About the host

Host profile image
Hello my family originated from the Appalachian hills of Kentucky and Tennessee. My Mother and Father 87 decided they did not wish for my Father to spend years in dangerous unregulated 1950's and 60's East Kentucky coal mines.

After my Father completed his 4 year military service in Germany, he and my Mother left behind everyone and everything familiar to them and moved North into Michigan and eventually into the Miami Valley of Dayton Ohio.

My parents constantly hosted many of my parents combined 16 siblings helping each one out of a impoverished East Kentucky economy of the late 1950's and1960's. Hosting guest was very satisfying and exciting when guest would share their history and travel experiences.

I am a 1ST generation college graduate with 2 Masters Degrees who fell in love with the occupation of teaching disadvantaged Appalachian children like my parents once were.

I was recruited by the University of Kentucky in 1990 to teach disadvantaged college freshman who bravely enrolled into Allied Health programs despite the state of Kentucky failing to provide funding for Education and Science Labs in East Kentucky public schools.

With determination and long hours of hard work my East Kentucky students in spite of their substandard education became nurses, PTA, PT's, OT, Rad Techs, Dentist, Doctors, and most importantly Teachers such as Tracy Wells a outstanding HS Teacher.

Teachers in the United States, specifically in the South are paid a pitiful amount. I subsidized my occupational passion with investment properties otherwise I would have been forced by economic circumstances beyond my control to leave the teaching profession.

Thankfully, I learned from my parents, and My uncle & aunt, who owned vacation rentals in Florida how to buy, rehab, and flip houses growing up as a child. Over time I have accumulated spacious investment properties that my significant other is converting into beautiful customized vacation properties for our guest to enjoy.

Why they chose this property

Friendly neighborhood with extremely spacious Edwardian houses with historical ties to the community.

Easy access just off interstate I-70 Exit 54

3 miles from downtown Springfield and Wittenberg University established in 1845.

What makes this property unique

Antique home built in 1907-1908. One of the largest houses in the neighborhood commissioned by a wealthy family thought to have moved from England into the community with strong ties to Wittenberg University, just 3 miles from house.

This elegant Edwardian house with high ceilings giving a more spacious feel with wider and roomier architecture than its predecessor the Victorian house includes twice as many windows and a large bay window designed to allow light to stream into the 1ST floor of house, compared to the smaller more ornate darker interior of the Victoria houses.

A rare beauty indeed with the original unpainted woodwork throughout the entire house. The large warm welcoming foyer show casing wood designs of the time leads to a elegant staircase flowing upward to a landing with a large multicolored stained glass window.

The 1ST floor features 3 original 1907 Chandeliers comprised of hand designed glass hanging by solid brass chains. The gas fireplace is considered by many experts to be a true antiquity of the Edwardian houses with multi colored tiles surrounding a solid brass interior of the fireplace rarely seen today.

Walking into the foyer transcends guest into a breathtaking experience wiping a way for a brief moment more than a Century of time taking guest back to a simpler period when Teddy Roosevelt was president, our local born Wilbur Wright flew the longest flight, and American Engineers were building the Panama Canal.
