Location, location, location!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this property. The listing accurately describes the space. We enjoyed kayaking and hanging out at the pond. The property is centrally located and was close to a lot of things to explore. Mary was very friendly and provided all the information needed to enjoy our stay.

Cottage in Granville
The place is listed as 500 sq ft, but space is used very efficiently so it appears much larger than it is. The cottage and property are clean and well taken care of. The backyard has lots of activities for families. The sunset are stars are beautiful. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing time here. Mary is a gracious host. We would definitely stay here again.

Great place to unwind
The location of this cottage is perfect for anyone wanting to go out and explore. It’s located about 40 min to an hour from places to explore, with waterfalls and little towns along the way. Mary was wonderful, we thankfully didn’t need anything from her during our stay, but we always knew she was available. My family of four (including a 2 and 4 year old) stayed in the cottage. The boys slept in the futon on the main floor and used the loft to play. We swam in the pond and the boys loved playing in the dirt and stone with their trucks. There’s kayaks available, a zip line, a hammock and many other games/things to do outside right on the property. We definitely will be contacting Mary to stay here again if we decide to come back to Vermont!

Excellent
What an amazing place. The location was secluded and private and the views spectacular. Mary was right next door which, to us, was great because she was a treasure-trove of information and a very kind and gracious host. The pond and landscape were very neat and nicely kept. Plenty of outdoor activities to do - kayaking, volleyball, soccer, a row boat, a fire pit and places for short walks. It's perfect. We had two little kids (a 4 year old and a 10 month old), and both were entertained by the great outdoors. The home itself was just the right size. Overall, we had a great time in a great location.

About the host

To briefly escape the hubbub of New York in 2002, I spent two weeks with my best cousin in Vermont. For months after I returned to NY I dreamed of living in Vermont. A year later, thanks to the Internet, I was able to make my dream come true. I bought the property right next door to my cousins place and moved to Vermont for good. A 25-year veteran of the higher education publishing industry, I no longer have to live where the company I work for is located. I telecommute.

Why they chose this property

My brother liked to come to Vermont in the summer to escape the Florida heat, but he is deathly allergic to dogs and cats and since my cousin and I both have pets, he had to stay in hotels. So in 2008 I built a guest cottage for him on my property. He uses it for a week in summer and a week in winter and the rest of the time (to help pay for it) I am renting it to vacationers.

What makes this property unique

I love participating in the small town social life of Granville. But what I love most about my new life here is that I can work and vacation in the same place. In the summer I can swim twice a day if I want to, work in my vegetable and flower gardens, go for long walks, hang out with my cousin and her horses, and still put in a respectable day’s work at the computer. I work longer hours in the winter, but still get plenty of exercise walking, show shoeing, and snow shoveling. My son and his family love it here in summer, but even more in winter as they are avid skiers. So I always seem to have family visits on the horizon.
