About this property

Ten/ twenty minutes to Lake Placid, Whiteface Mnt. Saranac Lake!

The Adirondack Shangri-La is the perfect 'cabin in the woods' experience. Breathe in the silence—detox between activities in a wood-fired Sauna, a cleaner bath than a shower, or the seasonal outdoor shower. Re-align to your natural state of awareness. Continue your old-fashioned Adirondack experience by sitting around the campfire or sharing a meal at the picnic table. Save the Earth and use a privy! That's right; there is no indoor toilet. The cabin has electricity and jugs of water for cooking & dishes but no running water. There is a sink to dispense of dishwater or to brush your teeth. Coming in May, an outdoor, heated shower. Most phones have cell phone service, but there is no internet. Fill your extra hours with cards, games, books, and conversation. While this location feels remote, it's just 10 minutes away from skiing, hiking, swimming, shopping, and restaurants. No smoking inside the cabin. Be sure all fires are extinguished before retiring.
I love animals; however, they are not allowed. There are no exceptions, not even for those who want to keep their animal in the car during their stay, and absolutely no illegal immigrants or "New Commers" allowed.

Perfect Oasis!
My husband and I had the perfect weekend getaway at Kelly's beautiful lil cabin! It was clean and furnished with all the amenities we needed. The compost toilet was one of the cleanest I have ever seen and with beautiful decor and inspiring quotes. The location was perfect to get to hikes and sites we wanted to see and in the evening we came back to have a nice fire with warm showers in the morning :) Kelly was great with communication and we are eager to return again! Thank you so much

Overnight before hiking
First night on hiking trip. It was great! It was a rainy night. The cabin is so cute, and really clean. Kelly made an effort to talk to us making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Very eco friendly and peaceful! For sure coming back if we’re in the area!!

This place was the most peaceful and tranquil place we have ever stayed in our life. We were worry free and relaxed our whole stay. The place was clean, warm, and extremely comfortable. The nature surrounding it was perfection, from the many animals and unique birds you hear, the creek right along side the place, surrounding pines, the wooden swing, camp fire, chairs, front porch, and relaxing back porch facing the woods, to the interior decor. It was absolutely perfect and we can't wait to stay again!

Adorable, cute, & whimsically furnished. Bed was comfortable for 2, and place was clean. There is plenty of room to park, outhouse was clean and well lit b/c of the clear plastic roof. Area around property was cared for, for the most part. Behind the property could be a lovely view to the creek, but that area is used to dump some tree cuttings. Not a big deal. The listing includes a spa/hot tub. There is no spa/bathtub or hot tub. There is an outdoor, wood fired, sauna! How fun- we were looking forward to using it! It is padlocked so only owner can fire it up. Owner asks for 1.5 hours notice to get it toasty. I texted with ample time to use the sauna, and got no reply. When we arrived, a note informed us that there was a crack in the window glass of the sauna that happened "yesterday" so the sauna was unusable. Owner added that they require a 24 hour notice to light the sauna anyway, so my 2-hour lead time was insufficient anyway. Listing includes a "gym" which I think was the yoga mat rolled up in the corner. There was just enough room for one person to use the mat for indoor stretching. The drive is gravel/stone which is fine, but if you are staying when there is snow or rain, drive a vehicle with clearance; the snow was not plowed from the driveway which had deep ruts. The "queen" bed was 6 or 7 inches narrower than my own queen bed at home. Overall a peaceful, tranquil stay in a pleasant wooded area. Outdoor firepit and games for fun!

I built my log cabin 40 years ago while living in a tent with three kids under five! That adventure would make a great book! Then, I built the cabin you will be staying in from an old house I dismantled and re-created. I enjoy gardening, painting, cross-country skiing, swimming, and cycling.

Why they chose this property

Our cabin sits on a 15-acre parcel surrounded by state land. You'd be You'd be pressed to find a more peaceful environment. Early in the morning, you can see any number of animals drinking from the brook just outside the window. I watched twin baby Dear leaping off the bank into the water repeatedly as its mom stood watching. For three mornings in a row, I watched a bear bathing in the creek as it just emerged from its winter den. Every year a moose occasionally wanders through. Enjoy a starry night by the fire or stay in. Either way, this environment adds to an enjoyable romantic experience.

What makes this property unique

I've hand-crafted the entire place, so everything is unique, clean, and comfortable. While it feels remote, it's only minutes from everything Saranac and Lake Placid have to offer. Enjoy boating, swimming, hiking, skiing, art, farmers markets—you name it—it's here.
