky National Park (less than an hour away), to the quaint town of Highlands (45 minutes away), or the hustle and bustle of Asheville (80 minutes to the majestic Biltmore Estate). You can also stay local in the historic town of Franklin and find a wide array of activities such as hiking, biking, gem mining, antiquing, exploring waterfalls, and trekking to Wayah Bald.
Located on an acre at the top of a gorgeous mountain, you’ll have plenty of space for sprawling out and enjoying the fresh mountain air in privacy. Get ready to take in clear night skies full of brilliant constellations from the back deck— whether it’s a cold winter night or a fresh summer evening.
Placid View, a Scenic Solitude is fully equipped to be your home-away-from-home. The kitchen is furnished with stainless steel appliances and of course, all you need for coffee each morning! Enjoy your meals
together around the kitchen table or take it to the back observation deck for an epic barbecue. You can also enjoy your morning coffee on the outside porch as the sun rises. Bedrooms include a master suite
with a king bed on the main level, and two bedrooms, one king and one queen (for a total of three) on the lower level. With two full bathrooms and one half-bath, there is plenty of space for everyone to
keep up with daily routines before hitting the Great Smoky Mountains or taking a trip into Asheville or the Highlands.
After hiking through the Appalachian Trail or visiting Franklin, decamp to the living room for a movie night. This comfy space includes a flatscreen TV with cable and streaming access to HBO & Hulu. There is also a TV in the master bedroom and another on the lower level. Or pour some
hot cocoa and gather around the living room’s gas fireplace, looking out the windows at the expansive landscape. It’s especially idyllic in the autumn when the rolling hills and bouldering peaks unfurl their
leaves of reds, yellows, and fiery oranges. There's nothing better than wrapping up in your favorite fall clothes and setting out on a leaf-looking adventure. While Placid View feels just the right amount of secluded, you’re still only 6 miles away from historic downtown Main Street. You’re close to many outdoor adventures like fishing, rafting, horseback riding, and golfing. While you’re here, be sure to check out some fantastic hiking trails, including Rufus Morgan, Tellico Gap, Big Laurel Falls, Pickens Nose, and more. The car ride to the Highlands through the windy mountains is a must-do. Along the way, stop at Dry Falls, which gives you the rare treat of walking safely behind a waterfall.
Thanks for looking, and we hope to see you at Placid View a Scenic Solitude soon.
