About this property
Luxurious 5000 sf Northstar Home - Incredible Game Room & Four King Bed Suites
5,000 s.f. Luxury Vacation Home + over 1,600 s.f. of outdoor living space.
**Note: Sorry, but we do not accept reservations for groups coming from the Burning Man event in Nevada (late Aug/early Sept).**
Placer County STR Permit STR22-4241 Information: Max Occupancy is 16 people age 12+, AND no more than 21 total (including kids younger than 12). Parking spaces: 6. All vehicles must be parked in garage or driveway at all times. No RVs, boats, or trailers. No parties. No events. No pets. No smoking or vaping anywhere on the property.
The interior of our home sets it apart and into a class all its own. Hand distressed beams, hand hewed walnut floors and intricate masonry create that 'Old Tahoe' feel. A gourmet kitchen with professional grade appliances allows you to create a feast for your family and friends.
This home has a wonderful open floor plan. The kitchen, dining, and living room areas create a warm gathering place after a fun day on the slopes or on the trails. And while the adults gather there, the kids (or "kids at heart") have a place all to their own - a huge game room area in the lower level keeps them entertained so the adults can have some time to themselves. And, in the winter, they have their own private sledding hill right in back of the house.
Our amazing game room has something for everyone: An 84" big screen television, billiards table, 16' long professional shuffleboard table, professional foosball table, ping pong table, dart board, and a large game table that will be perfect for the poker or card game players.
The main deck off of our Great Room is ideal for outdoor entertaining in the spring, summer & fall. A large table seats up to 12, and there are eight Adirondack chairs surrounding the fire pit. The main deck also features a Weber gas grill (may not be available Nov-April). Please note that during the winter/ski season (Nov - April), we move all deck furniture into storage. Our decks may be closed during the winter season (Nov to April).
Off of the Game Room, is our expansive lower level deck. Boasting over 1,400 s.f. of patio and deck space there's a hot tub, picnic table, more Adirondack chairs, cornhole game, and Spikeball. Please note that during the winter/ski season (Nov - April), we move all deck furniture into storage. Our decks may be closed during the winter season (Nov to April).
In the winter, we provide sleds and saucers for kids (and kids at heart) to enjoy the slope below our home.
This home boasts six bedroom suites (bedrooms with attached bathrooms). Four of those bedrooms have king beds. Another one has a queen & a twin. The sixth bedroom is a bunk room (six twin beds) with a private bath. One of the king suites has an attached bedroom with twin beds (bunk), perfect for guests with small children. And there's a den with a comfortable American Leather Comfort Sleeper sofa sleeper - king size bed (gel foam mattress).
The Home Run ski trail can be accessed from the end of our cul-de-sac - a short walk from our home - you can take that down to the Village, or to the Highlands Gondola, for a quick trip up to the slopes or to the Ritz Carlton. Or, you can call for the free shuttle to take you anywhere at Northstar. Please note that the free shuttle does not operate during shoulder seasons.
Our home is part of the Northstar Property Owners' Association (NPOA). Our guests have access to the NPOA Recreation Center, which includes swimming pools, spas, fitness center, tennis courts, and other amenities. Northstar does charge a fee for use of the facility. That fee is currently $10 per day.
Please note that our home is not suitable for hosting any kind of event. We do not accept reservations for weddings, receptions, or any kind of party or loud celebration.
The exterior access points of the home, including the driveway, the walkway to the front door, and the outside decks, are monitored by security cameras, which record video 24/7. Exterior sound levels are also monitored.

