A Big PLUS!! We Have 600 gallon Water Reserve tank+ Pump for Emergencies as Well as a 30k Generator to provide full seamless energy to the house in case of Power outages. (which are very common in PR)
We are here to ensure you have the best experience possible in a beautiful Island and an amazing home close to all.
1) First-time visitors really should experience the metro area first. You won’t want to go to Puerto Rico without experiencing some of the major attractions that are either in the metro area or within 50 minutes of it:
a. Old San Juan in general
b. The forts- El Morro and San Cristóbal that are in Old San Juan
c. The Condado strip
d. The Condado Lagoon, which is a manatee preserve and you can paddleboard or Kayak with the manatees
e. Sunset cruises you can take out of the San Juan marina
f. The Placita del Mercado
g. If you are into museums, The Museo de Puerto Rico, Museo de Las Americas, and the Museo Contemporaneo, as well the numerous art galleries in the metro area (Santurce/Miramar, Old San Juan)
h. The Isla Verde Beach- a scene with possibilities to jet ski, banana boat, etc.
i. Piñones
j. Luquillo
k. El Yunque (the rain forest)
l. The Bacardi Factory
m. The T-Mobile District
n. If you have kids, the Museo del Niño in Carolina
o. And the restaurants, restaurants, restaurants. Pretty much of our celebrity chefs and rising stars have their restaurants in the metro area (yes, there are good restaurants in other places but not to the level or quantity you will find in the metro area)
2) The metro area is centrally located so day trips to many of the other destinations you might want to see are entirely possible:
a. Ponce- 1.5 hours
b. Salinas- 1.20 minutes- most people stop there to eat on the way to or from Ponce
c. Luquillo beach and the kiosks- about 35 minutes
d. Fajardo- from which you can take catamaran rides to Icacos and Culebra- about 1 hour. It’s also when one of our bioluminescent bays is, but it’s not the best one.
e. Isabela/Guajataca- 1.5 hours
f. Guavate, Cayey (the Pork Highway)- 45 minutes
g. Manatí- 45 minutes
h. Humacao and the natural reserve- 40 minutes
i. Rincon, Cabo Rojo, and other places on the southwest corner are the least accessible for a day trip as its about a 2+ hour drive, but if you have the time you could do 2 days in that part of the island (or come back and do the southwest for your second trip!) Close to there is Lajas, where you can go to the La Parguera bioluminescent bay (second best one)
j. Similarly, Vieques is awesome for a 2-5 day trip- something to do as part of a longer trip or a second one. Aside from having some of the best beaches in the world, Vieques is home to our best bioluminescent bay.
k. Also Culebra is good for either a day trip on a catamaran or you can do 1-2 days. It’s small!!! That’s the home of the famous Flamenco Beach, considered by many to literally be in the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world.
2) why Isla Verde and not Condado? it depends on what you’re looking for. The bottom line is the beach in Condado is one of the most dangerous beaches in the entire island. it used to be that in the Punta Les Marias area there was a great beach but it has eroded over time. Look it up. In Condado, many have drowned.. many tourists and especially kids. It’s a great area unless you care about beach!
On the other hand… The distance between Isla Verde and Condado is literally 10 minutes… by staying in Isla Verde, you have the best of both worlds, both the best safe beach and accessibility to all the nightlife, shops, and restaurants in Condado without the dangerous beach.
4) Flying in and out of the metro area is super easy.
5) It’s entirely possible to stay in the Metro area without renting a car (unless you want to visit other parts of the island) as there are plenty of Ubers and taxis, they are less available and less reliable in other parts ofthe island. BUT IF YOU PLAN ON TOURISTING AROUND THE ISLAND RENT A CAR!
