Come Enjoy this Lovely In-Town Home! (1355)

This 1934 Cape home, named “Sunbeams,” is a quaint home away from home. Sunbeams is a short distance to town with easy and quick access to shops, galleries, restaurants, and Wellfleet harbor while still offering plenty of space to breathe and relax away from the bustle. This home truly offers the best of both worlds: just a short distance to the center of town, for some excitement or enjoy a leisurely day tucked away in the hammock. Enjoy any or every meal of the day at the outdoor dining table on the deck. Run and play with the kids in the large yard inclusive of a lovely swing set or in the playhouse, and afterwards enjoy a relaxing rinse in the newly renovated outdoor shower – a staple of summertime on the Cape.

Amenities include central air, high quality furnishings, and a new front-loading washer and dryer in the basement. The eat-in kitchen is bright and cheerful including a dishwasher and plenty of space for meals – preparing and enjoying them! On the first floor is a cozy living room with a sizeable television and Apple TV4K, an airy screened-in porch including a convertible couch and a second television, two bedrooms (with cordless, room-darkening blinds!), and a full bath. On the second floor are two more bedrooms and a half bath. For cooking outdoors there is a gas grill and a charcoal Weber grill. Additionally, the property is regularly treated with organic mosquito control protection.

Reviewer Comments: We have rented this property for several years, and whether it’s a full house or just the two of us, as it was during covid, we have found it warm and welcoming. Despite the cozy feeling, there are plenty of quiet areas for work or reading. It just feels like home. It is well located for walks or runs. My favorite places to go are the marina, across Uncle Tom's Bridge to watch the crabs and birds, and of course shopping at Off Center. The ocean beaches and Wildlife Refuge are short drives. I am also always surprised by the quality and variety of the town market (and of course, Hatch's produce). As a vegetarian, I have no trouble eating excellent meals at Mac's, Winslow Tavern, and the Wicked Oyster. Considerable time is also spent at PB Boulangerie Bistro. Dealing with the property management was great as they are quick to respond to any queries.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've been staying on the Cape since 1979 and in Wellfleet since 1987. We've had this house on our radar for some time, but the timing was never right. This year it worked and we were not disappointed! This was the best house yet! There were 5 adults in our party. There was comfortable seating in the kitchen, living room and sun porch for all of us. The variety of furnishings in the bedrooms accommodated everyone's preferences, and the beds were comfortable. The extended deck area offered a variety of seating for different times of the day. Our preference is to stay in town to enjoy the walkability of Wellfleet. This house is a 5-10 minute walk to the Flying Fish and Box Lunch, and to the heart of the town. It is just up the street from the library. It is a pleasant walk to the harbor and Mayo Beach, and you can walk off the ice cream on the way home. The old Lema's, now the Wellfleet Market Place, had everything we needed, including our favorite Portuguese muffins, good meat, and good sandwiches. The Market and the liquor store just down the street have a good selection of wines. Don't miss a stop at the AIM Thrift Store. The house is extremely well furnished. There were spices, oils and vinegars in the cupboard, Dove soap in the soap dishes; laundry, dishwasher, dish and hand soaps were provided; there was an excellent variety of cooking pans with lids, a good selection of microwave and storage dishes, and a good gas grill for grilling that fish and shrimp from Mac's and The Boathouse. Unfortunately, we were too early for Hatch's Fish Market, which is our usual go-to. We travel with a collection of kitchen items that we use, but that have been missing in our past rentals. The only thing we needed from the box was a fly swatter and our beer cozies. The owners have done an excellent job of updating and maintaining this house while maintaining the original character. It was a joy to stay in this house and we look forward to returning!
