Incredible Views, Large Deck, Wood Burning Fireplace! Havland Lake 3bed/3bath
Imagine sitting on the large deck with friends basking in the sun! The kids (or guys) are down playing darts and ping pong while you enjoy peace. You all have your own bathroom so no arguing there!!!! There is a nice wood burning fireplace with ample wood stacked and dry. You look down the private driveway that you haven't seen anyone come up because there are only 4 houses in the neighborhood. You feel as if you are in the middle of nowhere yet you are 10 minutes from the Purgatory mountain, 5 minutes from a small grocery store at Needles and great pizza!, 10 minutes the other way to a large grocery store and Durango hot springs which is a MUST on your stay, and 2 minutes from access to the Glacier Club workout facility, 3 restaurants, steam bath, dry sauna, heated pools and hot tubs - golf, pickle ball, and tennis is seasonal. These amenities are only accessed through our membership there and there is a $10 fee per person daily or a $50 weekly charge - but it is waaaay worth it! Downtown Durango is 20 minutes south.
Pick up the train in Rockwood and avoid the chaos of getting on downtown. The Rockwood train station is 5 minutes away! Trust me on this!!!!! Rockwood access is the way to go and only available by putting it in your notes when buying tickets online or buying by phone. You will thank me at the end of a beautiful day and you are getting off the train while hundreds of others are worn out at this point wishin they were getting off with you!
3 bedrooms and 3 full baths and an extra shower in garage to wash that puppy if you choose.
Upstairs has 2 bedrooms both with attached bathrooms (one king bed and one queen bed) Downstairs has one bedroom off of living room- full bathroom is across. It has just been update November of 2023 so new furniture, paint and beds! We get comments all the time regarding how wonderful the mattresses are!
Haviland lake is across the street and our favorite days in the spring, summer, and fall are spent there. No motors are allowed and you can use our inflatable kayaks to float, swim, trout fish, hammock, fire pit with smores and hot dogs, hike, rest, etc... It is to us one of the most peaceful places on earth and it is 1 minute away!
We have been enjoying this area for 30 years and know how to help you have the prefect vacation there.
Enjoy!

Very cozy cabin. Mountains all around us and we enjoyed seeing the wild turkeys that ventured out every morning! The proximity to Purgatory Ski Resort was wonderful. And, being approximately 20 miles from downtown Durango was an added bonus. The owner was very helpful with any questions we had!I would highly recommend staying here for your next Colorado adventure!
We enjoyed a wonderful time at the cabin. The location is ideal, close to hiking trails, lakes and the Purgatory Ski Resort. We really enjoyed the views and the quietness. The only downside was the lack of snow when we stayed, but something no one could have predicted. The nearby trails and hot springs offered a wonderful compromise that our teen enjoyed as well.
Our family of 4 stayed at Dean's sweet cabin for a whole month and really enjoyed our time there. It's a comfortable house on a a quiet dirt road, very close to Purgatory ski hill (very convenient for us since our kids were in ski school and we spent a lot of time there.) Being able to bring our dog along on our extended trip to Durango was a huge bonus so we appreciated that this rental is dog friendly. We had some minor inconveniences during our stay (mostly weather-related) but Dean was always super responsive and helpful any time something came up. He gets an A for communication. We loved hiking the Haviland Lake trails right across the highway, eating pizza at Schoolhouse after skiing all day, and the Durango Hot Springs as a treat once (it's pricey, but worth going once). Durango is such a wonderful town–we will be back for sure! Thanks, Dean.

Beautiful mountain home in a great location! We spent a fabulous weekend with friends hiking, cooking and hanging by the fire as several storms came through. The colors were spectacular and the house was fully stocked. Dean was incredibly helpful and responsive. Will definitely be back!

This place was homey. The bed was so comfy! The mattress was the most comfortable I have slept on. the furniture in the living room was cozy. Not stiff and cheap like so many places are providing. It was clean. The communication was great too. We loved everything about this place!

We fell in love with Durango area over 30 years ago and just love sharing our place with such good people.
Easy access to everything in the area, but feels remote and private! Lovely views, comfy and cozy- and the host was the most friendly and helpful I’ve ever dealt with- we’ll be back!
This cabin was clean, well furnished and just a short drive to Durango and the hot springs spa. Very quiet area and the fall foliage was stunning. We grilled several times and enjoyed sitting on the deck by the fire pit.

We stayed at this cozy cabin the week before Christmas, and enjoyed every minute of it. The home was perfect: spacious enough for the family while still maintaining that cozy factor. Everything was exactly as listed. The host was wonderful and quick with communication. All in all we have already discussed another visit; this cabin would be wonderful to stay In at any time of year.

