Great property managed by customer oriented property owner. Great communication and plenty of tips to enjoy the Big Island. Property could not be located a prettier location and the thousand small touches in the house made it difficult to want to leave and explore the island. The abundance of items supplied truly showed an owner who wanted his customers to enjoy their vacation. Many thank Richard
This was such a great place to stay! They had snorkeling supplies, boogie boards, bikes and lots of other choices that made it extra special. The owner let us stay in the house until our plane flew out instead of having us be gone by 11, without charging us, which was so nice. And the beaches across the street and on that road were very popular and fun! It was definitely a great experience with lots of great amenities!
Every detail was perfect The property is amazing, and the views are mesmerizing. The owner was quick to answer our questions, and the overall experience was exceptional. We’ve already booked with them again for next season, couldn’t be happier.Aloha
My family and I really enjoyed this property! The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of fans for added comfort. Richard was a excellent and receptive host. Our favorite things about this house is of course the location! We swam and snorkeled and got to see plenty of wildlife including sea turtles! I would happily stay here again!
Great position, accommmodated 9 of us ranging from 3 to 72 yrs really well. House is a little rumpty but we loved finishing our active days with pre dinner drinks at the pools over the road and cooling off with an easy dip in one of the many pools. Richard was a really helpful and easy to contact host. Well equiped kitchen.
Can't beat the location here with such easy access to beach parks, and a quick drive to downtown Hilo. Great family stay to explore the area. Easy communication and access.
11 people from 5 different households stayed in this house - everyone had a room, except my son slept on the convertible couch, and we had good space for visiting in the mornings and evenings. The house had plenty of towels including beach towels and all teh necessities that we needed to enjoy the beach and other places that we explored. The host sent great materials ahead of time and communicated quickly during our stay.
Convenient location and walk to the beach, we watched surfers from the front window. Spacious, we had 8 adults and the rooms were comfortable. The house has lots of character… it was everything we needed and more! Beautiful stay!
Loved how accessible the bedroom was. The upstairs had a lovely view of the ocean and was a great place for all of us to congregate and have a great time!
My family enjoyed our stay in the house. The kids especially enjoyed being able to walk across the street and snorkel with turtles. The owner is very available and helpful. We appreciated the information book with all the details and opinions.
This place was perfect for our family. The host was very easy to get a hold of and the house had everything we needed. We only had to walk across the street to see sea turtles! Its a great spot just slightly out of the busy area of town. I would highly recommend staying more then a day in Hilo. You can find so many places to get away from crowds.
This house has the most beautiful view of the ocean! Must love nature to stay here! Frog songs will lull you to sleep and the geckos will entertain you! Just minutes to downtown Hilo!
This beautiful beach property is right beside some of the best snorkeling on the Big Island. We went out for a quick snorkel on our last morning and were able to observe 16 sea turtles!
Richard is a great host that communicates clearly, quickly, and is kind.
If you are looking for super fancy, this might not be what you want. For my family, however it was perfect. Plenty of room, the things we needed in the kitchen and with kids we were so glad for washer and dryer. Exactly what you would expect from a beach house. Best things...the view and the location. Would book again.

Pefect family getaway house!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property and have many memories that will last a lifetime! The snorkeling, fish, turtles and location make this the perfect family getaway house. Home was stocked with everything you need in kitchen to ocean toys, snorkels and reef booties. We are hoping to make it back as soon as possible. Thank you Richard!

Wow this property was wonderful for our family of 8. We loved the room set up, the number of bathrooms, kitchen and all needed supplies, the sporting equipment, especially the snorkeling gear. There was even sand toys for the kids. The property itself was perfect. We walked across the street to great beaches. Thank you so much for helping make our trip excellent!!

About the host

Why rent from me: Owner of 5 homes directly across from Richardson's beach park and 3 ocean front homes in paradise park. I manage these homes personally with my cell number available to all guests. Payments are handled through the security of the Homeaway/VRBO site. Guests also receive information on restaurants, shopping and my favorite places to visit.
Why they chose this property
I stayed as a guest at this house in 2011 and it happened to be for sale. We loved the house and location. We purchased it and that was the start of our rental business in Hilo. We later bought and rebuilt the house next door and two homes 6 doors up the street. We continued to improve this house, clearing out the jungle and planting fruit trees. We also added all the beach toys as this is still the house we stay at when we visit. We come about 4 times a year. Half the time is spent maintaining the homes, but we always do something new. We review all the places we go and include them in Activities on our website (hilovacationhomes.com)
What makes this property unique
Unique benefits: If you plan on staying more than a couple days, you will have to enjoy the location. If you love the water and especially snorkeling, you will not find a better location. The best snorkeling is in just a few feet of water right in front of the black sand beach. It is like swimming in a tropical fish store. Green sea turtles come to rest for the night in the evening at the rocks just beyond the black sand beach. The water is largely sheltered by the rocks creating a partial lagoon. Yet this house is just down the street from downtown Hilo. Great for quick trips out to eat, shopping and many tourist locations. Review the "location" tab for a list of over 20 great places to see.
