About this property
Desert Retreat
A mid-century ranch style home, tucked away on an acre of tranquil desert surrounded by sweeping desert valley views and Borrego's iconic mountain vistas, Indian Head, and Fonts Point.
The space
Start your day slowly with a freshly brewed cup of coffee while enjoying the patio's east- facing views of the sunrise as the desert wakes up around you.
Every season at Bar O has something special to offer:
In the summer, relax poolside at one of Borrego's day-use pools. The mid-century style olympic-sized pool at The Palms at Indian Head ($15/pp) or the pool, spa, and fitness facilities at La Casa Del Zorro Thursday-Sunday ($25/pp or $45/family of 4) are two local favorites. Back at Bar O, turn the patio misters on or hop in under the outdoor shower to cool off.
In late February to early March, the desert explodes with blooms!
During the spring, fall and winter use Bar O as a base for day trips to explore the state park, bike around town, hike in the desert, or golf at Ram's Hill, an award-winning course.
When the sun starts to set, be sure to catch the alpine glow that is cast over Fonts Point.
Play desert bocce on your one acre playground or challenge a player or two to a shuffle board competition!
The kitchen has new, upgraded appliances and is fully stocked with cookware making for an easy home-cooked meal. Even better, throw your favorite dinner on the propane or charcoal grill. The option for 6 to dine inside or al fresco. Gather around the fire pit to enjoy the internationally-recognized dark sky community's star show while the coyotes yip and howl in the distance. Fire-roasted s'mores for dessert!
Peak into the telescope to be transported into the limitless galaxies above.
Lounge on one of three living room sofas and watch Netflix or Direct TV on the 70 inch TV, or grab a record and listen to it crack and pop as it spins your favorite album. Light a fire in the wood-burning fireplace for an extra cozy night in.
When you're ready to retire to one of the spacious bedrooms, sink into one of the three bedrooms' king memory foam mattresses and feel the crisp, silky percale sheets on your skin. Stay bundled up with our down comforters draped in French linen duvets. Each bedroom has blackout shades, roll it down and sleep in a little later than you normally would- you're on vacation! Need another spot to sleep? Our sofa's bench style cushion is a very comfy option for a 7th guest.
