The home was beautiful, spacious, and wonderful for our getaway for 19 people. The pictures don't do justice. Kitchen was huge with tons of cookware, plates and utensils with multiple areas to sit and dine. The beds were comfortable and I even heard one of the lakefront bedrooms had a sleep number bed! The basement was huge with tons of entertainment possibilities for rainy days and night time- the pool table, air hockey table and ping pong table were used heavily! The antique consoles were a fun experience for the kids. The outside was my favorite- the lawn was so spacious we played wiffle ball, kickball and football. We found the volleyball net the last day and would have used it if we had known! Darn! The fire pit was wonderful for warming up and making s'mores. The lake front had a small beach, two kayaks, a swing to jump into the lake, diving board, and an upper deck on the pier to jump off of too! The kids had a blast, even though it was chilly. The full size washer/dryer was convenient and was newer and efficient. There were several minor things that could be improved:planks holding the diving board (could be dangerous if not fixed), ladder (into the water; was too hard to use with the wobble) and air hockey table were wobbly; the master bedroom comforter and blanket were the only ones that looked unwashed/had lots of hair on it; the top floor had four bedrooms with one full bath (Was aware, but logistically more challenging than expected to share one bathroom with 4 couples). None of these things would deter us from coming back though as it was close to perfect as can be!
The property was just as listed and the host provided a great stay.
Better in person
We had a 30th birthday celebration for my wife and it was the perfect place.
Could use some regular maintenance
Property could use some regular upkeep and maintenance.
Stunning house with incredible lake access
We had an absolute blast. Everything was perfect. Amy was super accessible and was amazing. The pictures do not do the property justice. The beds and linens were super comfortable and overall just a great stay.
Lake Anna Vacation
Beautiful home, nice property. Everything is as you could hope for with a few exceptions. I had a houseful of twenty somethings. The WIFI was non-existent. There was just enough WIFI to run the security cameras. In 5 days no one established a connection. This made it impossible to evaluate local sites as well as to navigate to events. On numerous occasions we clocked the WIFI at about 125 Kilobytes/sec, modern email seeds are around 25 megabytes/sec. Several of our guests had planned on working from the house but that proved impossible.
Secondly the video game consoles were actually antiques, There was Nintendo, Super Nintendo, PlayStation 1, and WII. the newest game console was almost 10 years old and not all of the games played on the consoles. Fortunately I brought my personal PlayStation 4 for the kids.
There was mold in all of the showers. The sink in the ground floor master bathroom was stuck closed and could not be drained or used.
The BBQ grill launched flames out of the front when we turned it on. We quickly shut it down. Probably just needs new gas diffusers.
My apologies for the weak wifi at the house. The internet provider at the lake (iWisp) experienced recent storm damage as well as vandalism to their infrastructure and has been working diligently to resolve the issues. It is better now, but still not back to 100%. And yes, the outdoor security cameras were affected as well.
Unfortunately, I was unaware of a problem with the grill, but there was another in the garage that could have easily been swapped out during your stay, had I known of a problem. I live only a couple of miles from the property and try to respond quickly to any guest concerns, but I have to be notified there is a problem. The grill has now been replaced.
There was a bit of mold around the caulking at the floor in the master bathroom shower, but I have seen no evidence of mold in the upper or lower level showers. The drain plug one of the master bath sinks has and could've been repaired as well. I am trying to work a remodel of the master bath into the off season this year.
Your comments on the game consoles are accurate (there's also an xbox 360 there), but personally, I, and even my 20 and 30-something year old children and much younger grandchildren appreciate some of the 'legacy' games at the house. I've had many guests comment on the same, so I choose to leave them there for those who wish to use them. I believe some consoles (like the Wii) can play games from some of the newer systems as well, but guests are certainly welcome to bring their own systems for entertainment. I will place a box nearby for guests to place games that no longer work, so they can be evaluated and/or discarded. I don't play the 50 or 60+ games there, and again, have no way of knowing when something is not working unless I'm told.
I hope you and your family had an enjoyable time at the property, despite the property not being perfect.
This property is a short (5-10) minute walk to Lake Anna's popular Cove Restaurant and outdoor tiki bar. Or boat / jetski over in less than a minute and tie up at their dock to relax to a refreshment and enjoy the lovely sunsets on the water.