Thank you so much Lauren! We feel the same way about our cabin. Every time I come I walk around the lawn and just can't believe we have it!! It is so wonderful to be able to have a place where so many awesome people come to stay and get the same experience. Hope you come back!!
Great space in a very small neighborhood of only four other homes with good space allowances for each. We awoke daily to turkeys and other wildlife in the front yard, and had great mornings/evenings eating and relaxing on the deck.
It is across the street from Haviland lake access and was a great base for heading up to even higher alpine access or down the hill into town. Very responsive and caring owners helped to complete what was a great extended stay.
Our stay was amazing. The views are out of a fairytale book. 💯% recommend. Close to town, but far enough to enjoy the private getaway. Close to other attractions we did so location was great. We are already planning for next year to return. Our was great and always making sure we had what we needed.

We had a great time at this cabin. Everything was clean and cozy. Very easy to get to. Wish there were a few more games/activities for kids but we knew there wasn't ahead of time so we brought our own. Would definitely come back another time of year!

Rachel is absolutely correct, we should have more games and are bringing them up when we come in January.
Thanks so much Rachel and hope to see you again!
Our family had a wonderful vacation in this cozy cabin. The cabin is completely surrounded by beautiful Colorado mountains. We had snowball fights during the day and made smores by the fireplace at night. It really feels like a home away from home. Located close to the ski resort and Durango it’s the perfect location. The host is very accommodating and made sure my stay was going well. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a private getaway with beautiful scenery!!
We had a wonderful stay at this property. Our goal was to do a campus visit of Fort Lewis and then ski Silverton and Purgatory. This cabin was in a great location to do all three. House was super clean and the updates they have done are wonderful. We found the wood burning fireplace great to settle into a night. Also, gas fireplace on the deck was delightful to take in the views. Great communication with owner. Thank you again.

Come back again!!!!
This home was perfect for us! We wanted to see snow, be close enough to town to get supplies and have privacy… this home met each desire! The beds were very comfortable! There was Plenty of space for our grandchildren to run and play! They made snowmen and played in the snow. Then each evening we built a fire and watched tv together. The owner was quick to respond each time I messaged them and answered my questions. No complaints from my crew! We loved out time here!

Thanks soooooo much Martha! Hope y'all come back soon!
My family and I had an amazing time during our stay! From the moment we arrived, we were in awe of the breathtaking views that surrounded us. The privacy made it the perfect getaway, with the added bonus of daily visits from wild turkeys and the sound of elk bugling each morning. The Fall foliage in the area was at a peak during our stay, making our walks along the quiet country road leading to the property and surrounding area a real treat.
The home itself was exceptionally well-maintained. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking meals. We especially appreciated Dean, the owner, who was extremely responsive and helpful during our stay, making sure we had everything we needed.
The proximity to Havland Lake, Purgatory Resort, and easy access to both Silverton and Durango made exploring the area a breeze. Whether you're looking for adventure or simply a quiet retreat, this place has it all. We’re already planning our return to southern Colorado and look forward to staying here again!

Our family has made Durango our second home for the last 30 years. We are Texans that have come to love the scenery, the laid back attitude, and the seasons we get to enjoy here.
The skiing is of course great but summer and fall colors along with the incredible temperatures will set your mind at ease and away from the stress of work.
We own a winery and brewery north of Houston and just love to do things that help others enjoy, and this cabin will certainly do that for you. Come stay with us and take in the beauty!

Why they chose this property
There is not a direction you look using this home that doesn't offer incredible views of the signature mountains of this region. Needles, Potato Mountain, Missionary Ridge, Engineer Mountain, Hermosa Cliffs all can be seen from the patio, the living room, the kitchen window, for heavens sake even from the bathrooms!!!!
Sit on the porch and take it in, when the temps are right spend the day with the main doors wide open and enjoy the mountain air.
Haviland Lake is one of our very favorite places to spend lounging, fishing for trout (day license required from Needles store just down the road), kayaking in our inflated kayaks which you can use, swimming, snow shoeing in winter, hiking, roasting marshmellows and hot dogs.... and just enjoying the views on this mountain lake that does not allow engines so you can't even imagine how peaceful it is - AND - it is directly across the road from us!!!
Our neighborhood has 4 houses in it and we are the 3rd. They are all 3 plus acres so your stay will not be filled with seeing cars, it will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere yet having great access to the best that this area has to offer.
Come see us!
What makes this property unique
