About this property
Spectacular View from Charming Waterfront Cottage on Fogland Point
Charming four season cottage in a spectacular location on Fogland Point. Large wraparound deck faces the Sakonnet River and features a gorgeous panoramic ocean view. We particularly enjoy cocktails on the deck or sitting around the fire pit at sunset. The sunsets on Fogland Point are unusually gorgeous.
The front yard leads to private rocky beach great for swimming, fishing, kayaking, shell collecting and exploring the water's edge. Located a short five minute walk from the town swimming beach (lifeguard on duty seasonally) and boat launch. Fogland Point is an ideal location for kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and is one of the best windsurfing and kiting locations in New England.
This two bedroom cottage has a queen sized bed in the master bedroom, a set of bunk beds and a single bed in the child-friendly second bedroom, and a futon couch in the closed-in porch (where you can hear the sound of the water at night). The house is fully winterized with the exception of the closed-in porch. Maximum of six guests when porch is usable, and only four during the cold months.
The house is equipped with wi fi, smart TV, DVD player and a bluetooth/mp3 player. Though the kitchen is small, it is fully equipped with microwave, coffee maker, blender, mixer, baking pans, etc. A front-loading stackable washer/dryer is located in the bathroom. All linens are provided.
The house is very kid-friendly and comes with beach toys, books, a few videos and a lot of games for family evenings or the occasional rainy day. The closed-in porch, complete with lobster lights, is great for enjoying sunsets and quiet evenings with the sounds of waves lapping on the rocky beach below.
Sadly our cottage is not animal-friendly. We use the cottage ourselves several weeks per year, and one of our daughters has a severe allergy to dogs. Therefore, the cottage is strictly an animal-free zone in order to protect the well being of our daughter.
The cottage is located less than 10 minutes from Gray's Ice Cream, frequently rated best ice cream in RI. Besides Gray's there are other businesses worth exploring in historic Tiverton Four Corners, including several antique shops and galleries, a toy store, gift and home decor shops, designer clothing shops, cheese and pate' shop, bookstore, library, restaurants and more. Tour Sakonnet Vineyards, only 10 minutes away. Downtown Newport, with its mansions, sailing, restaurants, shopping, and jazz festival is only 30 minutes away. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2023/07/27/travel/things-to-do-newport-rhode-island.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
Great food abounds at local restaurants, fresh seafood markets, and country stands (in season) in both Tiverton and neighboring Little Compton. Local restaurants feature great home cooking and seafood specialties, like seafood chowder, lobster rolls, fried clams, clam cakes and homemade pies.
Water Sports: The cottage is located a short 5 minute walk from one of the best windsurfing and kiting locations in New England. Rental equipment and private lessons are often available on the beach. According to a popular windsurfing website, "Fogland point is one of the most popular spots in the state. It is one of the windiest sites not on Cape Cod. There is a sheltered shallow cove area on the north side of the point (you can walk across except at high tide) and slightly more open sailing on the south side. Great area for all skills of sailors. The beach is nice... and not too busy. Pebbly, sandy beach, not very big waves... One of the most beautiful and scenic sailing sites also. There's a saltwater marsh, and some tidal pools with lots of sea life."
The sheltered shallow cove on the north side of Fogland Point is wonderful for stand up paddle boarding. Last summer we watched a SUP yoga class moored out in the cove.
Our daughters have loved playing around the marshes. When they were small they collected hermit crabs, as they grew they graduated to playing hide and seek in the marshes on surf boards and in kayaks.

Perfect location to get away. The location leaves nothing to desire. Absolutely secluded in wilderness with Newport literally a syones throw away. Don't pass hp the opportunity to stay here!
Hosts were wonderful. Location was amazing and the accommodations were charming. The only thing I would have loved more would be the season. I will definitely look into returning in the summertime.
Lynn and Glen were just fantastic, brought 4 of my boys up for 7 days to visit their father. We drove 28 hours, arrived early and they were kind enpugh to accommodate us after the long drive with checking in early. The house is just adorable, the view is fantastic and the hosts are very great at communication.Look forward to staying again sometime.
The cottage was pristine, well organized and perfectly located. We very much enjoyed our stay. We will be booking a return trip to stay again this upcoming summer. Thank you for the wonderful memories!
Great to be back! Beautiful week! Great location, weather, scenery, you name it!Great owners, excellent communication. The ONLY downside is that we didn’t book for longer!
The million-dollar view from the cottage. The cottage was charming, and the owners were friendly and accommodating throughout the entire experience. I loved every minute of my do-less-breath-deep vacation and left rejuvenated.
There were ants on counters, stove and in microwave. shower was backed up, couldn’t use it.Shark bedroom was extremely cold, couldn’t sleep due to the extreme cold. Disappointment is an understatement, given this getaway was for my terminally ill friend for his birthday.

We just read your review and are truly sorry that you had a negative experience at our cottage. We genuinely wish you had contacted us during your visit, as we would have addressed the issues right away. A plumber could have been sent immediately to resolve the shower drain, and our fastidious housekeeper would have promptly taken care of the ant concern. She was there an hour before you arrived and reports that she did not see any ants in the home.
We understand how important comfort is, especially during colder weather - and you were there during a particularly cold spell (which might have caused a frozen shower drain). Portable oil-filled heaters are provided (including one typically kept in the bathroom), and one could have been moved to the cold bedroom. We regret that we did not have the opportunity to ensure everything was as warm and comfortable as it should have been.
We’re very sorry we didn’t have the chance to make your stay more enjoyable and appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.
We had a fantastic stay and felt immediately at home the moment we arrived. The space is beautifully decorated, clean, and thoughtfully equipped, it truly exceeded our expectations. The location is ideal, quiet yet convenient to local restaurants, shops and scenic spots. Every day offered something new to explore but it was always a joy to return to this comfortable, calm retreat. The host made check-in seamless and offered helpful local tips that enhanced our overall experience. All in all, this property is one we would recommend without hesitation. Thank you for such a memorable stay!
The Waterfront Cottage on Fogland Point was great! The hosts provided all the information we needed to get there, stay there, and enjoy every minute. Going to a waterfront property in the Fall/early Winter is alwasy a gamble; but with this property, the odds are in your favor. The place is at the tip of the point, along a naroow lane, almos like a British country road. It is small, quaint, nicely appointed, equipted with everything you need any time of the year, and it is clean. It is also very quiet and the views of the river right outside the door are beautiful and restful. The hosts provide a lot of information about the area, places to see, restaurants, and grocery stores. Our three nights there were great and we will come back again.
This cottage is one of a kind! The location is stellar and we enjoyed our time on the rocks by the water collecting shells and sea glass. We loved the quiet area this home was in and loved walking the beach on the off season. Beds are very comfortable and the yard and fire pit are in such a perfect setting. We are looking forward to coming back again for another stay one year in the summer to explore all the area has to offer!

So glad you had a great stay!
We’d love to have you back!
We had a truly wonderful, relaxing week here. Glen and Lynn’s comfortable, cozy cottage is a complete charm. In the morning, we’d take our coffee and walk to the beautiful marsh lands on the other side of the peninsula, and at evening, take in the exceptional views of the river outside, especially at sunset. In between, of course, there are countless ways to enjoy the farmcoast.
The house was a perfect cottage experience with gorgeous water front view. We loved everything about our vacation. Thank you for sharing your home with us

Why they chose this property
Our family has been vacationing here on Fogland Point since 1984. My wife and I spend 2-3 weeks here every summer and our twin daughters, now age 21, describe it as their favorite place in the whole world. Fogland Point is a treasure, with its 16 small cottages, private dirt road, and spectacular views in every direction.
