This stunning architectural achievement offers luxury, refinement and beauty. Views are sensational year round. Experience unobstructed Donner Lake views, tranquility and spaciousness. Ceilings are 25' high, constructed of solid wood beams and soaring with light from every window. Light passes from room to room through glass walls, an architectural design feature called 'borrowed light.' The beautiful, reclaimed hardwood and Sierra slate flooring are heated for your comfort. The practical kitchen is well equipped and offers stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. Throughout you will find comfortably furnished rooms with clean lined, quality pieces. The house provides easy access to the lake, directly across the street from public piers.
The upper level has three comfortable, private bedrooms plus a loft with two twin-sized futons. The primary bedroom has a spacious, adjoining bathroom with jetted tub, glass shower and double sinks, crafted of hammered nickel. The other two bedrooms, named Creekside and Lakeside, have a queen size bed in each. Both share a bathroom on the upper level. Linens and towels are provided, plus soap and shampoo.
The lower level offers a clutter-free, wide open floor plan for gathering as well as quiet seating for reading or conversation. The Great Room has a large, Italian leather, sectional couch from which to relax in front of the fireplace. The side office has a work desk and small couches with views to the side yard. Open the windows to hear the creek. Lighting over the dining table is dimmable so you can choose your mood, low light for romantic dinners or a brighter light for board games.
The wraparound front porch offers a prime vantage point for watching the lake and relaxing. Perfect for quiet reading, enjoying a libation and sharing conversations. There are four Tropitone lounge chairs on the porch and a picnic table on the lower patio.
Parking: Maximum of 3 cars (2 in winter). Vacation rental provides a garage (for two compact or one standard sized car) and a covered carport for one compact sized car. Snow plowing in the winter is included.

Nice clean place, right on the lake. All amenities were stocked and met our needs. Host left helpful notes throughout the house which helped us resolve small problems by ourselves (microwave power went out once but there was a helpful note right next to the microwave to fix the problem). We had a great time!
We had the most amazing stay in this beautiful home. It was well equipped for all our needs and extremely comfortable. We felt at home. And our host provided thorough information and care to make sure everything was convenient.
We loved our stay at this beautiful home! It was perfect for our family and just what I had hoped for! It was across from Donner Lake and we could easily walk to the lake each day! The home was truly immaculate!
Our family had a wonderful vacation in this stunning home - with amazing views. We had a couple of questions before our trip and got very responsive and clear answers. We would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic Property
Beautiful, relaxing, fully equipped house with spectacular views of Donner Lake. Walk across the street to sit on the docks for a very enjoyable day. Definitely will stay again and you will not be disappointed. Shirin (owner) great to deal with.
The home is in a great location to Donner for snow sports and to Truckee for dining and more. Easy access in/out and a great view of Donner Lake! The home is super clean and very organized. The great room with fireplace is amazing! Communication with owner was easy and timely.
We had the most wonderful, peaceful week in this beautiful spot. Our boys were close to their MTB camp, and the kitchen was fully stocked and made it easy to make dinners at night. The lake view made every morning just what you are looking for in a vacation home. Shirin was incredibly accommodating and the home itself is pristine.
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful house overlooking Donner Lake! Five girlfriends celebrating our 65th birthdays (one celebrating 5 years cancer free) we came from all over the country. The house was perfectly equipped and the beds were comfortable! We will be back!
My friends and I stayed here for a 50th birthday, and the home and location provided everything we needed for an enjoyable time. The view just off the front deck was enough to keep us home for our meals. A variety of hikes are just a 5 min drive. Proximity to grocery stores, downtown Truckee and restaurants made planning day trips a breeze! The home is actually even better in person, than in the pictures!
What a special property! Magical. Shirin the property manager was such a good communicator and was AWESOME as I was traveling with an older family member. 🙏🏻 Not many are like this experience ❤️
We have rented many vrbo places over the years and this lake house has been by far the nicest. In addition to the beautiful architecture, the large open floor plan was really perfect for our family which includes three kids in their twenties. Everything worked well and we were able to use one of the public docks for several hours each day, after people fishing vacated them, or families left in the late afternoon. We also really appreciated the two kayaks available for use!
We were so excited to book this beautiful home for my birthday weekend and it did not disappoint. The moment we walked through the doors the views of Donner lake were breathtaking, the house was so inviting, warm and comfortable. The house was clean and beautifully equipped with everything we needed to make our stay perfect.
Shirin was so helpful and easy to communicate with throughout the entire experience. We hope to get lucky enough to find a vacant week in the warmer months to come again for a longer stay next time.

About the host
Hosted by Jeannine
We were married in Squaw Valley and 'honeymooned' many times in the Tahoe area over the years, being drawn to Donner Lake most of all for its tranquility and beauty. We like to share our home with those who also appreciate serenity and nature's beauty, family time and outdoor activities.
Why they chose this property
Our family experienced the serenity and artistic beauty of this Lake House with its outstanding architectural design, openness, beautiful light and views of Donner Lake such that we wanted to make it our home. The architect is the only prior owner. Since 2009 the house has been in high demand as a rental with many repeat guests who feel it is their home away from home. Our Lake House is ideal for a peaceful retreat or special time with family and friends after a day of outdoor fun. Many couples have honeymooned at the Lake House. Conveniently located, our home provides easy access to hiking, mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding, stand up paddle boarding and golf, to name a few. Nearby ski resorts include Palisades (14.5 miles), NorthStar-at-Tahoe (12 miles), Sugar Bowl (5.2 miles), Boreal (5.9 miles), Alpine Meadows, Mount Rose and Donner Ski Ranch. Truckee and Tahoe offer fabulous outdoor sports plus arts and entertainment venues. A bike lane on Donner Pass Road, just steps outside our door, provides the ease of biking, running or walking the 7 mile loop around the lake. Donner Lake provides year round activities for all ages. We are within 8 minutes of historic downtown Truckee with its hometown, Western feel, full of shops and restaurants.
What makes this property unique
Our lake views and architecture are unique among the homes at Donner Lake. Relax on the front porch and watch Donner Lake's personality change throughout the day from foggy calm in the morning to sparkling ripples mid day. The architect designed the windows on the main floor to provide a cooling cross breeze when open and to welcome in the relaxing sounds of the creek that runs the length of the property. Our home offers spacious common rooms for gathering, comfortable seating for reading and quiet bedrooms for privacy. The interior is designed with high quality finishes such as Hubbardton Forge light fixtures, Sierra slate and hammered metal sinks.