Rates are based on a group size (adults + children) of 16 or less. Groups larger than 16 are charged $25 per night, per person, for each person in excess of 16 total. Group size is verified at check in and during the group's stay.
Per Placer County regulations, your group cannot exceed 16 people age of 12+.
The overall maximum group size, including all ages, is 21. Placer County requires Owners to notify all guests on their vacation rental regulations. Prior to your arrival, we will send this notification to each adult member of your group, and they must acknowledge that they understand these regulations. You may request a copy of these regulations prior to making your reservation.
Maximum number of standard size vehicles is 6, although 5 is recommended so that one of the garage bays can be used for storage and staging of ski equipment or other items. The driveway has a capacity of 4 vehicles. The garage has a capacity of 2. Placer County does not allow renters to park on the street. No RV, boat, or trailer parking is allowed.
This home is not appropriate for gatherings that involve copious consumption of alcohol or which might produce unruly behavior or noise. As our guests, we kindly ask that you respect our neighbors and the community by adhering to our house rules, and keeping all outside noise to a minimum. We will not tolerate any excessive noise or partying and have the right to vacate you from the property should this be an issue. Per the Placer County ordinance, outdoor amplified sound of any kind is prohibited.
Like most Tahoe homes at our elevation, our home is not air conditioned. Summer days are best spent enjoying outdoor activities and our summer evenings cool down nicely in the fresh mountain air. Our home is equipped with a whole house fan which allows you to bring the cool evening (and morning) air into the home. If you are considering a Summer stay at our home, and have any concerns about interior climate control, please contact us to discuss further.
Full Transparency on Check Out Duties: At the time of your departure, the home should look the same as it did when you arrive, with the exception of the beds, linens, and customary cleaning of floors and surfaces. In the kitchen, all dishes, utensils, pots/pans, etc... should be cleaned and put away (you may leave a final load running in the dishwasher when you leave). Trash should be taken to the community dumpsters. For the full Check Out Check List, you may view it in the photos in our listing. Please make sure that you are comfortable with it before booking our home.

About the host
Hosted by Dave Gravlin

For many years, we searched the Mountains for the perfect vacation home, where our family and friends could gather for generations to come. Unable to find it, we bought a vacant lot in the Big Springs area of the Northstar Resort (Truckee, California). A year round resort built on the side of Mt. Pluto, Northstar had a reputation for being the most family friendly place in the Sierra. A reputation, we soon learned, that was well earned and deserved.
We then set out to design and build our ideal mountain getaway, always keeping in mind the needs of our boys and of our friends, who we knew would join us often in Tahoe. That’s why there are four king bedroom suites, along with a queen suite, and bunk rooms - 15 beds in total, comfortably able to sleep 21. And, while Northstar and the Tahoe Area already provide ample hours of activities and entertainment, we wanted our home to be a gathering point after the day on the Mountain or on the Lake ended. So, you we dedicated over 1,000 s.f. to an amazing game room, complete with professional quality amenities - shuffleboard, ping pong, billiards, foosball, pinball, poker table, etc...
And, over the years, we have continued to invest in the home’s maintenance and expansion. Even today, it looks as good as it did when we finished construction in 2008. Our most recent investment was a 1,000 s.f. lower deck made of heart redwood from Northern California. This deck is attached to an existing 400 s.f. patio and it triples our outdoor living space, and provides guests with more entertainment and activity options.
Our 100+ five star reviews on this and other vacation rental sites speak to the fact that our guests appreciate the home as much as we do. So, the next time you are looking for a place where your friends and your family can gather to create lasting memories, look no further than Silver Fox at Northstar.

Why they chose this property
Northstar is a wonderful year-round family resort. Our home has easy access to the slopes in the winter time, and to the Village in the summer. And, we are a short drive to the beach at Lake Tahoe or to the historic downtown in Truckee. The investments made in the resort in recent years has made it even better.
What makes this property unique
We built this home when our boys were young, with the intent of creating a place that they, and their friends, would love to return to even when they were older. Four king bedroom suites, and ample additional beds for kids, make the home very comfortable for multiple families. The lower level game room provides hours of entertainment to the young and young at heart. At the same time, the Great Room, located on the floor above, creates a more relaxing area for others to enjoy some peace and comfort.
Much of the money we bring in on rentals is reinvested into the home. It is well maintained, with many thoughtful amenities.
