Very cozy place despite being so large! We loved sitting outside on the back and front porches to read and enjoy the peace and beautiful scenery. We drove the fewer than 10 mins into Florissant for food a few times and had great experiences all around. It was a great, restful weekend getaway!

What a perfect place to relax and enjoy the mountains!

What can I say other than a perfect place for our family to enjoy the holidays. The cabin was amazing with the amenities, location and view. We loved staying in the mountains and it was close to all the things we wanted to do in southern Colorado. Our hosts were great to work with and we enjoyed talking to Don each time we had the chance. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking and we will be back in the summer!

Tihsreed

We stayed at the Tihsreed cabin with 9 people ranging from ages 9 years to 65 years old. It was the perfect cozy place for us. The bedrooms on the main level were perfect for the older guests and the bedrooms up and downstairs for the younger guests. We loved the charm and uniqueness of the cabin. There were wonderfully unique treasures all over the walls and ceilings that we were continuously discovering. The front porch is beautiful and great for morning coffee. We also enjoyed the back deck in the evening. The amenities were great in this cabin, the kitchen was stocked with every gadget you need and there were an abundance of towels and bedding for all guests. With 9 people you would think that the hot water would go fast in the mornings, but nope, there was plenty to go around after everyone showered. Highly recommend staying here! Such wonderful coziness and charm! We are back again next year and are hoping to stay here again.

Private and Peaceful

For our group of 11 adults we enjoyed the spacious three story cabin at Tihsreed, making full use of the two kitchens, hot tub and wrap around deck. The hosts were very responsive, respectful and friendly. We will be back!

Excellent Get-Away

We were very pleased with our stay at the Cabin at this location. When we booked this, we did not know what to expect. The place, location and service were excellent. Don was a great host and kept us in the loop. The Cabin was spacious enough for our large family. We could gather together and also find alone time in the cabin. Having no internet or cell service ended up being a blessing to get us out of our comfort zone and to connect as a family. Re-connecting as a family was our end goal and was achieved. Services were nearby in Divide or Woodland Park. We put this on our list of places to return in the future.

Great House!

We had a great Christmas with our extended family at TishreeD! Don even cut down a Christmas tree for us and left it on the porch. The photos of this place really don't do it justice. The living areas are extremely spacious and nicely furnished and both kitchens are well appointed. Would definitely book here again!

just as i expected secluded and rustic

With an approx 60 degree grade hill, facing north you definitely need a 4 wheel drive to reach the cabin in winter. It was everything I wanted and expected to give my family a winter wonderland experience for the Christmas holdays. living in Texas we would have not have had this experience. The cabin is secluded and very rustic with beautiful traditional furnishings. The cabin has an openess were guests can have privacy but also be in the moment with all other guests. If you're stay is long enough and experience "cabin fever" Breckenridge is a beautuful, 1 hour drive away. if you should incur issues of any kind (as life does happen ) Don & Toni will go above and beyond to fix it. We had an awesome Christmas....my Sons photos and videos show wish i coild post.

Relaxing getting away

Overall property is well-maintained and as described in the listing. The cabin is undergoing some renovations to make it even better. Beautiful interior. It looks small from the outside, but is very roomy inside and sleeps lots of people. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Roomy fridge plus one for wine. Hiking trails are a nice bonus, but a bit steep in places. Bring good shoes! Saw mule deer often. Owners are super nice. Property is within short driving distance of lots of activities. Close to Florissant Fossils Beds. We went rafting (River Runners/Acquired Tastes Rafting) and hiking in Buena Vista. Also went hiking at the Craggs near Divide (recommend 4WD if you are going to drive to this trailhead. Mountain Burger in Florrisant and McGinty's in Divide are good restaurants to visit.

Best Family Christmas Vacation Ever

My family and I wanted to do something different for the Christmas holiday, so we decide to do a cabin retreat. One of my co-workers suggested I go homeaway.com and check out the cabins in the area we wanted to go. I am glad I did. I found a cabin that was able to accommodate my whole family (all 18 of us). Upon our arrival, Don and Toni greeted us with warmth and kindness. They felt like family to us. The cabin was much beautiful in person then the photos online. And my family was very impressed with the cabin I've chosen for our vacation. Don and Toni supplied us with just about everything we needed and more. In the time we stayed, it felt very much like home. The cabin was so lovely and we had such a wonderful time we did not want to leave. Although the cabin was a little distance from most places, however, we did not mind driving because we wanted to explore as much of Colorado as we could. There was tons of stuff to do, like snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, snow-tubing, rock climbing, bowling, ice skating, hot air balloon, helicopter rides, museums, dining, and much much more. We explored so many places and had a glorious time, we did not miss our phones, the internet or our jobs. This vacation was exactly what we needed and we have Don and Toni to thank. To Don and Toni, thank you for the great hospitality you've shown to my family and I. Thank you for making the cabin feel like our home away from home. We look forward to another stay here at the Tihsreed cabin in the near future and I would definitely recommend this place to everyone I know. Again, We thank you. Amazing Mountain Wedding Venue

Just had my wedding at the TihsreeD Lodge, and I couldnt have asked for a more perfect venue for the event. The main lodge is Huge, beautiful, and so comfortable! We had 90 guests and there was plenty of room. The barn, the lodge, and the cabin were enjoyed by all. Toni and Don were very accommodating and so Very helpful along the way to any and all of our needs working with us every step of the way. I couldnt have asked for a better experience. I dont plan on getting married again but I would definitely use this place again for a family reunion or whatever gathering i can think of!

