Thank you Danielle for take care of our property, we really appreciate. Happy to host you anytime. Jose
After over a decade of regular VRBO stays, this is the first negative review we have ever left, and the first property we have had to leave. The house smelled very strongly of rodents, to the point of causing itching and breathing issues. The entire house was completely covered in ultrasonic deterrent devices, which clearly were not working. We left after about 15 minutes to go find somewhere else to stay, as sleeping there was out of the question. We immediately notified the owner, who has been friendly , but has pretended this is not an issue, and has not been at all forthcoming in honestly acknowledging the rodent problem and refunding our stay. He offered a one night refund, which is inadequate given the property was uninhabitable if you don’t want to sleep with rodents. We did not stick around to take a million photos, as we assumed the owner would be more professional. Attached is one photo which has one of the devices sitting on the toilet. There were probably 25 around the house. We would have not even bothered to leave this review if the owner would have done the right thing and given a refund.

We are truly sorry this guest’s experience didn’t meet their expectations. We did actually refund more than one night, and more than recommended by VRBO; however, this review was unfortunately written before the conversation was concluded.
We take all concerns seriously and responded immediately when contacted, sending our property manager to the home swiftly. Unfortunately, the guest had already left, so he was unable to assess or address their concerns together.
Our property manager had prepared the house and followed up, and found no odor or evidence of rodents. To ensure the comfort of all future guests, we brought in additional independent checks, including licensed contractors, multiple individuals with varying allergies/sensitivities, and our year-round professional pest control service who all confirmed no evidence of activity, and that we already follow best practices for forest properties by sealing everything we can, using the photographed deterrents (of which there are about 8, not 25, as it's one for each room) and we hire professional year-round monitoring.
Because the property is nestled in the forest, we are disciplined and equipped with extensive preventive measures. If any additional preventative measure is recommended, we are always open to implementing it.
We’ve hosted many happy guests over the last 10 years, including our next guests who were fully satisfied with the condition, and were disappointed they couldn’t check in earlier because proper protocol was not followed.
We were surprised that a review was posted while our communication was still ongoing and, while we regret that this guest’s stay was cut short, we did issue a refund exceeding VRBO’s recommended amount. We care deeply about our guests’ comfort and work hard to provide a peaceful, well-maintained retreat for everyone who visits, as is reflected by over a 10 year history of great reviews on multiple rental platforms.
Nice home with large open dining/living area. That space was great for family (all adults) to hang out together, and each couple also had their own bedroom. Kitchen very well equipped.
Our family originally built this home and it was amazing to see what Jose’s family has done to it over the years.
If looking for a quiet place to stay that is still within a short distance of civilization, this is your place to go
Beautiful and cozy cabin that is spacious and welcoming. There is a pond and garden that add to the picturesque nature of the property. Overall a quiet and secluded place to vacay!
We live in Vermont, and decided to vacation in the state due to the coronavirus. We had to make several changes in our original reservation (due to the pandemic), and the property manager was very helpful in handling these.
The place was even better than we imagined. We wish we could have spent more time away. There was so much to do, even just a short drive away. And, we could have happily stayed just at the house. It was comfortable, bright, and well-provisioned.
In addition, although we couldn't swim in the pond, it provided endless entertainment to the two children who used the net to capture (and release) "critters."
Hopefully, there will be another visit in the future. Thank you!
Perfect spot. Exactly as described. We had a great time.

The house could not have been more perfect for a serene, weekend getaway.
The opportunity to stay in a stranger's home and feel like it is your home of 20+ years is rare in my experience. Yet, this was the feeling my five friends and I had from the moment we set foot in the front door. Not only was the house incredibly accessible and easy to find for one so peacefully tucked away, it was also warm and under constant natural light that easily made its way inside. And while the property manager had to come and adjust furnace settings on the first night for some extra warmth, he did so immediately and with minimal disturbance. After each long day of skiing, all we wanted was to return to the confines of such a comfortable setting. A fully stocked kitchen and open floor plan made cooking and sharing meals doubly enjoyable. With three queen beds and a nicely furnished living room, at no point did any one of us feel uncomfortable or like we were lacking privacy. I sincerely look forward to the opportunity to stay in this house again in the future and know it will be possible given how welcoming and responsive the owner was. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!
