Large bathrooms and bedrooms, luxurious knotty pine living and dining rooms, with our spacious kitchen, hand-made shelves and stainless appliances will greet you. Our wraparound deck invites you to stay outdoors and rest. The Nest was designed to be pet-friendly! Come give us a try. You will want to return ASAP.

The Sparrow’s Nest was perfect in every way. The area was peaceful and quiet which provided the perfect getaway. You are also close to the interstate for easy access to downtown Charleston and any surrounding areas. The hosts demonstrate hospitality in everything that they do. They have put so much thought and effort into the rental-from dog bowls for our furry friends, an assortment of coffees and teas, toiletries, games, and even bird seed to load up the bird feeder and enjoy the assortment of birds at the front porch. The rental is beautifully decorated and comfortable. We cannot thank them enough for a wonderful stay! We will definitely be back when visiting Charleston.

Sparrows Nest was everything that was promised in the listing and so much more! The hosts were communicative and have excellent attention to detail for anything guests could want or need. It was quite spacious for our party of 6. Our pups appreciated the treats and the small yard available to them. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely go back when in the area again!

They thought of everything. Staying here was so nice. Great kitchen setup with like new cooking ware. You will have everything you need to cook. Bathrooms neat, clean with plenty of fluffy towels. Bedrooms spacious with soft beds. Open concept living room eating area with comfy furniture. Nice deck and plenty of parking. We hope to come back!

We had such a great stay at Sparrow’s Nest! The home was more than just pet friendly. It was truly welcoming to our two doodles. There were dog bowls already set out, a large side yard for them to enjoy, doggie clean-up bags, and several other thoughtful surprises for our family.The house was very clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. You could tell the hosts put a lot of thought into the little details, which made the experience feel easy and welcoming from the moment we arrived.We would absolutely recommend Sparrow’s Nest, especially for families traveling with dogs, and would happily stay again!

We found this property to far exceed our expectations. It was well furnished and extremely clean. Everything you can imagine was supplied from K Cups to Q Tips. We were even met with special treats upon our arrival. We truly enjoyed watching the various birds and wildlife enjoying the bird feeder. We highly recommend this property. You will not be disappointed.

We stay at a LOT of VRBO properties. We own 2 VRBO properties. This large, clean, and well thought out place is perhaps one of the best we have stayed. We booked last minute and we had dogs. There was no problem, not only were dogs welcomed, but there were special features for dogs (treats, furniture covers, etc.). My wife loved the place so much she wished we could stay another day, just to chill out and relax in the house. I cannot recommend this place enough. The hosts were quick with replies and seemed to have thought of everything you would want in a rental.

Great stay and amazing rental! The host was perfect and even left us a treat. We loved all the little notes and helpful hints. Our dogs ended up staying home, but the house would have been great for them as well! Definitely recommend if you are visiting the Charleston area.

We are aware of the snow and ice on the parking lot during this terrible cold stretch we are in. As soon as we can it will be cleared. Our gas furnace is working fine as far as we know but it will be checked. Unaware of any privacy issues as there has never been a complaint before. Since we are on the dead end of the street, we would love to know what you mean so that we can address it. This is the first review ever that was less than 5 stars, so we certainly want to address any shortcomings whatsoever. Our guests can contact us at any time if they need anything at all, and we will continue to be available to our guests which we treasure. JD

JD Gandee grew up in Clendenin, about 18 miles away from the Sparrows Nest. After living in several different states, he came home with wife Karen. Karen Gandee spent most of her life in Southern Florida. The first time she visited Wild, Wonderful, West Virginia, she was in love (not only with her husband)! We have now lived in WV since 2012. It is our forever home. We built the Sparrows Nest near our home for two basic reasons: One is so that our children and their families, who live in MD, can come and visit the grandparents whenever they want to, and they have a wonderful, roomy, comfortable place to stay. Second is our desire to share the beautiful and amazing West Virginia with as many folks as possible. We are proud of our state. It truly is Almost Heaven.

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood is quiet. The Nest is at the end of the street, so there is no through traffic at all. The view is really great from the huge deck. There has been no crime reported on Credemont, the hill here, for anyone's remembrance. It's a great place to live, and a great place to come and relax. Relax around the fire pit (we supply the wood and kindling), and roast a hot dog or make some S'mores. Bring your dog and take a leisurely walk or have a game of fetch in our large yard (the only true flat plat on the entire hill).

What makes this property unique

There are several reasons to stay at the Sparrows Nest. First, you have great hosts who have never hosted before, but are very eager to please! We have custom built this beautiful home with you in mind. The rooms are spacious, not cramped. The towels, bedding, and toilet paper are soft. You will dig your toes into the amazing bathroom rugs. I (JD) built much of the Sparrows Nest with my own two hands, and Karen did all of the designing from paint colors to rugs, dishes, and placement of furniture. You will feel this when you recline in the leather sofa, throw a blanket over you, and doze off to the huge Smart TV. You will see the sun stream through the trees and into each room. Sunrises and Sunsets are equally striking on opposite hillsides. Relax, rest, and recharge. The nest is a wonderful place to roost. Welcome.
