This lovely ocean view home will welcome you and your family to the magnificent rock studded Northern Calif. coast & the Southern Oregon Coast known as the 'Banana Belt' for it's mild temperatures. This area has all that nature can offer. Whether you enjoy golfing, fishing the pristine Smith River, hiking the scenic trails of the Redwood Nat'l Park, finding treasures while walking or jogging the beach or just watching the magnificent sunsets over the ocean consider making this your next vacation destination.

Open the carved redwood door and you find yourself in a beautiful, well appointed home with stunning views of the ocean on one side and panoramic views of the mountains on the other. Conveniently located between Crescent City, Ca. and Brookings, Or. on Hwy. 101 this home offers 4 bedrooms, 2 baths plus a family/dining room with a fireplace and a Smart TV with DVD/VHS player, a well equipped kitchen & laundry room. The special feature of this house is the huge UPSTAIRS GREAT ROOM which overlooks the ocean. It is equipped with Starlink WiFi, a 55 inch screen Smart TV with and Blu Ray player, a game table with games & puzzles and a lending library. The perfect setting to socialize or just curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book and enjoy the ambiance of the owners art collection.

You can charter a fishing boat, play a round of golf at the Salmon Run or Del Norte Golf Course or just wander through the antique shops at your leisure, then amble on the boardwalk in Harbor, Oregon and enjoy the birds and boats. Come evening, venture out to one of the fine seafood restaurants the area has to offer or enjoy a bonfire on the beach & roast smores. Want a little more action? Try the Lucky 7 Casino just a mile down the road. After all, you are in the heart of America's Wild River Coast, so come enjoy yourself.

Redwoods and Pacific Ocean

We wanted a quiet place for the family to spread out, all while experiencing the Redwoods and seeing the Pacific Ocean. This place was exactly that!

Quintessential Coastal NorCal

This house is a very well preserved throwback to the late 70’s. Great location with views of the ocean and a nature area across the street. Super cute. Super comfy. It was perfect for our stay!

Multigenerational family reunion

It was a lovely, unique place with lots of space for all near the beach and redwoods. The grandkids loved the big room upstairs, the kids and spouses had their own room, and even grandma got to sleep in peace in her own room:)

Large home

The house was very dark when we pulled up in the evening. We told the property owner that the back bathroom was plugged. She said that there is a plunger in the closet. The toilet had poop backed up the entire time. That was gross. The house had a very bad musty smell, it must have been closed up for a long time. The house had 4 bedrooms, so would be good for large families. Also, the house was very well stocked, impressive. There was a large family room upstairs with a partial view of the ocean. We didn't really use that room, but it had a nice fireplace and lots of seating, again, great for a large family. I personally would not stay there again, but a large family looking for a no frills place to stay, it would be fine. Also, I am not plunging a toilet on my vacation, that's BS.

Great Vacation Home for friends and families.

Where do I start to say how much fun we had at your very comfortable home. We had 11 people and 1 dog and could not have been more pleased with our decision to stay there. First of all we had plenty of room. The adults used three of the four rooms and the kids all stayed in the great room up stairs. It was an easy walk to the beach across the road and down a great nature trail. We went down there every evening to play and to shoot off some fireworks early. We also enjoyed site seeing in Cresent City, Smith River, the beautiful redwoods and Brookings Oregon. Brookings was only about 7 miles up the coast so it was fun to be able to see some of Oregon. We even did some fishing on the ?Smith River, it was beautiful. The house was so well furnished and equipped that we really didnt need to use the extra items we brought. We were able to cook or BBQ great meals everyday. It is so peaceful in the back of the house, we spent time just visiting and having meals outside. We know were we will be staying on our next visit to this area, even the kids had a great time and want to go back. Thank you for your hospitality and for making our vacation so comfortable.

Really enjoyed the house and surroundings, Smith River swimming holes, beaches, redwoods. The great room was great for the early risers, sat outside to see the stars. Our group from 6 to 85 years could not scamper across Hwy 1 so had to drive to the nearby beach. The AC was not up to the heat wave but could cool off in evening breezes. Incredible enjoyable beauty all around.

