Outstanding

We went to Pittsburgh for our very first Steelers game, and we found the hotels to be quite expensive with large parking fees, so we decided to search for a rental. Elena’s home was perfect!! It is exactly as pictured, super clean, and full of charm and character. We parked in the private space and didn’t touch the car- walked everywhere! Elena’s husband came shortly after we arrived to turn the heat on for us and show us how to work it. He was super nice and helpful. We enjoyed the amazing shower and tub. The bathroom is enormous! The bed was comfortable, and we both crashed after lots of walking! The icing on the cake was when Elena contacted me to let me know I left a shirt and sweater in the closet. She mailed the items to me!!! Wow!!! So impressed with her kindness. Thank you, Elena, for a wonderful stay and for being so sweet. By the way, the Steelers won, and it was a great weekend! We are already trying to go to another game, and we will surely try to get Elena’s place again!

Quaint, conveniently located home!

The apartment was conveniently located, so that we could walk to PNC Park, Randyland, and Point State Park. It was clean and well kept, and it was in a neighborhood where I felt safe walking around.

Great location at a compromise

Would have been nice to have a more comfortable bed, was a feather mattress. No coffee filters. Not enough dish towels. Only small futon in living room. No sitting for guests. Washer works intermittently. Only small TV in living room with limited channels. No TV in bedroom. Stayed there before for a short stay. For extended stay a little challenging. Two flights of steps may be challenging for elderly. We stayed for the holidays and no baking pans. It was clean the host was great and easy to work with!

Nice location relative to Heinz Field

Came here to stay someplace close to Heinz field for a Steelers game. Although it's in a very blue collar neighborhood, I never felt unsafe or worried. The bathroom and shower are very nice as is the kitchen. Easy walking or Uber distance to down town and the stadium. Overall a very good experience.

It was cool, but a little under the HomeAways I'm used to.

It has a nice kitchen, cool shower, but the curb appeal kind of off. I can see how it throws people off who don't live their. The furniture isn't all that great, but if your not too picky it's the spot for you.

Absolutely charming.

Loved the location. Coffee shops and lunch shops all around the main drags. Owners of the unit are doing a fantastic job. Very central location to UBER around at very low prices. If you don't understand what an urban area going through a renaissance means, this may not be the unit for you. For the urban adventurer this is the place for you. The architecture nearby is amazing. Thanks for having us. Look forward to coming back.

Nice place, could be even better.

We did enjoy our stay here, but it would have been nice if the owner had provided a phone # at some point. Put another way, it could have been disastrous if we had some serious problem with no way of contacting him/her. Also, pots and utensils in the kitchen were not all clean. We weren't bothered by the neighborhood for the most part, but it is indeed a bit rough.

A Good Value

I came to Pittsburgh to watch a 3 game series with the NY Mets. I looked long and hard for a place to stay within walking distance of PNC Park. The hotels were grossly over priced. This was my first VRBO experience. It's actually a 3 story home that I'm guessing was built in the 1800's but of course it's been completely modernized and it was roomy & comfortable. I read all the previous reviews. Yes - the stairs are steep. Both sets. But I would disagree that it's a "bad" neighborhood. Blue collar for sure, but all three ball games were at night & I had no fear walking to & from the Park. 20 minutes each way. I never did meet or speak with the owners. Not because they weren't attentive but because it wasn't necessary. A few text messages back & forth was all that was required. I read somewhere there is no TV. That's not true either. They have cable in the living room. It was a good price for what I got. A good value.

Nice quiet and convenient spot.

I come to PITTSBURGH every year for the tattoo convention. I always end up spending way too much money on over priced hotels. This was so much nicer and convenient to the convention. The place was very quiet and cozy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there were half drinking coffee cups left behind from the previous guest. All in All a great place to stay if your visiting Pittsburgh. I hope to stay here again when I come next year. Thanks for an great visit to steal city!

Great place and friendly host!

If you want to be near downtown and what Pitt has to offer, this is a good place! Clean and spacious. I would have given 5 stars but the stairs are a workout. This is not a knock on the house, I realize all the homes in the area have multiple sets of steps. Being from Fla w/ no steps was different. I seen a review complaining about the area. NOT true! Actually most of the area are employees of the nearby hospital and business commuters to town. The area is all being renovated and quaint.

Comfortable, spacious, charming.

We had such a wonderful stay in Pittsburgh, highly recommend staying at this apartment when visiting Pitt. This large, charming 1bedroom is tucked away in a rustic old home in North Side of Pitt. Lots of great restaurants and pubs nearby, some good parks to walk thru, and a nice coffee shop around the corner. The apartment is even nicer than the pictures and description. For our 3 day visit, we really felt at home.

Clean, quiet, and comfortable.

We found our safe little parking space at Elena's Homeaway house in December for our trip to Pittsburgh for a conference downtown. The neighborhood has some houses that look a bit derelict, but overall it is a neighborhood on the rebound. We walked every day to the free T-station to town, or the closer nearby bus stop, even at night and had no problems. Inside the house, the steps are steep, so we were just careful going up and down. (It is not suitable for handicapped walkers.) The main kitchen area/living room level are comfortable and nicely appointed. The kitchen was well stocked. I do a lot of cooking for my husband's allergies. The central stove island was real nice to use. The top floor had the bedroom and the lovely bathroom. I loved the walk-in huge tiled shower! The bathroom was beautiful. We had a lovely time there. Everything was spotlessly clean. The clean hardwood floors were good for my husband's allergies. We went to the Pittsburgh Holiday Pops concert, the Phipps Conservatory, the International Classrooms at the University, and other great museums in town. It's an easy walk to the fantastic National Aviary (try to get to that.) It was delightfully quiet for sleeping at night. Since we live on a farm, going to cities can often be too noisy for us but this property is set on the alley side of the main road, so it was great for sleeping. If we come back to Pittsburgh, we would definitely stay here again.

Lovely and Comfortable

This has been our third stay at this property and we have difficultly going back to stay anywhere else - Elena and her family are incredibly gracious hosts! This apartment is spacious, comfortable and beautifully well kept. It offers all the luxuries of home, a full kitchen and a gorgeous bathroom! The only drawback to sharing our rave reviews is that this secret gem of an apartment won't stay secret for long! We will definitely be going back!

Great Location

It was a great weekend for me and my girlfriend in this apartment. The apartment is very clean and comforting the bathroom is huge and the rainfall shower head is great. We didn't drive at all since Uber is very cheap to use and can get you down to the stadium and surrounding parts in less than ten minutes. If I'm every in Pittsburgh again I will definitely stay here again.

Cute design with questionable cleanliness and safty issues

Derelict pocket area in changing neighborhood. Not as dangerous as seems. Has steep, narrow steps from basement? to main floor and from main floor to bedroom/bathroom. Transition from bedroom to bathroom is a drop to top landing and up again, light not working to illuminate at night. Bathroom lovely. Bed hard and uncomfortable. Bedroom window can't be closed due to air conditioner support. Long bedroom curtains hang over electric heater presenting fire hazard with only one way out through basement. TV doesn't work all of the time and microwave oven only works with door open. cabinets and oven dirty. No washcloths or dish cloths. Evaluation left for owner. Perhaps problems will be solved

Beautiful and well kept apartment!

Overall, my stay at this apartment could not have been better. It is a beautiful and unique unit that offered plenty of space and all the comforts of home - my favorite was the fully stocked kitchen! Incredibly clean and easy to settle into. Fantastic location within walking distance of plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. The owner offered incredible customer service and quickly responded to any questions - also provided extra space heaters for comfort! I plan on renting this unit again for any return visits to Pittsburgh!
