Hines Point Getaway
We had a terrific 2 weeks at Holly Barn. Location — quiet and effectively isolated but a 1 mile walk to downtown Vineyard Haven —couldn’t have been better. Private beachfront was sweet. We kayaked and paddle-boarded in Lagoon Pond. Definitely rustic with a camp feel — perfect for our kind of vacation. Michael was very responsive and helpful. Definitely a place to return to.
Great, especially the location, a stone throw away from the lagoon and near downtown. We loved sitting out and watching the sunset.
Rustic Idyll in Hines Point
The property is very comfortable and charming, the owner was very accurate in the profile and his personal comments, view of the Lagoon is outstanding, a very restful place to stay with easy access to Vineyard Haven. Would definitely return.
Thank you. We'll look forward to hosting you next summer.
Outstanding home, location and owner
The home is a perfect get-away on MV. The owner gave us tons of information and recommendations. A very rustic and original style home, great view of the Vineyard Pond. Excellent clamming right below the cottage. Upstairs loft not suitable for children.
Very well stocked cottage. Sitting outside in the late afternoon was out favorite activity.
Add to Michael's recommendations: The Organic Farm on Edgerton Road. Easy biking to many of the island's attractions, Martha's Bikes delivers and picks up bike rentals, get the extra padded seat. We took the bus from Boston-Logan, then the Ferry, then a Hertz rental car right at the Ferry dock. Near impossible to get a car reservation on the Ferry. Don't miss the Marine Lab at Wood's Hole and the excellent bike path from the ferry into Falmouth. Take an island tour the first day there, hits all of the villages and you get an excellent history overview and see places that you may want to drive/bike to. Parking in most of the downtowns is very difficult, the bikes work great for touring.
We will return.
We should have stayed for 2 weeks!
This rental delivers exactly what it states. It's very clean and comfortable cottage on a picturesque setting on the water. Really really relaxing and quiet cove you can paddle or swim on. We paddled over to several small coves and Sandy P oints for picnics and fishing, the stripers had moved out into cooler water, but my 11 yr old was happy to catch crabs and minnows the beach. No AC but that wasn't a problem, the evening temp and breeze made it great for sleeping. We found it easy to drive or bike into Vinyard Haven, or drop down to Edgardtown or south beach. If you rent this cottage, you will probably notice how quiet the point is, and how little traffic comes up the road. You can bbq on the charcoal grill, or get to several restuarants in VH in 5 minutes even if traffic is busy. Overall, we loved staying here and plan to go back next year.
This is a fantastic 'Old Style Vineyard' cottage in a perfect Vineyard spot - right on the water. It is down a long quiet peninsula, and yet still near town.
We have stayed there in the summer and in the fall and loved both. The water is just at the end of their meadow and the view from the living room and yard is amazing. We especially enjoy watching the sunset and birds in the wind swept cedar trees. In the fall the wood stove makes it seem especially cozy. Michael could not be more helpful- he has thoroughly answered any questions we've had. If you want a restful, reinvigorating vacation right on the water this could well be your cottage.
Our cottage has a private beach on the Vineyard Haven Lagoon. It's safe for little children to splash and swim in the calm, warm waters and collect shells while adults relax on the beach.