Amazing stay

Amazing stay and awesome wood workong though out with it being a sculptures house. He carvedalot of the stuff there so it was nice checking them out. Beach is just a short jaunt across the 101 and down a small hill.There was a water leak in the yard and i was able to get ahold of the owner who sent someone out to fix it promptly. If we are ever down that way again we would definitely stay again.

Walk to beach

This older home had plenty of space and an absolutlely gorgeous yard for our family to enjoy. The blooming backyard was a magnet for the kids, and the large playroom upstairs was a hreat hideout for the teens.a daily walk to the beach to look for rocks and marinelife was a big hit.

Family Friendly

I really loved this home; it has a very 70's feel. The great room upstairs was exactly that "It was Great"! It had a beautiful view of the ocean through the large windows (when there's no overcast). Also, there were plenty of games for the kids to play and tv and internet worked awesome. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of dishes and cookware. Check in/Check out was easy. Communication with the host was very prompt. The reason I gave an overall 4 and a 3 for cleanliness, was that there were some bugs in the house, roly poly bugs(sow bugs), they are harmless, but it would have been nice to know that they could show up in the house while we were there. One traveled home with us, I found it in our blow-up mattress, that we used upstairs for one of our granddaughters. Also, the gas BBQ grill was not usable(very dirty, it looked like mouse droppings at the bottom of it inside the grill), which we were told there was a gas BBQ grill that we could use, so we planned one of our meals outside, we had to improvise indoors. A bit of a bummer, but since, I have been told by the host, this issue has been resolved. Other than that, it is very family friendly, if these issues were, in fact, resolved I would recommend.

Slice of the 70s

Adorable house, straight out of the 70s with the decor and build. Plenty of space before the next property so it was quite and private. Quick walk to the ocean, quick drive to town. On clear nights it was wonderful to just lay out a blanket and watch the stars.

Memorable

First, I must say that I fell ill and was unable to join my family. Jean's directions for locating the property were spot on, with family coming from Washington and Oregon having no problem locating it. Everyone was impressed with the ambiance of the house. It was beautifully arranged and well-stocked. They enjoyed the beach immensley and my great=grandson had an amazing time flying his kite. This get-together was to honor my eldest daughter's untimely passing. Thank you, Jean, for sharing your lovely home. I wish I could have been there.

My daughter finished her Bachelors degree! My sister and her husband, my daughter, son-in-law and 2 kids plus our dogs had a fun time! Great back yard and loved the upstairs space.

Pleasant stay

Our stay in Jean's house was a pleasant one. Jean is very accommodating. The home is quaint and comfortable. It was the perfect place for two families. We love all the memories that is within this home, made us want to cherish our family and time with each other more. We would definitely come back again.

Wonderful Quaint Getaway

This was a wonderful house for our large family to stay in while we visited the Brookings area. 4 bedroom, 2 bath with a bonus upstairs family room allowed each person space. The home is still proudly displaying the original decor, but is clean and quaint. Lots of amenities for the guests - high chair, easy access laundry, full pantry of cooking utensils and dishes for 12 or more, large fridge. We will stay again if given the chance!

Most days almost always begin with a walk on our 2+ miles of uncrowded beach.

Why they chose this property


First off it is in the country so no crowds of people. The great room is stocked with a game table, lots of games, puzzles, a Smart TV and a library. All of these are available while enjoying a magnificent ocean view. Sunsets over the ocean are a special treat. Need to get out of the house? Across the street is an uncrowded 2 miles of sandy beach. Great for walking or jogging. Hike the redwood trails. Take a self guided sight seeing tour up or down the coast or through the redwoods. There are lots of places to park and enjoy the view.
Try the local food establishments, they serve wonderful local and fresh foods. Need groceries? Safeway in Crescent City and Fred Meyer in Brookings, Oregon have pick up service, just place your order on line.

What makes this property unique

This home is set back from the highway and located on 3 acres surrounded by pasture land. Follow the paved driveway around to the back of the house and you will find a 1 car garage, a ramp to the back door for easy access and plenty of parking for your cars, boat or RV.
You will also find a secluded yard with a 2 BBQ's, propane or charcoal and comfortable chairs for relaxing.
Watch for deer, herds of elk and covies of quail. You can also enjoy a variety of colorful birds. In August the blackberry vines are hanging with juicy berries. They make delicious cobblers. Bring jars if you like to make jam.
