This property was perfect our girls trip. Walking distance to everything in Egg Harbor and minutes to many Door County attractions. We would definitely recommend.
Great spot in town! Was comfortable for our family. It’s an old house, but feels like grandma’s cottage. The only criticism is the beds are full-size not queen as listed. We really enjoyed staying here!
This was a great location to many points of interest. From eating, to walking, to enjoying the sunsets and market shopping! The home had amazing 'old' charm with decor to match! We would certainly book again with our hosts. (Sorry we did not take many photos)
VRBO Review Egg Harbor 2026Harbor HausFortunately, we four former college roommates in our 70s like old homes and things;Unfortunately, not as old as everything in this house.Fortunately, in this day and age the internet can help navigate a new environment;Unfortunately, the internet was not working most of the time.Fortunately, one of the owners came over promptly to help with the internet problem;Unfortunately, when we returned at the end of the day, it again wasn’t working for everyone for the rest of our stay. Fortunately, we all had cell phones, and other devices which do need to be recharged;Unfortunately, there were very few plugs, and most were behind furniture and/or in use.Fortunately, there was a coffeemaker available;Unfortunately, there wasn’t an available plug for it in the kitchen. We had to set it up in the dining room.We loved our stay in Door County, An updated version of this property would have made it even better.
The location surprised me. The pictures look like it is in the woods, but it is actually on the main road through town so we could walk everywhere. The convenience was amazing. All four bedrooms are upstairs along with a bathroom, so you really are sharing one bathroom which can get a bit cozy. The second bathroom is downstairs off the hallway and across from the kitchen. It is a half bath with a door, and then a shower stall has been added to a space beside it in the hallway under the stairs. You need to shut the hallway door and kitchen door so no one sees you in the shower. Each bedroom was large and had dressers and a closet for clothes so that was nice. Plugs are limited, so we did bring extension cords and that helped. The kitchen is small with very little counter space, so I think it would be hard to prep a large meal, but it does have dishwasher, stove/oven, and 2 fridges. The older microwave and coffee maker are on a side table. Since there is no way I’m cooking with all of the food options nearby, this really didn’t matter. The dining room has a large table with seating for at least 8. This is a beautiful old house with wooden floors and furnished with antiques that add character and charm. If you need a modern house with modern bathrooms then look elsewhere. However, we enjoyed it and will be back again.
The location was perfect, easy to come and go. The house is a old, charming and very spacious. The house could use updates to essentials like bathrooms, kitchen, beds, etc.
My friends and I enjoyed our stay in Egg Harbor. The house was well maintained and clean. It's in walking distance to shops and restaurants in Egg Harbor.
Could have used more towels. But other than that, we loved the house, location and price!! Everything was perfect!! Oh and bring power supplies and extension cords!!
We loved the house! having four bedrooms was perfect. The location, was right in the middle of a lot of shops, and wine tasting, and restaurants that we wanted to go to. House was very clean and the communication with the owners was great. We did bring extension cords as we had read in previous reviews there were not a lot of outlets very happy that we brought them!!. Can’t wait to stay here again!!
Spacious for our 3 generation family visit and close to everything in town. Older property which made it difficult to lock the front door keep and keep the bathroom doors shut for privacy. Internet didn't work most of the time, but we didn't stay there much so not a big deal.
Great location. House is well built as it muffles any street sounds. Floors creaked so everyone walking around inside was heard. Outlets did need to be updated as two of us had cpap machines which made it difficult to plug in. Same for toaster and coffee machine. Otherwise it felt like home. We enjoyed being all together.
The home is in an excellent location, walkable to many coffee shops, restaurants, shops and the harbor. Great views of the bay from the back of the house and we enjoyed having coffee on the porch watching the morning unfold on the sidewalk. All of the rooms are very large with plenty of space for our large group of 7 assaults to spread out.
Our stay was nice. If you are looking for a place to unplug and relax, this is your place. If you want amenities and modern luxuries not so much. This home is old, well kept and clean, but not modern in any way. Bring extension cords if you need power all over, there are minimal outlets in the bedrooms. The owners were in touch and available when needed! Right in the heart of Egg Harbor so a short walk to many places!
We liked it overall. It was interesting because it's an old house that hasn't been modernized a lot which made it unique. The location is great and we had a nice weekend. You need to bring some extension cords because it's hard to find an outlet. Our bedroom only had one on the light switch. The downstairs shower is interesting because it is outside of the bathroom in the hallway but you can still get some privacy - just have to tell people not to open the 2 hallway doors when you are showering.
My extended family enjoyed staying here. It's a charming old house and it's walking distance from lots of things. There is a good amount of yard space to the side for being outside.
The house was very clean. Check in and check out were super easy.
We would have appreciated having a few extra towels as there exactly enough for each guest and no extras...when traveling with teenage girls with long hair, it's sometimes nice to have an extra or two.
We also ran out of trash bags but made do. Also the downstairs bathroom set up is quirky, with the shower being separate from the bathroom and basically open to the back hallway.
Communication was super quick and responsive when we had questions.
Centrally located, ample parking, in a very clean, old house with an amazing view of the bay.
While the floors creaked with every movement, the woodwork and design has been well kept. The updated HVAC kept the house cool or warm as needed with the changes of the weather in the fall (warm during the day and windy/cool at night). While we read previous reviews, we came prepared with extra towels and extension cords. We did find extension cords in the bedrooms and towels were 1 bath and washcloth per person. Our only surprise were the showers - the main floor bath is a toilet and sink with the shower in the hallway/landing for the basement, needing to close 3 doors for privacy (a door to the main hallway and front door, the door to the back porch, and a kitchen door - all of which stuck or didn’t close properly). There was no place to hang wet towels nor set clothes in the bathroom areas, especially downstairs. The shower heads are low in both but the hot water was perfect. Blinds on every window were working. Plenty of seating in the living and dining room. Many kitchen and cookware options with 2 refrigerators and freezer above each. We brought our own cards/games but did find a puzzle. We didn’t watch tv but 1 small tv in the living room with many channels and the Wi-Fi worked throughout the house. We enjoyed the chairs on the front step though would be nice for access to more outside chairs. Definitely not a modernized house but we enjoyed the quirks and beauty! Perfect for our 6. Even 8-9 but up to 12 would be a tight fit.
I was born and raised in Egg Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin. I went to grade school in Egg Harbor (the current location of the Egg Harbor Fire Dept.) and attended junior high and high school at Gibraltar H.S. in Fish Creek, 5 minutes north of Egg Harbor. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and have been involved in a family business my entire life--the Alpine Resort and Golf Course in Egg Harbor. We sold the business after 100 years to a new owner. We continue to rent our eight vacation houses in Egg Harbor seasonally. I have two adult sons and I live in Sturgeon Bay, about 20 minutes south of Egg Harbor. Door County has been a great place to grow up and live and I'm blessed to have the opportunity to remain here on this beautiful peninsula. I love to swim and boat and fish in the summer. And I enjoy skiing and ice fishing in the winter.
Why they chose this property
This house has been in our family from the beginning. It's close to all the great things Egg Harbor (and Door County) has to offer. It's only available for vacations in the spring, summer and fall. My family is very protective of this house and keep it clean and well maintained.
What makes this property unique
This property holds some of the charming history in Egg Harbor, it's located on top of the bluff that overlooks the harbor, and is easy walking distance to the local businesses, restaurants and art galleries in the village. And it's just a short walk to the Egg Harbor beach. The bay is beautiful for swimming in the summer and early fall. The house has a nice lawn area and outdoor patio.
