Unwind inside in comfy chairs or lounge outside on the wrap-around deck, all while taking in amazing unobstructed views of the Nisqually Reach Aquatic Reserve. A no-bank beach ramp is perfect for families & small non-motorized watercraft. High speed internet is rare for this part of the island.

Extensive list of cooking appliances for making whatever meals you desire: coffee maker with coffee, toaster oven, blender, waffle maker, pressure cooker, air fryer, popcorn maker (kernels provided), immersion blender, hand mixer, full size fridge and oven. There is also a charcoal grill available.

Laundry & mud room with washer, dryer and deep laundry sink.

Outside there are chairs and tables for reclining and entertaining. All west facing windows have unobstructed water views. Ample 5 acre property with yard and no-bank private beach access.

For entertainment, high speed internet allows for remote work or streaming entertainment. A Bose sound system with Bluetooth connectivity, various puzzles, games, books, and a corn hole set are provided for your enjoyment.

Guests have use of the main house, wrap around decks, yards, driveways, and beach. Key lock box code and detailed driving instructions will be prior to arrival. You will marvel at the privacy and remoteness of this property. Wildlife sightings of bald eagles and birds, seals, porpoises, deer, coyotes, and even sometimes whales can be seen from the house. The surrounding beaches are also private and it is common to not see anyone for days. The property borders an island park to the south. Respect all private property and no trespass signage while walking the beaches.

Other things to note:
This property requires a ferry ride and purchase of ferry tickets (children under 18 are free but still require a ticket). The ferry typically runs between 5am-10pm every day. The Anderson Island ferry ride takes approximately 20 minutes. You can purchase tickets via the City Experiences Hornblower app or from the ticket office at the Steilacoom ferry terminal on the mainland. Tickets are round trip and non-reservable. Wait times in the summer months and holidays can be longer so plan accordingly.

No trailers or RVs are allowed. Off-road vehicles are not required, and standard cars and SUVs are fine, but we feel it is advisable to let guests know this is a remote and unpaved part of the island. Getting to our property requires driving on uneven and sometimes bumpy gravel roads, as well as driving down a long steep and winding driveway.

We know pets are family too. We welcome you to enjoy our home with up to 2 dogs. They must be fully grown adult dogs, non-aggressive, and house broken. There is a $50 pet fee per stay.

We recommend downloading the Anderson Island Assistant app. It is very useful for important information about events on the island, the ferry schedules & ferry line cameras, weather, business hours, emergency services, and tides.

Groceries and amenities are limited. There is one general store which provides pantry staples and fresh dairy and eggs and things like gas, propane, and ice. The fresh produce and meat options are limited and more expensive due to the island’s remoteness. If you seek things for special diets you will need to purchase supplies in advance and bring them with you. We recommend you bring what you need for your stay.

You must abide by all county fire safety rules and restrictions. Outdoor recreational fire pit use is allowable most of the year, however extreme caution is required as coastal winds and dry conditions are common and restrictions are posted at the ferry terminals and General Store on the island. When permitted, only one small fire is allowed at a time and it must be supervised 100% of the time and extinguished completely.

For families with babies and toddlers, with advanced notice we can provide a high chair, a Bjorn folding crib, potty seat, and some kid friendly toys. Please note that the deck does not have railings, there are natural dangers on the property such as seawall/bulkhead, stairs, and the house is not baby proof. We maintain gardens and a small apartment above the garage. We will notify guests at least 24 hours in advance if we will be on the property. We will always respect guests privacy and never will access your house without consent or unless there is an emergency.

About the host

Host profile image
Hi! Our family experienced some big changes with our careers, shifts to remote work, and schooling for our kids. We moved in 2022 to Anderson Island from Seattle. We now live in Steilacoom and we enjoy travel, gardening, and good food. Our two young children love beach combing, puzzles, and playing with our Bernedoodles..

Why they chose this property

We feel very fortunate to have found our Anderson Island retreat and believe it is truly a magical place. We are new hosts and it's been exciting thinking about how to create a welcoming and wonderful place for others.

What makes this property unique

From the moment you board the ferry, the adventure begins. Look for seals and marine wildlife, see the other islands and amazing views of Mt. Rainier. Once you arrive on the island, you'll feel how small and undeveloped this community is. There are no stop lights, no chain stores, no city noises. Since a lot of the island is cliff and high-bank, our home offers unique no-bank beach access just steps from the porch.
