Chateau / Country House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)
About Jean Johnston
This beautiful area was the inspiration for my artist/sculptor husband. It also was the perfect place to rear our 3 children. My days almost always begin with a walk on our 2+ miles of uncrowded beach. Now that our children are grown I have time to pursue my passion, going to gem shows and creating jewelry from my unique finds.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
This home is set back from the highway and located on 3 acres surrounded by pasture land. Follow the paved driveway around to the back of the house and you will find a 1 car garage, a ramp to the back door for easy access and plenty of parking for your cars, boat or RV. You will also find a secluded yard with a BBQ and comfortable chairs for relaxing. Watch for deer, herds of elk and covies of quail. You can also enjoy a variety of colorful birds that come to the feeders. (Bird food provided.) In late August the blackberry vines are hanging with juicy berries. They make delicious cobblers. Bring jars if you like to make jam.

Great spot by the beach
We had a great time here! The house was very nice and clean. The great room was probably everyone's favorite spot and we all spent some time up there relaxing after hiking and walking along the beach. The house was just across the street from a beach with easy public access and we were able to cross the street with no issues. We were a short drive from hiking in the redwoods and areas with tide pools.
Awesome vacation spot!
Very spacious and unique
We loved that this property was very homey, unique and reflected the love of the owners. A little hard to get to the beach, but very quiet and private.
This house is a little older, but well maintained and very comfortable. I have special needs kids and the extra room available made the trip more comfortable for all of us. The kitchen had everything we needed. The upstairs room has a lovely view and was very comfortable. Even though it was located on Highway 101 it felt rural and I really enjoyed that. The beach is a very short walk and was a nice beach for the family to spend time on. Very much enjoyed this trip and this house
I would not rent this house again... spiders everywhere, dishes dirty, owner just walked in every day except the day we left. Many other issues as well.
Just a couple things. Musty smelling and corners could have been cleaned better.
Great size for our family.
Thank you for letting me know. I talked to my housekeeper and problem solved.
Memorial day 2019
Beautiful setting with big yard, great view, and easy beach access. This is an older house, very well kept, with no close neighbors. It has a nice sitting area upstairs with a great view. There were 10 of us and no one had any complaints. Just the privacy alone makes this a great place to stay
There are 2 casinos near. Crescent Elk Casino in Crescent City and Lucky 7 Casino just one mile south on Hwy 101. Available for your use, Smelt net, 4 crab rings, 3 clam shovels, 2 clam pumps, 3 rakes for taking steamer clams. Bring rods and reels to fish for perch. Dig sand crabs for bait. There is a trading library upstairs. Take a book, leave a book in it's place.
A drive to Stout Grove Redwoods and Florence Keller park are a must. Also visit, at low tide only, Battery Point Lighthouse/museum in Crescent City.
