More about the cabin: The cabin was originally built in 1902 just down the road. We tore it down and moved it to our property and completely restored it. There is a loft with a queen bed, a living room with a full futon, full bath and full kitchen. It can sleep up to four people, but note that it includes 1 queen bed and 1 pull out futon in the living room.

Very easy to find and close to Itasca, yet secluded. It is a beautiful, cozy little cabin tucked in the pines just across from the North entrance to Itasca.
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin very much. The location is perfect for easy access to Itasca state park. The cabin is cute, clean, quiet, and quaint. Highly recommend!
Christine was very easy to communicate with and accommodating throughout the trip when an issue out of their control popped up. The cabin was clean and comfortable and my wife and I had a great time staying there. Definitely a place we will be visiting again.
Cabin 1902 was so cozy and comfortable for our Christmas weekend. It was quiet and so relaxing. Christine is a wonderful host and has such a lovely cabin to relax and take in all of nature near Itaska Park. Thank you so much and we would love to stay again! Dave and Paula
What a wonderful property! You can tell a lot of love went into this cabin, and they should be proud of how their vision of it turned out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Lake Itasca state park is one of our favorites, and this was so close for easy visits. Nice quiet area and very cozy & comfortable. Just a short walk to the gift shop for ice cream treats after dinner too. The 1902 cabin is great, quality place to stay that we can recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Cabin was located right up the road from the headwaters of the Mississippi. It was clean and inviting. host was great at communicating prior to our stay. Hope to be back!
We really enjoyed our time at Big Timbers! The 1902 cabin was so charming; rustic and historic structure with all the modern amenities you need! So well thought out for guests to make the stay easy and comfortable. The close proximity to Itasca State Park was what initially drew us to this location, but the charm of the cabin and the amazing service provided by the owners will
Bring us back again!
Definitely a must stay location if you're heading to Itasca State Park or just want some solitude in the wilderness.

Very cozy cabin, you really feel like you are out in the woods and nobody else is around, even though you are not the only ones there. We loved the time we spent in the cabin and will be returning again for sure. Only thing it was missing was a little air fryer to make some treats or reheat some leftovers.
Beautiful historic cabin set among the pines. Clean, comfortable, & quiet. Huge front porch which we utilized a lot. Water pressure good in the spacious bathroom. Beds & living room furniture were comfortable. Everything is provided that you need. We have stayed at many rental cabins & this is one of our absolute favorites. Will definitely be back!
We had a great 2 night stay and spent most of our time in the state park. This was the perfect location to stay for exploring the headwaters of the Mississippi.
There are not a ton of cooking items but enough to get by for a short time. If you are cooking meals and need something specific (crockpot, large pan, etc.), bring it with you or ask ahead of time.
We didn't have any wash clothes or hand towels but I am sure it was just an oversight and we managed just fine without!
The store on site is so cute and made the stay even better.

My husband and I really liked the property and location, especially for the easy access to Itasca State Park. The property owners are nearby and helpful with prompt communication and information about the area.
The stairs to the bed loft are a little tricky in the dark and you have to remember to duck your head in the bed loft. We left the bathroom light on at night for visiblity.
We loved our stay! Many plus points for us - the serenity, location, seclusion, charm. And Christine, our host, was warm and friendly and quick to respond to our questions. We spent our days exploring Itasca State Park and nearby towns like Bemidji, Walker and Park Rapids. So glad we didn't book just another chain hotel for this trip. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for!
Love the secluded feeling you get nestled in the pine trees, always a favorite place of ours. We love the rustic feel while still having modern conveniences. Our third time visiting, I am sure we will be back again.
My husband and I spent a weekend at the 1902 cabin to celebrate our 20th anniversary and we really enjoyed our time there. Christine was very friendly and quick to answer any of our questions. The keyless entry worked out wonderfully for us as we had arrived Friday evening and were able to go right in and not worry about physically checking in somewhere.
The cabin is exactly as described. It's cozy, nestled into the pines, and quite charming! As soon as we stepped out of our vehicle we were enveloped in the pines' aroma. The fact that the cabin is dog friendly made all the difference for us.
We loved how close the cabin is to the state park, as we spent our days hiking there and enjoying the fall colors. Although most of our meals were eaten out, had we wanted to prepare something, there were a variety of kitchen supplies available such as pots, pans, large bowls, knifes, pizza cutter, silverware, dishes, etc. Even Pam cooking spray! Since we were eating out, we appreciated the restaurant recommendations in the binder on the table. Knob and Kettle was delicious!
The bed in the loft was very comfortable to sleep in, although I did bring my pillows from home. The in-floor heating was soooo nice. We were plenty warm on the chilly fall evenings.
We hope to return to the cabin again but with our children next time, to share this little treasure with them!