Mountain Wedding

I celebrated my wedding at Tihsreed this past October and had a wonderful experience! Our friends that traveled in stayed at the Cabin. It felt so welcome on their arrival and they spent the long weekend by the fires inside, and out and had a great time! Living areas brought our friends together, along with the huge dining table they were able to have a big dinner! It is within walking to the Main Lodge but tucked quietly away. the roads to the lodge are also very well maintained. It is also close to trails and has a great palace for kids to play as well. It was great know our guest were taken care of!

Lots of Fun for the Whole Family

We had a great time. The cabin looks small in the photos, but it is HUGE. There are 6 big bedrooms, some have up to three beds in the room. Lots of games, books and toys for rainy evening activity. Florissant is near the center of the state and has lots to do: Florissant Fossil Beds, Dino Center, Eleven Mile Reservoir, Muller State Park and Cripple Creek not far away. The drive to get to other activities is beautiful: going rafting in Canon City, to the Royal Gorge, to the Sand Dunes (leave VERY early!). We spent two days in Colorado Springs, just 50 minutes away, but did not go to Denver. Breckenridge was an hour away and a fun day trip. Don and Toni are full of helpful information and showed us the indian prayer trees on the property. Overall, it was the perfect location for our family trip. Lots of room, clean, centrally located, good supply of dishes, cookware, towels, soaps, etc. Thanks, Toni and Don, for making us feel so welcomed and right at home. We hope to come back!

Gorgeous and so comfortable!

My extended family and I (total of 13) stayed one week in July. This home was VERY clean and well stocked ( I am a bit of a neat freak and have high standards) They supplied everything you could need during your stay including toiletries, laundry soap, plenty of towels and linens, endless games and the kitchen was more than equipped for our large group. The owners, Toni and Don were extremely friendly and helpful. Their home was beautiful and comfortable. The location was perfect! It is on a quiet mountainside with gorgeous scenery and a well kept trail to explore. The children in our group from age 3 to 14 all enjoyed it very much! The hot tub was out of order the week we were there which was a little disappointing but we found plenty to keep us busy. There is no cell phone service or internet which was good in some ways because it kept us focused on the beauty surrounding us but at the same time it was difficult to look up activities and make reservations. Toni was most helpful with this though as she was a wealth of information and was more than willing to help us with ideas. The location was perfect for us too. It was close enough to many activities yet far enough away to provide privacy and plenty of room to explore right outside the front door. All in all our stay was awesome and will provide many great memories for years to come! We are already talking as a family about a future vist!

Big Inviting Cabin; Room for the Whole Family

We found the cabin to be even nicer than the photos. It was wonderful to get away from work and just relax. The large porch is where I spent most of my time as the family stayed busy with local activities: the zoo, the cowboy museum, the fossil beds and the local historical museum. I watch the hummingbirds, sat by the outdoor fire pit, waited for the deer to wander by and found out that I did not miss the internet or cell service AT ALL. The cabin was clean, Toni brought us extra towels and some games for the children without us even asking. Don was full of helpful information about the area. We mostly ate in, as the point of our trip was to spend time with family. This was the perfect cabin for a relaxing family reunion.

About the host

Hosted by Toni and Donald Moore

Host profile image
Toni is a chemist, teacher, and artist. She enjoys making the Lodge look special and is always available to assist you with your stay.

Don is financial services consultant and the general handy man for the Lodge.

Both Toni and Don are marathon runners, skiers, and cyclists. They stay fit tending to the 50 private acres that make up TihsreeD. Fire mitigation, tending to the trails, and landscaping at 9000 ft. above sea level is quite a workout. Their goal is to make all of TihsreeD a park like setting in the mountains.

Toni and Don Moore purchased The Lodge in 2006, and added The Cabin in 2015.

Why Toni and Don Moore chose South Central Colorado

TihsreeD (Tiz-reed) is a truly magical place. We are sited in the center of the state so you have just a short drive to the best Colorado has to offer and if you choose to stay put, we have plenty of fun for you on site: a golf tee, hiking trails, hot tub, dvds, fireplaces, wildlife and much more.

TihsreeD is built on the historic Ute Native American vision quest trail. Many of our trees were culturally modified over hundreds of years by the Ute warriors as they made prayers, held ceremonies and completed their vision quests. When you visit, we believe you will agree that our property feels holy.

What makes our venue unique

TihsreeD (Tiz-reed) is decorated with fun and whimsical items, many for sale. There are games, collectibles, antiques and tchotchke that you will enjoy. Many guests choose to purchase items to take home as mementos of their Colorado vacation.

The venue is located at 9000 feet above sea level, so a hike on the property will give you an extra effort work out. There are swings along the path and many deer, turkey, foxes, and more on the property. The views of Pikes Peak and the Collegiate Mountains are beautiful.

It is uncommon to find a spot so private, yet with so much space. Large groups can enjoy the time together, yet have room to rest and reflect.

Why they chose this property

This charming cabin is located beside TihsreeD Lodge Wedding and Event Venue and is an important part of the wedding venue. If you are looking for a spot for a special event, give us a call. We enjoy helping guest plan for their Colorado celebrations.

What makes this property unique

From family fun on the mountain, hiking adventures, fishing on the lake to adult play time in the famous gambling towns, there are activities to excite everyone at Tihsreed. Google us to find out even more!

On site, you can cozy up to the fire at one of the beautiful fireplaces. You can hike the property, enjoy the great outdoors and a bit of high altitude exercise while hiking the Tihsreed Trail. You will find a well stocked game supply. Many other activities are available at the house.

Nearby you will find Fossil Bed National Monument, Lake George, Adeline Hornbek Homestead, Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center, hiking and biking trails, swimming holes, horseback riding, golf, Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, Butte Theater, North Pole Christmas Center, and the towns of Woodland Park and Cripple Creek. Gambling, shopping, antiquing, fine dining and more are available.
